Funeral serives will be held Friday for Waverly resident, Charles R. Compton
who died unexpectedly on Monday at Grant Hospital, Columubus.
Compton, of 516 Seventh Street, Waverly, was born in Chillicothe on May 21, 1923, to parents, Edward and Dora (Martindale) Compton.
Compton retired from Chilpaco in 1985 and is a Veteran of World War II, U. S. Army. He is also a member of several groups and organizations including the United Paperworkers Local, 40 & 8, National Hikers Club, the Rolling Buckeyes, American Legion Post 142, and VFW 2832.
Compton is survived by three daughters, Judy Stahl of Bradenton, Florida, Vicki Coey of Beaver, and Sheila DeWeese of Waverly; eight grandchildren; one brother, Robert Compton of Florida; five sisters, Mary Louise Anderson of Maine, Mrs. Beryl Fealy of Vandalia, Jo Ann Banbiber of Upper Sandusky, Margaret Johnson of Clarksburg, and Phyllis Lewis of Waverly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and wife, Vivian Damron who died August 1985.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Botkins Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday).
Officiating will be Reverend Lonnie Potts. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
