John Wells Emmitt, age 87 years, died June 27, 2004 was born on April 12, 1917 in Bantam, Ohio. The son of Paul & Susie Waldtrodt Emmitt.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mildred Homan Emmitt; sons Jay and Randy; grandchildren Jason, Sean and Melissa and great grandchild Andrea. John was a photographer, artist and electronic technician.
He was very involved in Genealogy and was a member of both Clemont and Pike County Genealogical Societies. He was also a 50 year member of the Bethel Masonic Lodge. John will be greatly missed. Residence Anderson Township. Interment at Tate Township Cemetery in the Cincinnati area.
He was a First Families member of Pike County.

Funeral service for Mrs. Olive L. James, 54, of 210 E. Fifth Street, Waverly, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Boyer Funeral Home, with Rev. H. Douglas Shtiner officiating. Burial followed in Waverly Evergreen Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home from 2 until 9 p.m Saturday.
A native of Pike County, Mrs. James died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, in the Pike County Hospital.
The family requested that Memorial tributes be made to the Pike County Intensive Care Unit.
Born on November 7, 1924, she was the daughter of William Curtis and Emma Bayhand Shaw, both deceased.
On February 19, 1948, she married Earl F. James, who survives, at home.
In addition to her husband, surviving are four daughters, Miss Linda James of R #1, Waverly, Mrs. Kempton (Joyce) Smith, of Rt #2 Piketon, Mrs. Timothy (Susan Bennett, of R#1 Minford and Mrs. Lonnie (Janice ) Fox of Herrin, Ill.; three sisters, Miss Norma Shaw, of Rt #4, Waverly, Mrs. Gladys Cramblit, of Pomona, California and Mrs. Harold (Mabel) Cutlip, of Wilmington; one brother, George Shaw, of Hiawatha, Kansas; and one grandson.
Besides her parents, one brother preceded her in death.
Mrs. James was a member of the Waverly Grace United Methodist church and the Pike County Hospital Guild No. 12.
Added note: Her husband, Earl James, was formerly Editor and Manager of the Waverly News and Watchman, and is the present Waverly Fire Chief and also has charge of the Emergency Squadrons, in this locality.
