James Isaac Miller was born in Jackson county, Ohio, April 11 1834, died on March 6, 1912
Of lung fever aged 77 years 1 month and _?__ days.
The deceased was a kind and loving father and husband, was loyal to his country, serving in the
Civil War. He was married three times, and is the father of sixteen children. He is survived by a wife and nine children, they being George W. of Canton O., Arletha Donaldson of CedarVille, O., Thomas Miller of Alma, Mary Wallrodt of Alma, O., Susie McCann of Anderson Ind., Emily Minnix of Columbus O., Houston Miller of Columbus O., Abrahan Miller of Waverly O. also twenty four grandchildren Living. Funeral services were held by Rev. M. H. Rice.

Thurs. June 25 1908, CAPTAIN J. Q. BARNES DIES AT SALEM OREGON FROM PARALYTIC STROKE.
The following from the Daily Oregon Statesman of June 13th refers to Captain James Q. Barnes, a former resident of Waverly and a brother of T.N. Barnes of this city.
With the passing of Captain J. Q. Barnes, Salem looses one of its best valued citizens, yesterday morning he crossed the great divide, death coming as the result of a stroke of paralysis. He had been ill for some time, having retired from active participation in business several months ago on account of failing health.. The deceased had been a highly respected business man of Salem since 1891. He was born in Waverly, Ohio, on Jan., 29. 1836. His boyhood days were spent in Waverly. He was a graduate of the Ohio Wesleyan University at Delaware in the class of 1861. Immediately after graduating he took the place of his brother, John R.T. Barnes of the 1s, Ohio Volunteer infantry, who was killed at the battle of Vienna, VA., June 17, 1861. In October, 1861, he enlisted in Co. D. 73rd. O. V. I., as First Lieutenant. In 1862 he was promoted to Captain of Co. I, which rank he held until 1865, when he was mustered out of the service. He was with Sherman on the famous march from Atlanta to the sea.
October 25 1865, he was married to Mary R, Emmitt at Waverly. There were 5 children born to them, of whom 3 survive, all residing in Salem Oregon.

THARP, BENJAMIN MACK
Thurs. March 18, 1920, Benjamin Mack Tharp, died at Dayton last Friday. He was born at Washington C.H. , Ohio, April 30th, 1866. He was married to Miss. Minetta Emmitt, of Waverly, Ohio, August 30th, 1888 and to
this union were born three children, who survive: Mrs. Wombolt. of Cleveland, Miss. Isabella Tharp and Mrs. McDougle, of Dayton. Mrs Tharp passed away January 9, 1902. On November 15, 1904, he married his wife's sister Miss Eleanor Emmitt, who, with the children and one grandchild survive.
Sunday, March, March 7, he was taken ill, passing away Friday evening, March 12, 1920, at his home, 23 St. Marys Street, Dayton, Ohio.

Death has taken two of Pike County's prominent citizens during the past week. H. Adam Butcher died on Wednesday morning and the death of Mrs. Martha Hughes of Wakefield was reported on the same day. Mrs. Hughes was one of Scioto Township's oldest inhabitants, the widow of the late Samuel Hughes.

HUGHES, Mrs. Samatha (Black) was born April 12, 1860 and departed this life December 2, 1906. She was married to Will Hughes and to them nine children were born, six of whom with the husband and father, survive her. Pearl, Albert and Charles preceded their mother to the other world. Annie Stella, Willie, Mamie, John & Ruth are living. Mrs. Hughes was a well-meaning, hard working, tender-hearted, sympathetic woman her death being premuter on account of incessant work and exposure. She united with the Methodist Church of Waverly last winter and made an honest effort to live a Christian life. She was buried in the Waverly Cemetery, her pastor, Rev. Lott, officiating at the funeral.

Funeral services for Mrs. Goldie O. Farmer, 70, of 211 Forsythe Street, Piketon, are scheduled to be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Howe Company Funeral Home In Piketon, with Rev. James Carson officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery there. Friends called at the funeral home from 2 to 4, and from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Farmer died at 4:45 a.m. Monday in the Pike County Hospital, where she had been a patient since Tuesday, July 30th. She had been ill for two months.
She was a retired cook at the Lake White Club, and was a member of Piketon Church of Christ in Christian Union.
A native of Pike County, she was born on April 6, 1904, a daughter of Hiram and Lydia (Blake) Blakeman.
Her husband, John Isaac Farmer died July 14, 1951.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Florence) Roberts of Piketon; one sister, Mrs. Nola Lee of Springfield.
In addition her parents and husband, she was precedeceased by one sister and one brother.

Funeral service for Mrs. Orletta Blanche Johnson, 46, of 228 Robin Hood Road, Macon, Georgia were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 25th, at the Fawcett-Oliver and Glass Funeral Home in Chillicothe, with Rev. Amel Hughes officiating. Burial followed in Flora Hills Memory Gardens, near Massieville. Friends can called at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Johnson died unexpectedly at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Chillicothe Medical Center Hospital.
Born in 1928 in Pike County, she was a daughter of Virgil and Dora (North) Davis.
She retired in 1971 as an employe at the Robbins Air Force Base.
On July 26, 1947 she married Orsin Johnson, who survives.
In addition to her husband, surviving are her mother, Mrs. Dora O. Tull of Route #8, Chillicothe; two sons, Winifred Johnson and Charles Johnson, both of Macon Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. Cathleen McCroskey of Columbus, Mrs. Muriel Clemmons of Route #8, Chillicothe and Mrs. Margaret Blazer of Frankfor; and four brothers, Orland Davis of Columbus, Wilbur Davis of Louisville, Kentucky, Paul Davis of Chillicothe, and Sgt Jackie Davis of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

BEAVER MAYOR BILL OSBORN SUCCUMBS. William Osborn, veteran Mayor of the Village of Beaver, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 1975 in the Ross County Medical Center where he had been taken Saturday evening suffering from a heart attack.
Osborn, a Beaver native, had been Mayor of beaver for the past 15 years. Before that he had served on the Village Council for several years. He was a member of the Pike County Democratic Centeral committee, and was an employee of the A. P. Green Construction Company.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Davis Osborn and a daughter, Mrs. Christine Wiget of Beaver and two grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lucy Blakeman Osborn, three brothers, Clyde and Frank of Beaver and Guy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, seven step-sisters, Mrs. Francis Schilling of Spring Valley, Ohio; Mrs. Margaret Miller and Mrs. Bess Ross of Urbana; Mrs.
Ann Preston of New Holland; Mrs. Elizabeth Richardson of Waverly and Mrs. Mildred Reinsmith and Mrs. Barbara Osborn of Beaver, four step brothers, Joseph of Piketon, Stanley and Stephen of Chillicothe and Sherman of Waverly.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Emmunial Methodist Church in Beaver with the Rev. Sam Stover officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery under the direction of the Hammerstein-Purdy Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 until 9 p.m. Wednesday.
