Obituary of John Violet, Revolutionary Soldiers, Piketon Journal, Scioto Gazette, January 12, 1848.
John Violet, Revolutionary Soldier, died in Beaver Township, Pike County, December 31, 1847, about 97 years.
The deceased was the oldest man in the county and was one of the remnants of that noble band of heroes who fought for and obtained our independence in the revolutionary struggles. Thus one by one, the veterans of that dark and stormy period of our national history are passing and soon not a living witness will remain to recount the heroic deeds of the brave defenders of the rights and liberties of our beloved land.
Quoting the Piketon Journal - Scioto Gazette, January 12, 1848.
