BAY, RANNELLS

I have a Power of Attorney document which suggests that Olive Township was in Guernsey County in 1818. Could that be? Or was it a "typo" in 1818? The document is recorded in Washington County, PA and is essentially a power of attorney from Thomas Bay (Sr.) to his son, James, dated 15 September 1818. It pertains to a mortgage deed for land in Washington County, PA. The document was witnessed by Joseph Rannels (sic) and William Bay and clearly states State of Ohio, GUERNSEY COUNTY, Olive Township. William Rannells was the Justice of the Peace. Clerk of the Court of Common Please for Guernsey was Zaccheus (?) A. Beatty. I know that Thomas Bay,Sr., William Bay and Joseph Rannells lived in Spencer Twp., Guernsey at the time and that William Rannells lived in what was then Morgan County just south of Cumberland so everything seems to work out EXCEPT the Olive Township reference. Any information will be appreciated. Tom Bay, Columbus, OH [email protected]

URBAN

I am reasearching the Urban (Irbin, Urbean, Urben) line from enoch township as appearing in the 1850 Census of Monroe county. I notice after 1850 this township reverts to Noble County. Jacob Urbin, born circa 1797 in either Switzerland or Germany, his wife Susannah who is seventeen years his junior born in America. This family evidently ended up in Muskigum county, as I find most of them there on the 1870 census. Jacob the immigrant is by then 74 years old. I can find thirteen offspring of this union. I cannot find any records I can prove before 1850, except a possible John Urbin in Fairfield county in the 1840 census. If anyone has ties to this/these individual I would appreciate a response. They have been an extraordinarily hard nut to crack in my research, but have much info on the Muskingum county years, and much more to do. Thanks.
