Funeral services for Pvt. Lloyd M. Mack Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd M. Mack Sr. of 4934 Wildrose dr., who was killed in action, May 11, 1946, on Okinawa, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Victory Methodist church, Northridge. Burial will be in the Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Hoyne funeral home, 1817 E. Third st., from 2 to 11 p.m. Tuesday and at the church after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Born in Dayton, he attended Northridge high school and was a letter man on the 1942-43 football squad. He was employed at Chrysler Airtemp Corp. for a year prior to entering military service.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Miss Mary Jane Mack of Dayton, and a brother, William T. Mack, a member of Coast Guard, at Ketchikan, Alaska.

Charles M. MacNabb, 36, of 2016 Edgeworth av., died unexpectedly in Miami Valley hospital at 11 p. m. Thursday following a heart attack.

Mr. MacNabb was a native of Dayton and was a foreman at the Huffman Manufacturing Co. He is survived by his wife, Jean Marie; his mother, Mrs. Lucy B. MacNabb; two sons, Michael Ray and Richard Lee; a sister, mrs. Jane O'Sullivan of Tucson, and a brother, Hal V. Logan of Dayton.

Near West Ellston, Preble county, August 15th, Aunt Phoebe Maddock, in her 86th year. She was a member of the Society of Friends.

HENRY E. MADIGAN YIELDS TO DEATH

Henry E. Madigan, 66, living at 1218 East Second street, died Tuesday morning shortly before three o'clock. He was widely and favorably known and his death is deeply deplored. Mr. Madigan enjoyed the distinction of being one of the most skillful boiler makers that this city ever produced. As a result of his capacity along the line of his trade, he was sent out frequently by the concerns with which he was associated, to install new boilers and repair them after they became defective. For a number of years he was employed by the Brownell Boiler company and for a long period of time by James Daugherty, located at Third and Montgomery streets.

His illness, which finally terminated in his death, began about seven years ago, when he was required to retire from active life. His condition became serious last March, but he rallied from this attack. He suffered a recurrence about three weeks ago and after that time his condition gradually grew worse until death ended his suffering.

Mr. Madigan was born at Albany, New York, coming to Ohio and locating in Dayton, when he was quite young. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Madigan; three sons and three daughters, James, Joseph and Edward and Misses Nellie, Loretta and Rosanna, and Mrs. Thomas Murphy. The funeral will take place at the residence Thursday morning.

MRS. EUGENE M'ADOO DIES TUESDAY MORNING

Mrs. Eugene A. Yakey McAdoo died Tuesday morning at the family home, 11 North Perry street, at 2 o'clock after a short illness, with a complication of diseases. Four children survive her: Chas. L., Eugene M., Albert L., and Mrs. Laura E. Holloway.

The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the residence.

Funeral services for William E. Mahan, 63, who was found dead at his home, 819 Groveland av., Saturday night, will be conducted Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Frank Riesinger funeral home. Burial will be in the Lower Miami cemetery. The Fraternal Order of Eagles of which Mahan was a member, will conduct services. He is survived by is widow, Lillian Mahan.

Miss Dorothy Mahlmeister, 28, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Mahlmeister, 1421 Bryn Mawr dr., died at Good Samaritan hospital at 6 p.m. Thursday, following a brief illness. Miss Mahlmeister was a member of Holy Trinity church; a graduate of Notre Dame academy and also a graduate nurse of the Good Samaritan hospital in Cincinnati. Besides her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Mary Ann, Kathleen A., and Sister Dorothy of the Sacred Heart Order of Notre Dame, and one brother, J. Edward Mahlmeister. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8:15 a.m. at the late residence on Bryn Mawr dr., and with solemn requiem mass at Holy Trinity church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery.

John Maier, 64, died Friday morning at the residence. Survived by his widow, Anna; four sons, Carl, Arthur, Walter and Edward, and a daughter, Miss Minnie Maiser. Funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the residence. Burial in Woodland.

Services for William Kerian Makley, who died Friday in an auto accident at Tucson, Ariz., will be conducted at 10 a. m. Wednesday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Torrence A. Makley St. of 309 E. Dixon av., Oakwood, and at 10:30 a. m. at Holy Angels church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Friends may call at the parents' residence from 3 to 9 p. m. Tuesday.

S. T. MALONEY TO RETIRE FROM OFFICE

S. T. Maloney, of Dayton, will retire from the presidency of the Ohio Federation of Catholic societies, after having served in that capacity in a very efficient manner for two terms, at the convention held at Columbus today. Among those who will attend the meeting, which will be held in the Knights of Columbus hall, will be Mrs. Ellis Wolf, third vice-president; Mrs. C. Bryne, Frank Hollencamp, Thomas M. Gavin, Frances C. Canny, Jerry Enright and James K. Davis

Captain Louis Markgraf, a citizen of Dayton and a soldier of the late war, died at the Military Home, at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, January 1st. Captain Markgraf was well known here by the older residents of the city. For a number of years he was located on East Third street, in the room now occupied by Mr. Gus Sander, and afterward on South Jefferson street. He was a native of Prussia. Several years ago his health failed him and he sought an asylum in the Home near Dayton. About two years ago, hoping that the change would be beneficial to his health, he asked to be transferred to the Milwaukee Home. The transfer was made, and he remained there until the time of his death. He was seventy-one years old when he died. He was captain of the 8th Ohio Battery.

Anna Markin passed away at 8 o'clock Thursday evening at the Miami Valley hospital, aged 52 years. The funeral services were held from Westbrock's office at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment at Woodland.

Ray Marsh, 61, of 5220 Lome av., Ridgewood Heights, died at 8:45 p. m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth hospital after a 12-hour illness. A native of Amity and an employe [sic] of the Natural Leaf Tobacco Co. for 25 years, he was a member of Camp 157, Modern Woodmen of America. Surviving are his wife, Bessie; a daughter, Mrs. Marcella Reichard of Brookville; three sisters, Mrs. Jesse Havens and Mrs. Callie Schon of Dayton and Mrs. Jennie Horst of Kokomo, Ind.; two brothers, Albertus and Ellis of Dayton, and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Grace M. Marshall, 66, wife of J. Finley Marshall, proprietor of the Beavertown grocery, died at 1 a.m. Monday at Miami Valley hospital following an illness of five weeks. She was born in Van Buren tp., had been a lifelong resident of Montgomery co., and was a member of the Beavertown U.B. church and served as treasurer of the Ladies' Aid society of the church for several years. Surviving are her husband; one son, Ellsworth, and two sisters, Mrs. Susie Weller and Mrs. Nettie Whipp of Dayton.

Funeral of Charles W. Martin, 40, who died Monday morning at the Miami Valley hospital, was held at 10 a. m. Wednesday at Woodland cemetery chapel. Masonic services were conducted. Rev. Earl Daniel, pastor of the Memorial Presbyterian church, conducted the regular services. Burial was in Woodland cemetery.

DIES SUDDENLY IN MIAMISBURG

Mrs. Kathryn Emma Martin, 69, died suddenly at 2 o'clock this morning at her home on Storck st. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Walter Martin, and two sons, Alfred Apple of Dayton and Edward Apple of this city.

The funeral of Mrs. Mabel Brown Martin will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Chapel at Woodland cemetery, Rev. W. A. Hale and Rev. Daniel Brownlee conducting the services. The remains arrived here Thursday night from Charleston, W. Va., and were taken to Jackson undertaking establishment in East Third street. The services at Woodland chapel will be open to friends of Mrs. Martin.

All that was early of the late Wesley Martin, the popular young man who lost his life while bathing in Lake Michigan, Tuesday, along with Clarence Hicks, another of the N.C.R. Welfare League campers, was tenderly laid to rest in Woodland cemetery Saturday afternoon.

The tragic death of Wesley Martin in the very prime of young manhood, when life promised so much, proved a sad shock not only to the parents and relatives, but to a host of warm friends and admirers of the noble character of this young man. Much sorrow was expressed for the family, and sympathy found further expression in a wealth of beautiful flowers surrounding the casket, and which mark the last resting place in Woodland cemetery.

The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock at the residence on Beckel street. They were conducted by Rev. Fred N. McMillin of the Memorial Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was an active member and secretary of the Men's league. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends. The church choir assisted in the services, which were impressive and beautiful. Rev. Mr. McMillin paid a glowing tribute to the deceased and praised in particular his earnest work in the church.

The pallbearers were Ralph Tyson, Frank Bench, William Thompson, Earl Avers, John Keeley and Clif Alberts. Brief services were held at the grave in Woodland.

William Leonard Martin, age 71, 1400 Creighton av., died at 3:41 a.m. Friday at Good Samaritan hospital after an eight-month illness. He was born in Bristol, VA., and had been a resident of Dayton 26 years. He was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Annis, and one daughter, Ernest Arnold of Dayton; four sons, Clifton, Carl, Sherley and Vernon, all of Dayton; three sisters, Mrs. Mollie Johnson of Mendota, Va., Mrs. Nannie Sharrett of Bristol, Va., Mrs. Gracie Millard of Huntington Ind.; one brother, Arthur Martin of Oblong, Ill. He was a member of Ohmer Park Methodist church. Services 2 p.m. Monday, Morris Sons funeral home, 1809 E. Third, Rev. Sheridan Walker officiating. Burial Woodland cemetery. SMOTHERED TO DEATH

The Child of Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Matthews Found Dead in Bed

A sad discovery was made this morning by Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Matthews, who are estimable colored citizens living on the Eugene Parrott dairy farm in Oakwood.

Last evening when Mr. and Mrs. Matthews retired, they took to bed with them their nine-weeks-old baby, a girl. This morning when they awoke they found the child dead, and it is thought that between them, they accidentally smothered it. At least, this is the opinion of Coroner Hahne, who was called to make an examination.

MAUE FUNERAL IS HELD TODAY
NATIVE OF GERMANY HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF THIS VICINITY NEARLY 70 YEARS

Funeral services for Charles E. Maue, aged 73 years, native of Germany who passed away at his home on the Springboro road Monday evening about eight o'clock were to be held this afternoon at two o'clock from St. John's Lutheran church with Rev. H. C. Ter Vehn of West Carrollton officiating. The services at the church were to follow brief services held at the residence at 1:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Hillgrove cemetery.

Mr. Maue was born in Germany July 24, 1858 and came with his parents to this country when he was about six years old. His parents settled in this vicinity where he has been a resident practically all his life. He devoted his life to farming. He had been in failing health for some time but was taken seriously ill just a week preceding his death. Death was due to dropsy. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church.

Surviving him are his widow, Amanda, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Durst, at home and a son, Lester Maue of Dayton. A brother, Jacob Maue of the Springboro road and five grandchildren, also survive.

CHARLES H. MAUS DIES AT AGE 67; FORMER RESIDENT

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) at the Gebhart and Schmidt Funeral Home, for Charles H. Maus, 67, of 405 Blue Bell road, Dayton, a former resident of Miamisburg, who died Monday, 2:30 a.m. after extended illness.

The pastor of the Troy Street Evangelical United Brethren Church, Dayton, is officiating clergymen. Burial will be in Hill Grove cemetery.

Born at Washington C. H., Mr. Maus formerly resided in this community a number of years. He was a retired foreman in the foundry division of Master's Electric Co., Dayton, and was a member of the Troy Street EUB Church.

His wife, Della Mae Emby Maus, preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1960.

Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Betty Motsney, Mrs. Helen Piekutowski, Mrs. Wanda Troutwine, Mrs. Mary Stevens, and Mrs. Joan Tresslar, all of Dayton and Mrs. Jacqueline Voge, New Carlisle; two sons, Richard of Dayton, and Robert of Hudson, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Ritter of Bradenton, Fla., and Mrs. Lona Sarver of Detroit; a brother, Fred Maus, Dayton; and 21 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Emil Carl Matzick, 63, who died in his home, 3451 N. Dixie dr., Tuesday morning, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Whitmer Brothers funeral home, Ludlow st. and Monument av., by Rev. W. R. Grunewald. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Born in Germany, Mr. Matzick lived in Dayton over 40 years and was the owner of the Northridge Lumber and Hardware Co. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church, Dayton lodge of Masons and Scottish Rite.

Funeral services for George W. May, 75, of 2525 W. Third st., who died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the St. Elizabeth hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the residence with burial in Lexington, O. the body may be viewed at the residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mayenschein, Xenia dr., Osborn, for Carl Lawrence Mayenschein, 23, who was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a Cincinnati & Lake Erie inter-urban freight train on Spring st. Wednesday morning. Surviving are the parents; one brother, Charles; and three sisters, Alice, Ann Elizabeth and Betty Jane. Interment will be in Glen Haven cemetery, near Donnelsville.

Funeral services for Lillian Mayer, 18, who died Sunday at 2:30 a.m., were conducted Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from Westbrock's funeral home and at 8:45 a.m. at St. Mary's church. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.

Services will be Tuesday for Alice Maysilles, Brookville's oldest resident, who died Saturday at Brookhaven Nursing and Care Center. She was 104.

The Village Council honored Mrs. Maysilles with a cake and ice cream party when she turned 100 on Jan. 30, 1984, and Mayor George Brown presented her with a key to the village.

She moved to Brookville in 1890 and a year later, after graduation from high school, married her teacher, Andrew Maysilles. The mayor of Brookville from 1906 to 1908, he later served as the first superintendent of Montgomery County Schools from 1914 to 1926.

Mrs. Maysilles is survived by several nieces and nephews: Thomas Pyper of Kettering; Virginia Ernst, Mark Howett Jr. and Harry Howett of Brookville; Alice Lorena Nehr of Tucson, Ariz.; Avenal Mead of Manassas, Va.; and a foster daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Virgil Lusk of Manchester, Tenn.

The services will be at 2 p.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home in Brookville.

Funeral services for Roscoe C. McCabe, 68, of 3317 N. Main st., who died at 3 a.m. Friday at the Miami Valley hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Grant Riesinger funeral home, 1868 W. third st., with burial in Lewisburg, O. The body may be viewed at the funeral home. He had been employed as a jeweler at the Elder and Johnston Co.

Services were being arranged Friday for Mrs. Rose McCaffery, 63, of 357 Bolander av., who died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth hospital after a long illness. A lifelong Dayton resident, she was a member of the St. Rita Altar society and St. James church. Survivors include her husband, James A.; one daughter, Mrs. Rose Marie Weldon of Scranton, Pa.; three sisters, Frances Desch and Mrs. Matilda Hohl, both of Dayton, and Mrs. Louise Birkmeyer of Coldwater, O.; one brother, Clarence Desch of Dayton, and one grandson.

John P. McCandless, 76, of 3016 Sagamon av., died at his residence at 6:55 p.m. Monday after an illness of three months. Mr. McCandless was a native of Dayton and had been employed as a machine operater [sic] at Delco Products. He was a member of Trinity Methodist church and the IOOF lodge. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; two daughters, Mrs. Luella Bowman and Mrs. Gertrude Kappel of Dayton; three sons, Kenneth L. of Sarasota, Fla.; John Homer and Paul T. of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Knierim and Maud McCandless of Dayton; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Morris Sons funeral home, 1809 E. Third st., by Dr. E. R. Turner. FORMER DAYTON RESIDENT DIES
Samuel McCartney, Civil War Veteran, Had Taught School in Clark Co.

Funeral services for Samuel H. McCartney, 89, Civil War veteran and former resident of Dayton who died in Springfield Wednesday, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Herr and Craves funeral home in that city. Burial will be in Monroe cemetery.

During the Civil War he served as a member of Co. E, 152 O.V.I.

Surviving him are his widow, Lavina; four sons, Rev. J. H. McCartney, Oakland, Cal.; William A. McCartney of Greenville, Elmer of Piqua and Horace E., a clerk in the Dayton postoffice.

He was born near Springfield, and taught school in Clark co. when he was a young man. Later he settled on a small farm near Vandalia, where he lived a long time. In 1900 he removed to Dayton, making his home here about 15 years and then removing to Virginia where he lived a short time. The last dozen years of his life had been spent in Springfield.

Mrs. Pearl Z. (Aunt) McClure, age 97, of East Dr. in Oakwood, died Friday. Aunt Pearl was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior. Survived by a foster daughter, Patsy Beauregard of Dayton; nephews Eugene Rahn of Dayton and Gordon MacFarland of Sarasota, Fla.; great-niece, Diane Graham. BURIAL IN CALVARY

Miss Mary McCloskey, 19, died Sunday at 11:05 a.m. at the Stillwater sanitarium. She was a lifelong resident of Dayton. She leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McCloskey, of 542 Deeds av.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Barrett and Mrs. Helen Gadowski; four brothers, Frank, Lawrence, Joseph and Michael McCloskey.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the residence and at 9 a.m. at the Holy Cross church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Died - On Tuesday last, Mrs. McClure, consort of William McClure, of Green county.

Died yesterday, after a painful illness of ten or eleven days, William McClure, sen. of Montgomery county.

The death of General Alexander McDowell McCook occurred early yesterday morning after an illness of about ten days at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Charles A. Craighead, 217 West Monument avenue. The sad news of his death, which was soon heralded upon the streets and throughout the country, brought sorrow to all who knew him personally or by reputation. General McCook came to Dayton on May 23d, and it was while here that he was stricken and death relieved his sufferings yesterday morning.

He was first stricken on Monday evening, May 25th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Craighead, and recovered partially from the first attack. At 6:30 Friday morning after another stroke, he passed away. His widow and daughters were with him during his last days.

General McCook was a man of attractive manner and was admired both his bravery as a soldier and his upright character as a man. He was a favorite wherever he was known, and his death has been the cause of much genuine sorrow.

General McCook was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, on April 22, 1831 General McCook was the son of Major Daniel McCook, head of the �Tribe of Dan,� of the �fighting McCooks.� Daniel McCook, who was the second son of George McCook and Mary McCormack, was born in Pennsylvania and after his marriage to Martha Latimer they came to Ohio and settled in New Libson and later in Carrollton. At the beginning of the war he was in Washington, and although 62 year of age, he at once tendered his services to President Abraham Lincoln.

Each of his eight sons, then living also promptly responded to the call of the President for troops. Of this family there were engaged in military services besides the father, Major Daniel McCook, Surgeon Latimer A. McCook, General George W. McCook, Major General Robert L. McCook, General Alexander McDowell McCook, General Daniel McCook, Jr., Major General Edwin Stanton McCook, Private Charles Morris McCook and Colonel John H. McCook. Another son Midshipman J. James McCook, died in the naval service before the rebellion.

Of the family of Dr. John McCook, who was a brother of Daniel McCook and an uncle of the deceased general, there were engaged in the service five sons, making a total of 15, every son of both families all commissioned officers except one, who was killed in the first battle of Bull Run, and who declined a commission in the regular army, preferring to serve as a private volunteer.

General McCook�s father, the venerable Major Daniel McCook, was mortally wounded in the famous Morgan raid into Ohio, and died on the following day, July 21, 1863 in the 65th year of his age. He is buried at Spring Grove cemetery as are also several of his illustrious sons, and by whose side the remains of General McCook will be placed for final repose on Monday afternoon next.

His first wife was Kate Phillips, daughter of the late Jonathan D. Phillips, of this city, who died some years ago. Subsequently he married Miss Colt of Milwaukee. His widow and three children by his first wife survive him, they being Mrs. Baker, wife of Major Baker of the army. Mrs. C. A. Craighead of this city, and Mrs. Dunlop of Washington, D. C.

The interment will be at Spring Grove, Cincinnati, Monday.

Roberta Sue McCool, 9 months old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCool of Johnson rd, died at the residence Friday.� Surviving also are a brother, Glen; a sister, Jerry; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Scott of Middletown, and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy McCool of Bradford.� Private funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Morton Funeral Home, Vandalia, by Rev. The body of John J. McDonald, who died Wednesday in Alburquque [sic], N. M., arrived in Dayton last night and was taken to the Merle Alspach funeral parlors, 1838 North Main street. Funeral services will be held there tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

John McElhaney died at his residence near Sulpher [sic] Grove, in Wayne Township, Monday, after a long illness. The deceased was one of the oldest citizens of the township, being upwards of seventy-five years old. As a citizen and neighbor he was highly esteemed, and at different times filed important public positions. For over a half century he was an active member of the Methodist Church, but it could not be said that he was a sectarian. He was in hearty sympathy with other churches, attended them when convenient and aided in their support. For many years he had been sorely afflicted with asthma, and his death was constantly expected. Perhaps few men ever bore long, continued suffering more patiently than he bore his. When for days at a time he breathed with the greatest difficulty he would struggle with the greatest difficulty he would struggle through without a murmur. Five children survive him. His funeral will be held to-day at Holden chapel, near Sulphur Grove, and he will be interred at the Beardshear cemetery, a few miles north of the city.

The funeral of W. H. McEnheimer, who passed away Thursday at his residence, 209 McDonough street, will be held Monday afternoon from the late residence. Rev. Brown will officiate. The burial will be made at Woodland cemetery.

The deceased was 78 years of age and leaves a number of relatives to survive.

Mrs. Anna McGath, wife of Reader McGath, who passed away Saturday at the Miami Valley hospital after a brief illness, will be buried Tuesday afternoon from her parents' residence, 1220 Xenia avenue. The deceased who was in her 21st year, leaves two small children, a boy, Leroy, and a baby girl, Marie Pearl, besides her husband and parents. Her death has touched deeply the hearts of her loved ones as well as a large circle of friends. Her husband who was employed in Columbus, arrived in Dayton Saturday afternoon too late to see his wife before she died.

DEAD AFTER LONG ILLNESS

The death of Terrence McGovern after an illness of a number of years' duration of cancer of the stomach, occurred Sunday afternoon at the home of his son-in-law, Harry Johnson, 137 Shartle street. He has resided in this city for a number of years and was well known. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Mrs. Ella McGovern; his daughter, Mrs. Harry Johnson, and one son, Michael McGovern. The funeral will be held at the house Wednesday morning at 7:15, and at Sacred Heart church at 8 o'clock, with interment in Calvary cemetery.

Funeral of Miss Mary T. McGrath, daughter of Patrick and Mary McGrath, will be conducted Monday at 8 a.m. from the residence, 203 Grove av. And at 8:30 at Our Lady of Roseary [sic] church. Burial in Calvary.

Burial for Cyrus W. McIntosh, 42, son of the late A. Bert McIntosh, who died Sunday night in this residence, 1847 Wayne avenue, will be in Woodland cemetery, Xenia, this afternoon following funeral services which are to be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie L. McMahon, who died at her residence, 208 S. Dutoit st., following an extended illness, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the residence with H. W. Kellogg of the South Park M. E. church officiating. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. A. McMahon, who died Saturday morning at 5:20 o'clock in her residence, 16 Albert apartments, will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John Harrison, Vero, Fla., Mrs. Charles Grandel, 1101 W. Second st., and Miss Carrie McMahon. She had been a resident of the West Side for many years.

David McMullen died at the family home on west Durrant street, Monday afternoon. He has been confined to his bed for about three months, being sent thereto by an accident which occurred in February, in which he fell upon the ice and sustained a fracture of the hip. He had almost recovered from the fracture but the vital forces were so reduced that he could not rally from the shock.

Deceased was born in Montgomery county, Ohio Sept. 18, 1819. When less than a year old, his parents moved to Wayne County, Ind., and later to St. Joseph county. Here he resided until 1874, when he came to Iowa, settling in this county. He bought a farm southwest of town, near Windy Knoll, where the family lived until about four years ago. They then moved to their present home in Harlan.

The greater part of the long life of the deceased was spent in St. Joseph county, Indiana. For many years prior to his removal therefrom he was believed to be the oldest settler in the county. He married there in July 20, 1841 to Miss Elizabeth Bainter, who survives him. Four children were born to them. They are: G. E. McMullen of Irwin, Maggie E. Elser of Cherokee county, Sarah E. McMullen and Lizzie M. Gillett of Harlan. All were present at the funeral, which was held at the house Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, conducted by Elder Meyers of the Dunker church. Burial was made in the city cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth McMullen died at the family house in this city, Sunday noon. Her death was caused by an acute attack of pneumonia, and her last sickness was of a few days of duration. The funeral was held at the home, Tuesday afternoon, Elder Washington Wyland officiating and Rev. L. R Thomas assisting.

Elizabeth Bainter was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, May 12, 1825. Her father's cabin stood upon ground where is now the large city of Dayton. When five years of age, her family moved to what is now South Bend, Ind. and was the second white family to settle there. She was united in marriage to David McMullen, July 20, 1841. Herself, husband and family moved to Shelby County, Iowa, in October, 1874, settling on a farm in east Harlan township. They remained there until about 1890, when they moved to this city. The husband died some five years ago.

Five children were born to them. Of these, one died in infancy, and the remaining are: Mrs. Samuel Elser of Cherokee county, George McMullen of Irwin, Miss Sarah McMullen and Mrs. Lizzie Gillett of this city.

Mrs. McMullen was a member of the Dunker church, and lived a life consistent with its teachings. Most of her life was spent among pioneer surroundings, which developed in her a character of strength and nobleness peculiar to the pioneer. A large number of friends and neighbors attested their appreciation of the deceased by attendance to her funeral.

Funeral services of Fern Louise McSwain, 3 year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McSwain, who died Thursday at the residence of her grandparents, will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 from the residence, 47 Virginia av., and at 2 o'clock at the Colorado Avenue Baptist church. Burial will be in Willowview cemetery.

The body of John McWinters, who died at 9 o'clock Thursday morning at his residence, 2825 East First street, has been removed to Riesinger's undertaking establishment. Funeral services will be held there Monday. The deceased leaves his sister, three daughters and three sons.

Funeral service for William Megeber, infant son of David and Angela Megeber, 211 Stillwater av., was held at 11 a.m. Thursday followed by burial in Calvary cemetery. The child born at St. Ann's hospital Wednesday morning, died soon after birth.

Mrs. Dorotha Mendenhall, 31, of 1006 Aukerman street, died at 1:15 a.m. yesterday at Grandview hospital in Dayton. She had been suffering from Leukemia for the past seven months. Mrs. Mendenhall, wife of Ray Mendenhall, was a member of the Lewisburg EUB church. Surviving in addition to the husband are the parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Lawrence Hutton, RR, Lewisburg, paternal grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Hutton of Dayton, and a brother, Leonard Hutton of West Alexandria. Services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Barnes funeral home with Rev. Charles Messmer officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery at Lewisburg. Mrs. Susie L. Mendenhall, 54, died at Seven Mile, O., at 12:50 p.m. Monday. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. at Plock's funeral home, West Alexandria, and at 2 p.m. at the Friends church in West Elkton. Burial will be in Somerville cemetery.

Mrs. Hannah H. Meredith, 60, widow of Aylett R. Meredith, passed away Saturday afternoon. Her death came as a sudden shock to all her friends for her illness was but of a few days duration. She was a woman of noble character and gifted with many graces of mind and heart, and her death is deeply felt by all who knew her. The funeral will take place from the residence of her son-in-law, Harry C. Furnas, 610 River street, Tuesday morning at 3 o'clock. The interment will take place at Woodland cemetery. She leaves six children, Mrs. H. C. Stolz, Mrs. A. J. McConnon, Mrs. Harry Furnas, William Meredith, Raymond Meredith, all of Dayton and E. a. Meredith of Indianapolis, and many relatives who deeply mourn her loss.

Again another faithful man is taken from us, one we have always respected--Mr. John Merkle, the well-known police officer. He was a man of firmness when duty required it, but charitable and kind to the deserving. He has proven himself a hero, every ready to uphold the law. The same spirit for love and justice ever burned brightly within his bosom, and he faltered not in his duty if danger was before him. So he lived, so he died. Men appear upon and disappear from the stage of life, as wave meets wave and parts upon the troubled waters. He has gone, but is not forgotten. The marble slab or chiseled shaft on his honored grave may in time rumble to the dust, but the record of his life work shall ever live as a lasting monument to his name and honor. His many noble acts and words will return to us because examples which exert an influence upon the hearts of all true men. Officer John Merkle has gone home, and the wife and four children will mourn only as aching hearts can mourn, for the void that has been made cannot be filled; the silver chords are loosened, the golden bowl is broken, and Mr. Merkle has passed over the river, and may the night winds that wafted his soul across the dark channel be laden with touches of the happy land above. The wife has lost a kind and loving husband, and the children a priceless parent. Let us hope that his star in glory will shine as bright as his good deeds done her. He was a brave and true officer. May God bless his wife and four children, who deserve the sympathy of all.

Mrs. Bertha Merrill (nee Wiedeke), wife of Charles E. Merrill, died at her home, 101 Oak Knoll dr., at midnight Monday. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Marie; one son, David; one sister, Mrs. Anna Nurrenbrock of Dayton, and one brother Gustav Wiedeke of this city.

Funeral services for Edward E. Messler, 51, son of Martin A. Messler, who died at 11 p.m. Friday after a lengthy illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the late residence, 706 Bolander av. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Messler; a daughter, Mildred; three brothers, Harry, John and Raymond, and three sisters, Mrs. Clifford Becker, Mrs. Henry Becker and Mrs. Martha Deshong.

Mrs. Anna Metter died at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday at Sienna home, 6111 N. Main st. She was 81. Mrs. Metter was a member of the Altar society of St. Anthony church and Knights of St. John auxiliary No. 79. Surviving are five sons Albert and Rudy of Dayton, Joseph and Ollie of Detroit, and Richard of Columbus; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Luthman funeral home, 365 Xenia av., by the Knights of St. John. Funeral of Frank Metzger, 41, who died Friday night, was held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the residence, R.R.4, and at 10:30 at the Church of the Brethren in Trotwood. Burial was in Bear Creek cemetery.

Ezra Meyer, 55, of Laura died at 10:30 a. m. Saturday in the Good Samaritan hospital where he was admitted Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Hazel.

Funeral services for Barbara Jane Miller, 11, of 2528 Hoover av., who died Monday, were to be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the residence and at 3 p.m. at the Hollandsburg Christian church with burial in the cemetery there. Rev. Howard S. Pospesel is in charge of the services.

Word has been received here that a former Daytonian, named Charles A. Miller had died in Talipanis, Indiana Territory, after a short illness. He is thought to have two sisters living here--Mrs. Anna Shauck and Miss Rosa B. Miller--whom he had not seen for some years.

Funeral services of Edward R. Miller, 2-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Miller, 133 Sterling avenue, were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Burial will be made later. The body was temporarily placed in a vault in Woodland cemetery. The child died at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning at the house. The mother is ill at one of the local hospitals as present.

MILLER, Effie J., age 84, of 3218 Indian Ripple Rd., Dayton, passed away 3:10 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Home. She was an area resident her entire life, born December 5, 1899 in Montgomery, Ohio. The daughter of Henry W. & Effie J (Gebhart) Semler. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, a member of the Aero Chapter No. 536 O.E.S., Fairborn. Survivors include her husband, Harvey K., one daughter, Ellen L. Boggs of Venice, Florida; three grandchildren, David & Dennis Boggs and Barbara Frye; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edna Schildknecht of New Carlisle. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in Burcham Funeral Home, Fairborn where services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Roger O. Burlingham and Rev. Donald Calvert officiating. RETIRED FARMER'S FUNERAL PLANNED

Funeral arrangements are being completed for Frank Miller, 90, who died Wednesday at 3:20 a.m. at his home, 41 N. Gettysburg av.

Born in Germany, he had been a resident of the West Side for many years. He was a retired truck farmer. Surviving are his widow, Bridget; one son, Charles, and a daughter, Mrs. John O'Hara.

DIES AT POORHOUSE

Joe Miller, 71, for the past two years an inmate of the county infirmary, died at the institution Wednesday night, after an extended illness. Miller is survived by a sister, supposed to live at Reading, Ohio, but the infirmary authorities were unable to locate her Wednesday. The remains will probably be interred in the infirmary cemetery.

Okay Miller, 36, died in his residence, one mile east of Medway, yesterday morning at 9 o'clock, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in his late residence, and at 2 o'clock in the Mennonite church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his widow, one child, five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Himes Miller, 48, wife of Dan J. Miller, of Martindale av., Shiloh, who died at 10 a.m. Saturday following an illness of two years, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bradford and Routsong funeral home, W. Third st., with Rev. Fay Le Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Louisa Millikin was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania, November 2, 1832, and died Sunday morning, August 19, 1906. When she was 9 months old her parents, Barney and Sarah McSherry, settled on a farm about one mile and a half southeast of Brookville. She was converted in 1850 and joined the church. March 22, 1855, she was married to Daniel Millikin. In 1858, they purchased the farm on which she resided until her death. She and her husband became charter members of the Lutheran Church at Brookville. March 22, 1905, Mr. and Mrs. Millikin in a quiet way celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

She leaves her husband, one son, Samuel Millikin, three grandchildren, one sister, and two brothers. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at her late home, Rev. Belmer, of Osborn, officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Millikin was a descendant of the famous Yost Swope, who was born in Germany, February 22, 1678, and who in 1704 came to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She was of the sixth generation.

In Dayton, September 2?th, Maud Mills, daughter of Edwin and Rebecca Mills, aged one year and one month. Left when six weeks old to the care of a loving grandmother, the little one, so precious to the whole family circle, has now gone to join the mother in the heavenly home.
