MRS. PEARL R. JACKSON DIES OF PNEUMONIA

Mrs. Pearl R. Jackson, 29, wife of Lawrence N. Jackson, died Friday afternoon at her home, 63 Bond street, her death resulting from bronchial pneumonia. She is survived by her husband, three children, her parents, Dr. and Mrs. H. C. Reinhart, formerly of Dayton but now residing at Pasadena, California; two sisters, Mrs. Erith [sic] Shoup and Miss Opal Reinhart. Mrs. Jackson was born in Covington, Ohio, but has been a resident of Dayton for a number of years. She is a graduate of Earlham College, Richmond, Ind., and is widely known both in that city and in Dayton. She taught school for a short time in Huntington, Ind., before her marriage. The funeral will probably be held Wednesday, after the arrival of her mother, Mrs. Reinhart, from California.

JACKSON, William H., age 88 of 2500 Dryden Rd., passed away Saturday. He was a retired owner-operator of the Jackson Sand Co. for 40 yrs. A member of Springboro Christian Church. DEATH OF A WELL-KNOWN WOMAN

Mrs. Elizabeth Jeffryes [sic], aged 53, a very well known resident of the East End, and a woman that was unusually well-loved among a large following of friends, passed away Wednesday about 11 a.m. after a long illness of paralysis. Left to mourn her loss are her aged mother, two sisters, Miss Rebecca Jeffryes and Mrs. Nettie Craig of St. Mary's, Ohio and Henry Jeffryes of Greenfield, Ind.

A brief funeral service will be held Thursday evening at the residence and will be conducted by Rev. C. E. McStravick, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church. The body will be taken to the former home of the deceased in Cedarville for burial, and will leave this city over the Pennsylvania at 7:40.

JOHNSON, (Frances) Anne W. Age 76 of Kettering passed away Sunday, August 03, 2008 in Kettering. Anne was born in Shelbyville, IN, August 5, 1931. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Frances (Messick) Walker. Anne is survived by her husband, of 56 years; Robert E. Johnson, 1 brother & sister-in- law: Robert M. (Linda) Walker of Louisville, KY: 2 nephews; R. Craig Walker of Hamilton, OH and Richard (Suzanne) D. Walker of Taylorsville, KY; 3 grandnieces; Elizabeth Latta, Catherine and Sarah Walker. Anne was a 1954 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, with a BA in French. She was a member of the Montgomery County Chapter of the OGS and former member of the DAR. She and Bob, over the years, have published several books of cemetery and church records for genealogical reference. DIES AT GALLIPOLIS EPILEPTIC HOSPITAL
Mattie Johnson, Jefferson Township Woman, Passes Away - Authorities Look for Relatives

A message from the authorities of the Gallipolis Epileptic hospital received by Probate Judge Dale, Friday announced the death at that institution of Mattie Johnson, of Montgomery county. The woman was committed to the hospital two years ago. She formerly resided in Jefferson township and a search is being made in that section of the county for relatives who will take charge of the remains.

Mrs. William A. Johnson, 76, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry C. Kreitzer, Vandalia. She leaves her husband, William A. Johnson, and a daughter, Mrs. Harry C. Kreitzer. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Vandalia Lutheran church. Rev. Weissrock will officiate. Burial will be made in Memorial Park cemetery.

Perry E. Johnson, 53, died at his residence, 1310 Xenia av., at 3:45 a.m. Monday. A member of the East Dayton U.B. church, he was for nine years associated with the Cappel Furniture Co., and formerly doorman for the old Union Trust Co. He was assistant custodian of the Masonic Temple, member of Mystic Lodge No. 405, F.& A.M., Unity chapter No. 16, R.A.M., Reese Council R. & S.M., and Reed Commandery No. 6, K.T.

He was also a member of the A.A.S.R. Valley of Dayton. The body may be viewed at the Whitmer Bros. funeral home, 239 N. Ludlow, from noon Tuesday until services at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be in Shiloh Springs cemetery. Surviving are the widow, Edna; a brother, Frank W. Johnson of Dayton, and a sister, Mrs. Clara May Woods, of Detroit, Mich.

WILLIS S. JOHNSON DIES IN PITTSBURGH

Funeral services for Willis S. Johnson of Pittsburgh, who died Wednesday afternoon at his home in Pittsburgh, from influenza, will be held in Cincinnati, Friday morning at 10:30, at Spring Grove cemetery. Mr. Johnson is well-known in Dayton, as his wife is a former Dayton girl. She was, before her marriage, Miss Kate Harries. They had spent much of their time the past few years on their sugar plantation in Cuba. Besides his wife, Mr. Johnson leaves a nine-year old son, Willis S. Jr.

Funeral services for Rev. Joseph Joiner, 33, of 321 Homestead av., pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist church, who died Friday morning of pneumonia at the Miami Valley hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tabernacle Baptist church. Surviving are his widow, Andre Lee Joiner, mother, Emma L. Joiner; one stepson, Nathaniel Dunson; one daughter, Emma Lee Joiner; three brothers, Herbert, Thomas and Lee, and one sister, Louvell Williams.

Funeral services for Mrs. Della Jones, 68, of 128 Weakley st., who died Wednesday at Miami Valley hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Temple. Burial will be in Greencastle cemetery. Friends may call at the McLin funeral home, 1130 Germantown st. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Maggie Russell of Dayton.

Mrs. Joenna Jones, 51, of 229 Homestead av., died at 7:42 a. m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth hospital. Among survivors is her husband, James.

Following services at the Loritts funeral parlor at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the remains of Julian Jones, 41, 324-1/2 South Sprague street, will be sent to Mt. Sterling, Ky., for burial. Death occurred Saturday night at Miami Valley hospital.

Mr. Levi B. Jones died at the home of Mrs. E. S. Jones, No. 205 West McPherson street, aged nearly 91 years. He had been a resident of this city seventy years. Fifty years ago he with his brother David operated the tannery on the north side of Monument avenue from Main street bridge to Wilkinson street.

He was born at Morgantown, Ha. , and after coming to Dayton became active in Episcopal church matters, and never did wrong to a human being knowingly.

The deceased leaves a sister, Mrs. Early V. Jones, who lives at Germantown, Pa. He also leaves four grandchildren. They are Charles D. Jones and Anna L. Jones, of this city; Early E. Jones, of Piqua, and Mrs. E. T. Morrison, of Birmingham, Ala.

The funeral services will be held Wednesday from Christ Episcopal church. The interment will be at Woodland.

Funeral of the Late Sergeant Lewis Jones�Last Honors to a Veteran

Late on Tuesday evening last, the remains of Sergeant Jones were received from the Northwestern Branch at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he had died, having gone there on a short visit with the hope of improving his health, but, as it has transpired, without any beneficial results. The respect entertained for him by his comrades here, as well as his own request, to be buried amongst those whom he had so long known, led to a request that his body be sent to the Central Branch for interment. Arrangements had been made by the Grand Army, of which he was a Past Post Commander, to have the coffin lie in state at their usual meeting place, and it remained surrounded by the Post and U.S. flags, and a tasteful but abundant collection of flowers and evergreens, and at 2 o�clock p.m., yesterday, the funeral ceremonies took place. An escort of the Brown Guard, under the command of First Lieutenant James M. Bermingham, preceded by the band, attended the body to its last resting place. The pall bearers where two officers of the G.A.R. and four of the Brown Guard, the hearse being followed by Colonel J. B. Thomas, Chaplain Earnshaw, G.A.R. Chaplain, A. Leechman, Captain D. F. Giddinger, and Post-Adjutant Campbell, as chief mourners. The remainder of the procession consisted of members of the G.A.R. under the command of Colonel Isaac B. Stevens, the Mexican veterans under Captain John B. Brookbank, the Fire Department under the direction of Foreman Wm. Welsh.

Chaplain Earnshaw made a recapitulation of the merits of the deceased and his untiring exertions for the general welfare of his comrades, and commended his quiet and unexceptionable conduct during the eight years he had been connected with the Home.

Funeral services for 10-week-old Mary Ann Jones, daughter of William and Helen (Fishwick) Jones, 118 North Quintin street, who died at 9 o'clock Sunday morning, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the residence, followed by burial in Memorial Park cemetery. Surviving, besides the parents, are a sister, Edna, and a brother, Paul.

AGED PIQUA LAWYER CLAIMED BY DEATH

Piqua, O., Oct. 19 - Matthias H. Jones, 93, the oldest member of the Miami County bar, died here today.

Miss Oliva Jones, 21, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Jones, 45 Ringgold street, Tuesday afternoon. She leaves her parents, two sisters and one brother. The body will be taken to Wilmington, West Va. for burial.

JONES, Ruth Coleman, age 78, of Dayton, died Friday. Mrs. Jones was retired from NCR. Survived by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Smith and her husband, Raymond; sisters, Mildred Bedwell and Clara Rineer; brothers, Richard Coleman, Clyde Coleman, Arthur Coleman, John Coleman, Clarence Coleman, Paul Coleman and Howard Coleman. There will be no services or visitation. Friends are asked to plant a flower in Ruth's memory.

William L. Joy died Wednesday at 2 a.m., aged 62 years. Funeral from residence, 11 Adams t., Friday at 3 p.m. Interment Woodland cemetery. Friends invited.

Services for Herman W. Judy, 38, of 4011 Middlehurst lane, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Hoyne funeral home, 635 Salem av., by The Rev. Carl B. Eschbach. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Judy died unexpectedly at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at his residence. A native of Washington C.H., he had resided three years in Dayton. He had been a binding machine operator at the McCall Corp. 10 years.

Surviving are his wife, Rita; a daughter Carole Lee of Dayton; a stepson, Thomas Cox of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Riley of Springfield and Mrs. Opal Rockfield of Columbus, and a brother, Bert of St. Louis, Mo.

The death of Mrs. Anna Julick, the beloved wife of Joseph Julick of West Dayton, occurred last midnight just as the sad bells tolled the hour. She had not been ill long, and her sudden summons to the other world, into which she was well fitted to go, came as a shock to the members of her family, and to a large relationship who had loved her dearly. She was taken ill a little over 10 days ago, but no one presumed that her illness would be serious, and up to the last she was confident that she would recover. All that medical skill could do was performed, but all to no avail. Surrounded by a sorrowing husband, children, and relatives, her soul took its flight. Her death occurred just at the time that she and her family were making arrangements to move into a pretty new home they had just purchased. She had planned the comforts for the new home with much eagerness, but death has prevented her enjoyment of them. She and her husband have a large relationship in this city and county, and all mourn the loss of Mrs. Julick. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Julick; three children--Harry, Clarence and Mabel Julick--and one little grandchild. Deceased was X0 [age not legible] and 3 months old. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock with services at the Progressive Brethren church on the Eaton pike, six miles west of Dayton, at 10:30. Six brothers-in-law will be pallbearers.

Helen Justice, 30, died at 4 o'clock Friday morning at the residence, 39 Royal street. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
