He was born in Bavaria, Germany, coming to this country with his parents at an early age and settled in Dayton in 1839. He had spent practically all his life while in this country in Dayton, except a short time in Lancaster, O., and Louisville, Ky. He founded the East Third street firm of John G. and H. N. Gagel, dealers in farm implements and grains, which is now conducted by his son. He was an upright man of fine business sense, and had succeeded in his chosen field.

Survivin ghim [sic] are two sons, H. N. and John L. Gagel, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Burial will be made in Woodland cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Gallagher, 39, who died at the home of Wilbur Jenkins, 630 Lorain av., Friday, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the residence. Burial was in Woodland cemetery.

Paul B. Galster, 57, formerly of Dayton, died Wednesday at Evansville, Ind. He had been sales manager there for Electro-Hygiene, Inc.

Survivors: wife, Myrtle; mother, Mrs. Rose Galster of Pana, Ill.; two daughters, including Mrs. Jackie Steiner of Dayton, four sons; a sister and a number of grandchildren.

RELICT OF PIONEER BUSINESS MAN DEAD
Mrs. Susan H. Garman, Widow of Charles Garman, Succumbs To Stroke of Paralysis

The death of Mrs. Susan H. Garman, widow of Charles Garman, former junior partner of Harman & Garman, occurred at her home, 23 St. Mary's street, after a week's suffering with paralysis. Mrs. Garman came to Dayton from Maryland at an early age and had lived here practically all her life. She was a beloved woman and of great religious zeal. For many years she was one of the most prominent workers of Grace M. E. church, but for the past several years she had devoted her attention to the Christian and Missionary Alliance work. After the death of her first husband, Hezekiah Houghtelin, she was united in marriage to Charles Garman, the well-known carpet dealer. She leaves three daughters, Miss Ella Houghtelin, the well-known music teacher; Mrs. W. E. Harbottle and Mrs. A. J. Ackerman, of Cincinnati, and one son, Charles Garman, of California. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at the residence and will be in charge of Rev. E. F. Aiken, leader of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

Simon, Friday morning, at his residence, two miles west of corporation on Xenia Pike. Funeral will be held from Hawker church Sunday at 2 p.m. Friends invited.

ILLNESS FATAL

William Gassett, 65, brother of Mrs. George Evans, died at the residence of Mrs. Evans on S. Wilkinson st. early Saturday morning following a long illness. He was a native of New York state.

He had been making his home with his sister almost since the death of Dr. Evans. During much of that time he was ill and Mrs. Evans nursed him tenderly. She is the only survivor.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie B. Gates, 41, who died Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at a local hospital, will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Cora Greasner, 533 Hamilton avenue. Burial will be made in Mt. Zion cemetery.

Friends in Dayton were shocked Wednesday morning to hear of the death in Indianapolis of Harry B. Gates, president of the Miami hotel company of this city, a stroke of apoplexy having resulted fatally Tuesday night, according to dispatches received here.

Just five hours before the message was received that Mr. Gates had expired he had been talking over the long distance telephone with John M. Beres, resident manager of the Miami, and the news of his death came as a distinct shock to everybody connected with the hostelry.

Mr. Gates was 55 years of age, and beside being president of the Miami Hotel company was also president of the Severin Hotel company in Indianapolis, his associate in the management of the two institutions being R. H. McClellan. The company has been operating the local house for a few days longer the one year, the first anniversary being celebrated last Sunday, when Mr. Gates was in the city and expressed himself as well satisfied with the business. He came to Dayton frequently and often remained here for several days at a time.

Besides his hotel interests he was prominently connected with other lines of business, being the founder and president of the Climax Coffee and Baking Powder company of Indianapolis. He was also president of the Indiana Hotel Men's association, and was one of the organizers of the telephone company in Indiana.

He had been associated with Mr. McClellan in various lines of business for many years. His father was A. B. Gates, for many years one of the leading men in the wholesale grocery trade of Indiana. Mr. Gates is survived by one son, A. B. gates of Indianapolis, his mother, Mrs. A. B. Gates, and a sister, Mrs. W. H. Lee of Minneapolis, Minn.

No announcement as to details of the funeral had been received by friends here Wednesday morning.

Funeral services for the late Harry B. Gates, president of the Miami Hotel company, and who died early Wednesday following a stroke of apoplexy in Indianapolis, were held in that city Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with services at the home of his so, A. Bennett Gates. Burial was made in Crown Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were Stoke Fletcher, president of the Fletcher-American bank, Indianapolis; Floyd Woods, Dayton; R. H. McClellan, a business associate of Mr. Gates; Max Schatz, Charles Stone and Henry Severin. Honorary pallbearers wee John McGee of Dayton, George Marrot, Charles Steford of Washington, Ind., M. B. Wilson and John Moriarity. Beside Mr. McGee and Mr. Wood, John A. Beres, manager of the Miami, attended the funeral from this city. Friends were present from several other cities.

Announcement has been made that A. Bennett Gates of Indianapolis will succeed his father, Harry B. Gates, in the management of the Hotel Miami in this city and the Severin in Indianapolis. No change will be made in the policy of the business.

Robert Guy Gauvey, 12, died at the home of his parents, Howard and Ann Gauvey, 44 Sherman st., at 7:10 Sunday evening. He leaves his parents, two sisters and his brother. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the late residence. Burial will be made in Hillgrove cemetery.

BRIEF ILLNESS ENDS IN DEATH OF AMOS GEBHART, 83
FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD HERE MONDAY Following a brief illness of only three days duration, Amos Gebhart, 83, passed away Friday afternoon at the Montgomery county home.

The decedent, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gebhart, was the last surviving member of a family of 11 children. He was born in 1852 on a farm north of Miamisburg and for the greater part of his life was engaged in farming in the vicinity of Miamisburg. For the past two years he had been living at the county home, but prior to that time resided several years in Miamisburg. He was a member of the First Lutheran church.

Mr. Gebhart had never married, but leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Gebhart and Schmidt funeral parlors with Rev. C. H. Starkey, Lutheran pastor, officiating. Burial was made in Hill Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Gebhart, the wife of Wm. Gebhart, died at the Miami Valley hospital last Thursday morning at o'clock.

Mrs. Gebhart was born near Miamisburg July 6, 1878, the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Gunder.

She was united in marriage with Wm. E. Gebhart November 23, 1899, the Rev. Dr. Herman performing the marriage ceremony.

Mrs. Gebhart was a faithful member of the Lutheran church, being an active worker in the Sunday school and Ladies Missionary Society, she leaves her sorrowing husband and three children, Arnold, Marcus, and Helen to mourn their great loss.

Mrs. Gebhart had won for herself a host of friends who were shocked to hear of her sudden death.

The funeral services were held from the Lutheran church on Monday at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. S. Herald.

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine (sic) (Kate) Gebhart, 83, of 39 Morgan av., Drexel, a life resident of Montgomery county who died Thursday at the Way Convalescent home, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dayton Reisinger funeral home, 718 Wayne av., by Rev. J. P. Alden. Burial will be in Lower Miami cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Charles W. Gebhart, age 70, of 520 Jefferson Street died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Mr. Gebhart was a retired Dayton Post Office Employee and retired president of Gebhart Electric. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Ruanna; four sons, Robert L. of Miamisburg, Allen of West Carrollton, Charles I. of New Lebanon and Denny M. of Carlisle; four daughters, Mrs. Ted (Claris) Utermoehlen of Viroqua, Wisconsin, Mrs. Mirko (Karen) Ilich of Valencia, California, Mrs. David (Frances) Smith and Mrs. Alvin (Sylvia) Azbill; both of Miamisburg; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from Gebhart and Schmidt Funeral Home with Reverand Oliver Rajala officiating. Interment will be at Hillgrove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday.

MRS. CORA GEBHART SERVICES SATURDAY

Services of Mrs. Cora E. Gebhart, 60, who dies yesterday at her home, 112 North Main street, Centerville, will be held at 2 p. m Saturday at the Zion Lutheran church, Moraine City. Burial will be in David cemetery. Friends may call at the residence Friday and Saturday until the time of services.

Mrs. Gebhart was born in Montgomery county and lived in this region all her life. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church.

Surviving are her husband, Edward; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Gregg and Mrs. Leo Gebhart, both of Centerville; five brothers, Clarence Burger, Dayton, William, West Carrollton, and Charles, Lester, and George, of Miamisburg; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Dutcher and Mrs. Evan Ziegler, both of Miamisburg, and Mrs. Thomas Sipe, Dayton; and three grandchildren, Robert and Norma Jean Gregg and Susan Jane Gebhart, all of Centerville.

David Gebhart, age 72, died Monday at his home, 212 Louis street, Dayton. The deceased until a few years ago was a farmer and resided northeast of Miamisburg. THE LATE COL. GEBHART

Col. Emanuel Gebhart, one of the oldest citizens of Miamisburg, died in that place on the 22d inst. He was buried in the Lutheran Cemetery there, yesterday, and his funeral was attended by a large concourse of his late comrades and friends.

Colonel Gebhart was�we believe�a native of Pennsylvania, where he was born in the year 1786. At an early age he removed to Virginia, where he lived but a few years, when he came to Ohio, and settled in Miami township, in the year 1808 or 1809. In conjunction with John and Peter Treon, Col. Gebhart laid out the town of Miamisburg. He was married to a Miss LaRose, in the vicinity of Miamisburg, after he arrived there, and purchasing a farm from his father-in-law, he cleared the farm on which he lived with his excellent wife for about sixty years, a most worthy and exemplary lady, whom he survived only about four weeks.

Colonel Gebhart was one of the most progressive men of his age, and was ever noted for his disposition to accept new situations, when they had the approval of his judgment. Early in life he became a prominent Democratic politician, and he was for many years chairman of the Democratic County Conventions in this city; and his influence was potent in his township, and wherever he was known. He was a Justice of the Peace in Miami township for many years, and he was also a Commissioner for the county for two or three terms. Col. Gebhart severed his connection with the Democratic party in the year 1854, we believe, and afterwards acted with the Republican and Union part up to the time of his death. Col. Gebhart was a prominent member of the Lutheran Church for many years, and he was also a Mason; and was buried with honors of the fraternity. He was in many respects a remarkable man; but few of his pioneer comrades survive him.

EVA A. GEBHART, 83, DIED MONDAY; RITES YESTERDAY

Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. yesterday, at the Gebhart & Schmidt Funeral Home, for Mrs. Eva A. Gebhart, 83, of 511 Jefferson Street who died at 9:25 a.m., Monday, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, where she had been a patient a week.

The Rev. Oliver Arne Rajala of the First Lutheran Church officiated at the services. Burial was in Hill Grove cemetery.

Born near Ellerton, a daughter of the late John and Alice Bechtol, Mrs. Gebhart had resided in the Miamisburg community many years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Mary Martha Circle Number Two of the church and the Pansing Sunday School Class.

Surviving are her husband, Irvin; a son, Charles W. Gebhart of Miamisburg; four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Michael, Mrs. Ruth Lucas and Mrs. Grace Kinsey, all of Dayton, and Mrs. Daisey Riggs, Miamisburg; a brother, Harry Bechtol of Ellerton, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Henry Wellington Gebhart, 90, who died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.H. Harper, R.R. 2, Franklin, was held at 2 pm Wednesday, at the Harper residence, with Rev. R. A. Harshman officiating. Burial was made in the Germantown Cemetery.

Mr. Gebhart is survived by two sons and two daughters, C. I. Gebhart of Miamisburg; James W. Gebhart of this city; Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Celia Hell of Miamisburg.

DEATH OF JACOB B. GEBHART

One of the oldest pioneer residents of this vicinity died Tuesday night, August 19, at his home east of town, where he had resided fifty nine years, aged nearly eighty one years. His aged wife, a daughter of Rev. H. Heincke, deceased, still survives.

The deceased was born October 26, 1838 on the Ridge; west of town, and was married to Miss Sarah Lourine Heincke on November 22, 1860 by Rev. C. Albrecht. Seven children were born, of whom five survive -- Charles, Albert, Mrs. Minnie Briggs, Elmer and Edward; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Three brothers, Perry, Amos, and Elmore Gebhart and one sister, Miss Mary Gebhart also survive.

Funeral services will be held at the residence on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. S. Herold.

The deceased was well & widely known, and was a man of strict integrity and was universally esteemed and respected.

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Gebhart, age 45 years, who passed away at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Sunday at noon, were held Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock at her residence, 927 Cottage avenue, and at 8:30 o'clock at Our Lady of Good Hope church with Rev. Bernard J. Robers officiating. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery, Dayton.

Mrs. Gebhart, who has been seriously ill for two weeks, submitted to an operation at St. Elizabeth hospital a week ago, and death resulted form complications.

The deceased was born in Troy, Ohio, January 31, 1885, and has lived in Miamisburg for eight years. She is survived by her husband, James H., one daughter, Mrs. Edna Mangot; two sons, Frances and James, at home, and one grandson. She leaves four sisters, Mrs. Tracey Pressel, of this city, Mrs. Mary Eglus, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith and Mrs. Bernice Sharp, all of Dayton; two brothers, Leo Weiser, of his city, and Joe Weiser of West Carrollton.

Mrs. Gebhart was a faithful member of Our Lady of Good Hope church.

WOMAN, 84, TAKEN BY DEATH MONDAY
MISS MARY GEBHART, LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF COMMUNITY WAS ILL TWO MONTHS

Funeral services for Miss Mary Gebhart, aged 84 years, who passed away early Monday morning at the home of Mrs. Margaret Recher, with whom she resided on North First street, were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence and at two o'clock from First Lutheran church. Rev. Herbert Hamberger, Springfield, officiated and burial was made in Hillgrove cemetery.

Miss Gebhart had been in failing health for the past several months but had been confined to her bed only four days preceding her death. Death was due to organic heart trouble.

She was born March 2, 1846 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gebhart. She lived all her life in this vicinity and she was for many years a member of the Lutheran church.

Surviving her is one brother, Amos, who also resides at the Recher home.

Mary R. Gebhart, age 87, of 630 Jefferson Street in Miamisburg, died Friday at Washington Manor South.

Survivors include five nieces, Mrs. Adam T. (Mildred) Allen of Kettering, Mrs. John (Virginia) Staley and Mrs. J. W. (Shirley) Bennett, both of Columbus, Mrs. Myrtle Doty and Mrs. Bernice Martin, both of Miamisburg, four nephews, Mr. Joe Theobald of Centerville, Don Trumbee of Columbus, and Carl and Ralph Linebaugh of Miamisburg.

Mrs. Gebhart was the wife of the late Howard G. Gebhart, former owner and founder of the Gebhart and Schmidt Funeral Home.

Services were held Monday afternoon from the Gebhart and Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Roderick King officiating. Burial was at Hillgrove cemetery.

In her home on East Maple Avenue at 8 pm last Saturday, February 19th, Mrs. Walter E. Gebhart, nee Susie Catherine Maue, died, aged only 28 years, 8 months, 7 days. She had on Wednesday, February 16th undergone a surgical operation. She was a daughter of Charles & Amanda Brubaker Maue. On December 16, 1908, she became the wife of Walter E. Gebhart. One little daughter was born to the happy young couple. She is survived by her sorrowing parents, her brother, Lester Maue, her sister, Mrs. Walter C. Durst, her grief stricken husband and only daughter, Bernice. She was an exceptionally noble and excellent Christian woman and a devout and devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church. At 2 pm Tuesday February 22nd, she was buried from the St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, Rev. F.W.E. Peschau, D.D. delivering the sermon on the words, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." She was laid to rest in Hill Grove Cemetery.

ROY GEBHART RITES HELD IN ZION CHURCH

Services for Roy E. Gebhart, 62, who died last Friday at his home on Lamme road, Dayton, were held Monday at Zion Lutheran church, Moraine City. Interment was in Zion cemetery.

Born in Miami township September 1, 1887, Mr. Gebhart lived in this region all his life. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Gebhart; six daughters, Mrs. Luther Hanger, Mrs. Louis Granger, Miss. Vera Gebhart, all of Dayton, Mrs. Herman Armstrong of Fairborn, Mrs. Glenn Clark of Kenton, Ohio, and Mrs. Leroy Gerke of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three sons, Luther of Xenia, Lee of Fairborn, and Paul of Dayton; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Benner of California, Mrs. Mary Pfaffof Peru, Ind., Mrs. Arlena Fay of Dayton, and Mrs. Margaret Shade of Fairborn; a brother, Clifton of Fairborn, and 18 grandchildren.

WILLIAM GEBHART SERVICES TODAY

Funeral services for William H. Gebhart, 82, who died Monday at the Rahn convalescent home, Miamisburg, will be held this afternoon at the Gebhart and Schmidt funeral home, with Rev. C. H. Stark officiating. Burial will be in Hill Grove cemetery.

Born in Miamisburg Mr. Gebhart lived here most of his life. He was a farmer and a member of the Jr. O.U.A.M., and a member of the First Lutheran church.

He had been in failing health for the past several years and came here two weeks ago for a visit. He was taken more seriously ill while here and entered the rest home a week ago. For the past two and a half years he had made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gebhart in Akron.

Surviving are his two sons; Arnold, of Akron, and Marcus, of West Carrollton; a daughter; Mrs. Lester King, of Dayton; and two grandchildren.

WILLIAM GEBHART RITES HELD HERE

Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 p. m. for William H. Gebhart, 83, a retired tobacco buyer and life long resident of Miamisburg. He passed away at 7:05 p. m. Saturday, January 27, at the Good Samaritan hospital, Dayton.

Services were conducted from the Brough Memorial home with Rev. Joseph W. Frease officiating and burial was in Hillgrove cemetery.

Mr. Gebhart retired as a as a tobacco buyer fir the General Cigar Co. on South second street, Miamisburg, about 10 years ago and worked at odd jobs until the death of his wife, Minnie, three years ago. She died at the age of 78 as the result of asphyxiation from a leaking gas stove in their home on South Second street.

After the death of his wife, Mr. Gebhart made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Edith Gallagher, 3118 West Hillcrest Avenue, Dayton. Only other survivors are two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

CEMETERY CARETAKER 50 YEARS IS DEAD

Edward C. Geiger, 65, of 327 College Park av., for 50 years the caretaker of Woodland cemetery, died in Miami Valley hospital at 10:30 p.m. Sunday of injuries suffered Nov. 17, when he fell while trimming a tree at the cemetery.

Geoger [sic] started working at the cemetery when a youth. Survivors include the widow, Rose, and two sons, Carl and Wilbur.

Funeral services for Louis Geis, 72, who died Wednesday afternoon at the residence, rear 360 Xenia av., were conducted Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Grill, 61 George st. The body was taken to Cincinnati Saturday morning to be cremated.

Catherine Mary, wife of John C. Geisler, died Jan. 7 at 9 a.m., aged 55 years, 1 month, 21 days. Funeral Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7:15 a.m. from the late residence, 422 Xenia av., and at 7:45 a.m. at St. Mary's church. Interment Calvary. Friends invited.

GEISLER--Estella E., died Oct. 23, at 4:15 a. m., daughter of Fred C. and Lana Geisler (nee Knab), age 25 years. Funeral Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 a.m., from residence, 108 S. Brown, at 8 o'clock from Holy Trinity church. Interment Calvary.

Funeral services for Fred Geisler, 69, lifelong resident of Dayton until a year ago, who died Saturday morning in Newark, N.J., will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Westbrock funeral home and at 8:30 a.m. at the Holy Trinity church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Madeline, and two daughters, Mrs. Laura Storer of Dayton and Mrs. Marie Galbraith of Newark, N.J.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Gemin, 71, a resident of Dayton for 32 years, who died Monday at the residence 20 Neal av., will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the house. Burial will be made in Woodland cemetery. She leaves her husband, Emil, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Epstein of Reading, Pa.

NELLIE GEMMAKA DIES OF BURNS

Services for Mrs. Nellie Gemmaka, 75, who died Saturday at Miami Valley hospital from injuries she sustained Jan. 28 in a fire at her home, will be 11 a. m. Wednesday at the Dayton Reisinger funeral home.

She had been pulled from the flames of her home, 217 Henry street, after firemen found her lying unconsious on the floor. The cause of the fire was a defective lamp cord.

She is survived by two sons, Morris C. Vail, of Bellbrook, and Frank T. Gemmaka, of Dayton; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Ludlow, of Cincinnati; six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Lebanon cemetery.

HARRY GEPHART, 57, BURIAL IS TUESDAY

Services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Ellerton Reformed church for Harry Gephart, 57, of R. R. 2, Miamisburg, who died Friday at Jewish hospital, Cincinnati, after an extended illness.

He was a member of Minerva Lodge, 98, F&AM; the ancient and Scottish rites, Dayton; JOUAM; the bear creek grange, and the Ellerton Reformed church.

Rev. J. P. Alden officiated at the services and burial was in Ellerton cemetery. The JOUAM lodge held services at 7:30 p. m. Monday, the Masonic lodge at 8 p. m. and the bear creek grange at 8:30 p. m. at the Gebhart and Schmidt funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Iva; two sons, Maurice of Anchorage, Alaska, and Donald, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Leis, of winter Haven, Fla.; five brothers, Herbert of Dayton, Floyd and Roy of Miamisburg, Thurman of Los Angeles, and Robert of San Francisco, and six grandchildren.

Gephart Rites Held Saturday
Widow of Perry Gephart Had Been Invalid For Past Several Years

Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Phillips Gephart, aged 82 years, who died at her home on East Pease avenue, West Carrollton, last Thursday morning at 2 o'clock, were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the First Reformed church, this city, with Rev. H. Grady Shoffner, officiating. Interment was made in Hill Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Gephart who had been an invalid for the past several years, was born near Franklin and had lived her entire life in Montgomery County. For a number of years, she with her family had resided on the Gamble farm, north of Miamisburg. Following the death of her husband, Perry Gephart, 18 years ago, she made her home with her son, Robert in West Carrollton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and a son, Peter Gephart, who died about 10 years ago. Besides the son, Robert, she leaves four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is the last member of the Phillips family.

JOHN G. GEPHART DIES AT AGE 59; FUNERAL DEC. 16

Funeral services for John G. Gephart, 59, of 10628 Wood Road, who died Sunday morning of a heart attack at his home, were at 1 p. m., Wednesday, at the Gebhart and Schmidt funeral home.

The Rev. Arthur Miller of the First Church of God, Fairview Subdivision southwest of Chautauqua, officiated at the services. Burial was in Hillgrove cemetery.

A resident of Miamisburg community his entire life, Mr. Gephart had been employed at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gephart and was a member of the First Church of God at Fairview. Surviving is his wife, Lovell.

MABEL GEPHART, 76, DIED FRIDAY

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the Eaton Funeral Home, Franklin, for Mrs. Mable Gephart, 76, of 351 N. Main street, Miamisburg, who died at Grandview Hospital, Dayton, Friday 9:15 p.m. Interment was at Hill Grove cemetery here.

Born at Franklin, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Templin, Mrs. Gephart was widow of the late Vernon Gephart who died in 1949. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Helen Warrick of Columbus; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

FORMER RESIDENT DIES, MARGARET GEPHART, AGE 80

WEST CARROLLTON-Funeral services were 2 p.m. yesterday, at the Gebhart & Schmidt Funeral Home, Miamisburg, for Mrs. Margaret Lambert Gephart, 80, of 251 Parkway, Cincinnati, formerly of West Carrollton.

The Rev. Chesley Howell of the Hartwell Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati, officiated at the services. Interment was in Miamisburg's Hill Grove cemetery. Mrs. Gephart died early Sunday at Drake Hospital, Cincinnati. A native of Miamisburg, she was daughter if the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lambert and was widow of the late Peter Gephart who died in 1928. She resided in West Carrollton many years before moving to Cincinnati. She was a member of the Daughters of America lodge and of the W. A. Reiter Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, both of Miamisburg.

Surviving are a son, Donald E. Gephart, Middletown; three daughters, Mrs. Harold Bennett, Mrs. Ruth Martin and Mrs. Ausben Moses, all of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren and six great-children.

P. E. Gephart, aged 52, died at his home on Main street, West Carrollton, after a few hours sickness of acute indigestion. Mr. Gephart reported for work Friday but came home in a short time complaining of his stomach, Saturday he seemed some better and took much worse Saturday evening dying Sunday morning at one a.m. Mr. Gephart was a highly respected and well known citizen, serving several years on the Board of Education, Red Cross and Community Work. He leaved [sic] beside his wife, Mrs. Bennett of Germantown, Ruth, Donald and Martha Jane at home. Funeral was held from the Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon. Burial at Hill Grove cemetery, Miamisburg.

ROBERT GEPHART, 76, DIED SUNDAY

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the Gebhart and Schmidt Funeral Home, for Robert Gephart, 76, formerly of Miamisburg, who died Sunday morning in Dayton after a long illness.

The Rev. Floyd Powell of the First Methodist Church was officiating clergymen. Burial was in Hill Grove cemetery.

Mr. Gephart, a native of Miamisburg was a life-long resident of the area. Surviving are a brother, Roscoe Gephart, and a sister, Mrs. E. M. Garner, both of Miamisburg; one nephew and one niece.

GERKEN - Louisa, widow of Herman H. Gerken, Friday, September 2, at Ann Arbor, Mich., aged 73 years. Intimate friends can view the remains at Berk, Fry & Co.'s establishment, where they lie in state until Tuesday noon.

William Gerkey, 57, of 2043 Neva avenue was pronounced dead on arrival at 5:13 p.m. yesterday at Miami Valley hospital. He was found slumped over the steering wheel of his auto at Woodland Hills boulevard and Coronette avenue. Sheriff's deputies said he apparently suffered a heart attack.

Funeral services for Paul Lee Gest, 802 Gondert av., who died Monday at St. Elizabeth hospital will be held from the residence Wednesday at 8:30 a. m. and at 9 a. m. at Holy Trinity church. Interment will be made in Calvary cemetery.

GFORRER - The funeral of Elizabeth Gforrer, five years old, who died Thursday morning, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from the parents' residence, 255 Samuel street. Burial will be made in Woodland cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Gibson, 72, of 3115 E. Third st., who died Tuesday at 5:10 p.m., will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the residence. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Edna G. Wolfe, Mrs. Carrie Crosby and Miss Thelma Gibson, all of Dayton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Brawley Gilbert, 49, of 14 W. Great Miami blvd., who died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Miami Valley hospital of pneumonia, will be held at the home of her mother, Mrs. May Brawley, of 434 W. Third st., Greenville, Tuesday afternoon with burial in the Greenville cemetery. She had been employed in the hardware department of the Elder and Johnston Co. for the past 20 years. Besides her mother, she is survived by one brother, Thomas Brawley, of Greenville, and a cousin, Mrs. Harry Ballman, of Dayton.

Raymond S. Gilbert Sr., 64, of 148 S. Smithville rd., died at 1:50 a.m. Friday at Miami Valley hospital after a sudden illness.

Born at Minneapolis, he had resided 14 years in Dayton. He had been a management analyst at the Air Material Command ten years.

Surviving are his wife, Mattie; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth V. Moorman of Dayton; a son, Capt. Raymond H. [sic] Jr. of Patrick Air Force base, Fla; two brothers, Leslie of Dayton and Dr. William of Silver Springs, Md., and four grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hoyne funeral home, 1817 E. Third st., by The Rev. Grady Schoffner. Burial will be in Crittenden, Ky. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 1 p.m.

The funeral of Harry M. Gilfoil, who died in Detroit, Mich., Thursday, will be held Monday morning at 7:30 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. J. Sherry. 423 East May street, and at 8 o'clock at St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be made in Calvary Cemetery.

PRESSMAN IS FOUND DEAD IN BUILDING
Body of H. B. Gillette Is Discovered Lying on Table

H. B. Gillette, Weaver and Summit streets, pressman at the Bochzinger Printing company, was found dead in the print shop of that company at 10:30 o'clock last night, Coroner E. E. Kimmel was notified. Mr. Gillette worked alone at the printing office at night. His body was discovered lying across a table. He apparently had been dead several hours when found.

Gillette, John B., age 74, of 685 West Rahn Rd., died Mon. He was a charter member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior. He is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Helen G. Thompson of Trotwood, 2 sons, Donald B. of Miamisburg; John F. at home; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thurs. at 1:30 p. m. at Routsong Funeral Home, Brown St. at Irving Ave., Rev. J. Alfred Updegraff officiating. Interment will be Davids Cemetery. FUNERAL OF REV. A. GILLILAND

Rev. Adam B. Gilliland, a very aged minister of the Presbyterian Church, died in this city day before yesterday. The funeral of this venerable man took place yesterday at the Fourth Presbyterian Church (Miami City). The Rev. Mr. Hopkins, of the T? Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati, who was connected with him by marriage, delivered a very interesting biographical sketch of the deceased, and more addresses were made by Rev. Mr. Hughes, Rev. Dr. Funkhouser and Rev. M. Greybill, the pastor of the church, who made a touching statement of his friendly relations with the departed "Father in Israel." Mr. Gilliland was the oldest member of the Dayton Presbytery and possibly of the Synold of ?, being in his ninety-first year when he died. He was licensed to preach sixty years ago. His remains will be taken to Venice for interment.

George Ginther, 69, of 24 N. Jersey st., died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday at Good Samaritan hospital. He belonged to the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church and the Modern Woodmen of America, Davis Camp No. 9307. He lived in Dayton 43 years. Surviving him are five daughters, Mrs. Dora McCullough of Rochester, N.Y.; Mrs. Ann Johnston of Cedar Falls, Ia.; Mrs. Russell V. Campbell, Mrs. Mary Holden and Mrs. Irma Helfinstine of Dayton; one son, Ernest Ginther and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the residence. Rev. W. R. Grunewald will officiate. Burial in Memorial Park.

Services for Mrs. Mary E. Glassey, 31 of 4509 Pennlyn drive, will be held Saturday at the St. Gregory church in St. Louis. Friends may call at the Bradford and Connelly funeral home, Far Hills and Schantz avenue. from 3 to 9 p.m. today. Mrs. Glassey died Tuesday at Good Samaritan hospital following an extended illness.

Kathleen Glaze, 2-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Glaze, died Thursday afternoon at the residence, 1001 Hayes avenue. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

NEW YORK WOMAN PASSES AWAY HERE

Mrs. Mary Farrington Glen, 81; a native of New York City, died Wednesday at the residence of her son, Syracuse avenue, R.F.D. No. 13. She had been living here about two years, having come here from New York. She leaves two sons, Benjamin K. Gantt of Dayton, and Oakley E. Gantt of New York.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence.

Funeral services for John A. Glosser, 16, who died Saturday, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in his late residence in Bellbrook. Burial was made in Bellbrook.

Services for Charles H. Glover, 82, retired painting contractor and father of Charles E. Glover, managing editor of The Dayton Daily News, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Morris Sons Funeral home, 1809 E. Third st. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

Mr. Glover died at 11:14 p.m. Saturday at Stillwater sanatorium. He resided at 539 W. Fourth St.

Born at Harrisonburg, Va., Mr. Glover lived in Dayton since 1910 and was a member of Central Christian church.

Surviving besides Mr. Glover�s son are his wife, Mary; a daughter, Louise Glover of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Laura P. Leake of Dayton and Mrs. Hattie Laugh of Cumberland, Md.; two brothers, Leon of Chester Pa., and Homer of Franklin, W. Va., and two grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Caroline Glueckert, 93, a life-long resident of Dayton, who died Friday at her residence, 27 Henry st., will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Marker funeral home, 1706 N. Main st. Burial will be in Memorial park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 10 p. m. Monday.

SUICIDE'S RITES BEING PLANNED

Funeral services were being completed Monday for Peter Gmaz, 61, of 2225 E. First st., who ended his life at his home Sunday by drinking poison. Coroner H. W. Harris said he had been despondent over ill health.

Gmaz was born in Yugoslavia and had lived in Dayton for about 25 years. In recent years he had repaired shoes, in a small shop connected to his home.

Survivors include the widow, Barbara, and four children, Louis, Frank, Caroline and Lena.

The venerable Bernard Goetz, whose wife Crescentia died Friday last, and who was lying at death's door as his consort in life passed away, died at the family home, South Brown street, yesterday. The encoffined remains of husband and wife, father and mother now lie side by side, and their mourning children are doubly afflicted with grief. Both husband and wife had been bedfast with sickness for weeks, and at the fateful moments of their illness it seemed as though the lives of the two would go out together. The wife died first but the husband speedily followed. The funeral services over the remains of husband and wife will be held in Holy Trinity Church Tuesday morning.

DEATH OF MRS. GOETZ
HER HUSBAND IS LYING AT THE POINT OF DEATH

Mrs. Crescentia Goetz, wife of Bernard Goetz, and mother of Sergeant Leo Goetz, of the police force, died at the family home, 1125 South Brown street at about 2 yesterday afternoon. The old lady had been confined to her bed for the last nine weeks with a complication of ailments, which on account of her age, foretold her death within brief period.

Bedridden with disease, and near his wife, lay her husband, and as the children gathered about their mother in the final moments of her life, the doubly sad spectacle was presented of their aged father also nearing death's door, and as the sun rises today, his spirit may have fled to join that of his wife.

Mrs. Goetz was in her 73d year, and was a native of Baden, Germany. She came to this country when a girl 8 years old. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Goetz located at Canton, Ohio. They subsequently removed to Dayton, where they resided for the past 33 years. Six children survive. They are Sarah, Leo, Louis, Charles, Matilda, and Sister Aleoyousa, of the Notre Dame Convent, and who is now located at Hamilton.

Bernard Goetz, the husband and father, is a brother of Rev. J. F. Goetz, pastor of Holy Trinity church at which the funeral, possibly a double funeral, that of husband and wife, will be held Monday.

POTTERY FIRM FOUNDER DIES
Isadre Goetz with Oakwood Company for Fifty Years

Following an illness of one week Isadore J. Goetz, one of the founders and vice president of the Oakwood Pottery Co., died Tuesday morning at 2:30 o'clock at his residence, 1423 S. Brown st.

Mr. Goetz was a life-long resident of Dayton and had been connected with the Oakwood firm for 50 years.

He leaves his widow, Anna R., one son, Jerome, and one daughter, Isabelle.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 8 o'clock in Holy Angels church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Carl Good, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Good, died at noon Thursday at the residence of his parents, R.R.4. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

GOOD, Mrs. Florence, age 84, of 4716 Kings Hwy., passed away Friday. Survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Claude (Rosemary) Slife; 1 son, Richard, both of Dayton; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. Services for Frank Oscar Goodrich, 53, of 18 Vine st., who died Friday, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at his home with the Rev. R. D. Barnard officiating. Burial will be in Willowview cemetery. Friends may call at the residence after 1 p.m. Sunday. A native of Clinton co., Mr. Goodrich had resided in Dayton for 12 years. He had been employed by the Miami conservancy for 11 years. At 10 o'clock Thursday morning the funeral of George Goodson was held at the chapel and burial was made in Woodland cemetery. He died Monday evening at the St. Elizabeth's hospital, where he was removed after he was taken suddenly ill at the Wehner hotel on Sept. 24. Westbrock, Wayne avenue, undertaker took the body in charge. His brother, who lives in the northern part of the state, came to Dayton and claimed the body, Wednesday.

Services for George Graef, 71 of 111 Howard street, will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Dayton Riesinger funeral home, 718 Wayne avenue, by Rev. Helen Correll. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. today. Mr. Graef died at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Graham, who died Thursday in her residence, 1438 West Third street, will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in her late residence. Burial will be made in the family lot in West Alexandria. Surviving are her husband, James W. Graham; three children, Clyde, Gladys Elizabeth and Alice Marie; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. R. Mr. Gray had Attended Market in This City for a Number of Years and was Widely Known

Michael Gray, an aged resident of Butler township, about one and one-half miles north of Vandalia, met with a tragic death while hauling coal from Tippecanoe City yesterday morning.

With a heavy load of coal he was descending a steep grade and by some means tripped and fell under the wagon, which passed over his body, causing injuries that resulted in his death within a few minutes.

Venerable Mr. Gray was well known here, having attended market during a period of at least forty years. He was a prominent citizen of the community in which he lived and his deplorable fate is the source of profound regret among a wide acquaintanceship.

His wife had been dead for some time and since her death his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gray, have lived with him.

Mr. Gray was about 78 years of age, and was one of the honored residents in the community in which he lived.

His many friends here will be pained to learn of his sad fate.

Green, Mrs. Martha, 45, of 4109 Midway Ave., died Saturday. A native of Belle Ellen, Ala., she resided in Dayton 17 years. At the National Home for D. V. S., near Dayton, Ohio, on July 31st, 1881, John Grieves, aged 63 years, late of Company G, 1st Regiment Rhode Island Light Artillery. Cause of death, cholera morbus.

William H. Griffin died Jan. 10 at 2 p.m., aged 69 years 8 months and 16 days. Funeral Friday morning, Jan. 13, from the late residence, 720 East First st., at 7:30 o'clock and at St. Joseph's church at 8 o'clock. Burial Franklin, O. Friends invited.

August Grigoleit, one of the most respected German residents of the city, died at this home, 702 River street, Sunday night, after a short illness. He was born in Germany, October 1, 1853, came to this country when a young man and settled almost immediately after coming to this country in this city.

He was a man of that sturdy, strictly honest character that makes our German population the foremost American citizens. He was exceedingly popular among a wide circle of friends and acquaintances who will deeply regret his loss.

He is survived by three sons, five daughters and one grand-daughter, all of whom were at his bedside when he expired. These include Mrs. C. E. Slorp of this city, Mrs. H. C. Block of Chicago, Bertha, Mary and Martha Grigoleit, and George, Christof and Hilbert Grigoleit.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's German Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. J. G. Mueller, pastor of that congregation. Interment will be made in Woodland cemetery.

Funeral services for John Erasmus Grillmeier, who died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the home of his son, Edward, 99 Dover st., will be conducted Friday at 7:15 a.m. from the Grillmeier residence and at 7:45 a.m. at St. Mary's church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Sarah J. Grove, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gephart, was born in Miamisburg, Ohio, August 21, 1842, and died in Joliet, Ill., November 14, 1925, having achieved the age of 83 years, two months, and 23 days.

In 1873 she was married to Mr. George A. Grove. Mr. Grove was for many years prominent in business and political life and served several terms in the Ohio State Senate. He passed away several years ago, and Mrs. Grove leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Miss. Grace Grove and Mrs. Eva Grove Blackhall, of Joliet, Ill., and many other more distant relatives and a large circle of friends.

In early life she gave her life to Christ and at the time of her death was a member of the Lutheran church of Miamisburg. All who knew her will testify to the fine character she possessed. She had so many warm friends because she always showed herself friendly and manifested a keen interest in everybody. She lived not for herself, but to make the world better, brighter, and happier. Her motto was-
I live for those who love me,
For those who know me true,
For the heaven that smiles
Above me.
And the good that I can do.

One of the fine characteristics of her life was the most cheerful optimism. She tried to see the bright side of life and make the best of everything. She always denounced the folly and needlessness of worry and counted the blessing of life rather than dwell upon its trials and adversities. It is said that to come into her presence was like going out into a June morning when the sun was shining, the bright dew was sparkling, and the birds thrilling the air with their happy songs. We believe she could say with Abraham Lincoln. "I never knowingly planted a thorn in any human heart, but always tried to pluck a thorn and to plant a rose wherever a rose would grow." When, because of infirmities of life she could not visit her old friends, she wrote many letters to them and these were full of sunshine to cheer and encourage. When her hearing failed so that she could not very well go to church and enjoy the service, she listened to the great music and sermons over the radio and thanked God for the advance in science that made this blessing possible to her. For the last few years she has enjoyed the good home of her loving daughters and her presence was a great blessing and inspiration in the home. She enjoyed good health till a few days ago and the stroke of apoplexy came and she sank rapidly until she fell asleep in Jesus her Lord. But till life's last moments had fled she showed by her glowing countenance when she could not speak that her Christian faith was firm and unshaken, and that she had "lived for Christ, to die and would be gain."

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. W. Hoffman, D. D.

Funeral services for Adolph Grunert, 65, who died Monday at his residence, 2600 E. Fifth st., will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Morris Sons funeral home and at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Vine Street Hill cemetery chapel in Cincinnati.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alvina H. Guenther, 66, whose death occurred Friday at her residence on Jalappa rd., R.R.4, Dayton, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at her residence, with the Rev. W. A. Gruenwald officiating. Burial will be in Bear Creek cemetery. Friends may call at the residence after 5 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Guenther was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church. She was a native of Germany. Surviving are four sons, Carl M., Frederick G. and Erich W., all of Dayton, and Herman F. of New Lebanon; nine grandchildren all of Dayton and one sister and two brothers residing in Germany.

Funeral services for Carl R. Guenther, 68, who died at 1 a.m. Sunday at his home, R. R. 4, Jalappa rd., will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the residence and at 2:30 at the Bearcreek Brethren church with burial in the church cemetery. He had been a residence of Dayton for 40 years and is survived by his widow, Alvina; four sons, Carl M., Frederick G. and Erich W., all of Dayton, and Herman F. of New Lebanon, and nine grandchildren.

Christian Gugel, 75, died at 7:40 o'clock Monday evening at the residence, 307 Quitman street, following an illness of progressive paralysis. He was a widely known resident of the southeastern part of the city, and the father of John Gugel, police telephone operator.

Mr. Gugel was born near Hamilton, Butler county, Oct. 16, 1841. During the civil war he joined the 35th Ohio regiment, serving three years. He came to Dayton in 1879, and lived here since that time.

He was a charter member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran church, Hickory and Perrine streets, and had ever taken an active part in the congregation.

He leaves his wife, four sons, William, Edward, Francis and John Gugel, three sisters, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence, and burial will be made in Woodland cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Sena Guin, 62, who died at her home on the Bessie Little road Friday, will be held at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Ida B. Wood, and burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Funeral services for Milton Gunckel, 83, of 343 Edgewood av. were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles K. Roberts, 2537 Ravenwood av. Burial in Woodland.

Martin Gutzentat, 96, died at 9 p. m. Wednesday at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Louisa H. Henke, 108 Notre Dame av. He was born in Germany. He leaves four daughters, Mrs. Henke, Mrs. Bertha Weinrich, Mrs. Johanna Boeck of Verona, Ore., and Mrs. Amelia Tenhaus, in Germany.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Henke residence. Burial will be in Willowview cemetery.
