Albert, son of Samuel Meeker, met with a painful accident a few days ago. While engaged in crushing corn his hand accidentally was caught in the mill and his thumb was torn off. Dr. P. D. Githens was called upon to render the necessary surgical assistance.
Our Society of Improvement decided to hold its meetings on Tuesday evenings hereafter. Some of our debaters are worming up. We can not mould bullets from col lead.
Several sleighing parties assembled at the residence of John Steiner on last Thursday and had quite an enjoyable time.
Mrs. John Shupbach and son of Powhatan, and Mr. and Mrs. William Moser visited DAniel Fankhauser last week.
Samuel Fankhauser and daughter Caroline and Misses Caroline and Louisa Zesiger are on the sick list.
Revival services at Mars Hill has closed and now the literary society will be the attraction.
George Miller and family of near Jerusalem have moved into our community.
Charles Weber of Clarington was in our community a few days ago.
