Christmas around here passed off very quietly, only that the majority of the best fox hunters of the county were trying to have a fox chase, but we are sorry to say that it proved a failure.

Literary at Hinton school house was started three weeks ago last Friday eve, and seems to be getting about shaped up again. The boys are all anxious to see it go on a boom.

It has been noised around that there was a wedding in this vicinity. who can give us the true account of it? If someone will tell us, we may serenade him.

Protracted meeting at Salem started the 28th of December, to last one week, services conducted by Rev. Jesse Beard.

Miss Minnie Flouhouse from Clarington, one of the Oaks' best girls, is visiting her parents and friends over New Years.

Mr. James Wiggiams, one of our best fox hunters, killed one of the sly thieves about two weeks ago.

Miss Joe Bottner, who was very sick with quinsy a week ago, is said to be improving.

School at this place is progressing finely under the management of E. J. Blatter.
