MISS OUDIA OKEY
Miss Ouida Okey was one of the two hundred girls selected from five thousand applicnts for service in the U. S. Marine Corps. Miss Okey is in the Casuality section of the Adjutant and inspector's Department an likes her work immensely. A Graduate of Woodsfield High School and having a busness traning secured at Marietta Business College, she is well fitted for her work.
The Marine Girls are an organization of, by and for the Marine Corps. They look after the details connected with discharges, allowances, the welfare of the wounded, thier recreational activities and many other things. Besides this, the girls drill, do guard duty, ext. In fact the girls are Marines. Their ranking titles are the same and their punishment for infractions of discipline is the same as it is for their big brothers in the service for similar violations.
Woodsfield High is distinctly honored in Miss Okey's selection from her Alumni, and is proud of her accomplishment not forgetting that her abliity and personality were also employment factors in determining her fitness for the service.

Sharp, Ouida Sharp nee Okey
Mrs. W. J. (Ouida) Sharp, 80 years old, died Saturday, March 23, 1974, in Cleveland, Ohio, following a short illness.
She was born in Woodsfield, Ohio, September 4, 1893, the daughter of the late James Weir Okey and Margaret Watson Okey.
Mrs. Sharp served as a Corporal, in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War I, being one of the three girls from Ohio chosen to serve in this Division.
Surviving is one niece, Mrs. Ord C. Blackledge of Cleveland, Ohio.
Her husband preceded her in death several years ago.
Services were held Monday, March 25th, at the Daniels Funeral Home in Lakewood, Ohio.
