Dear researchers,
I need some help. Do you know if the SAW MILL on the 80 Acers of land that was owned by the Heirs of GEORGE HANEY in 1871 plat Map, Brown twp, Miami Co still exist today? It is in the very north and west corner of Brown Twp. near a fork in a stream (do you know the name of this stream? Do you know the name of this road?) Joe thinks the Spring is Spring Creek. It appears that the house was on the main road and the saw mill on the other side of the stream that crossed the main road. This road could be the twp line road? My guess is it is between Casstown-Fletcher Rd and Lost Creek-Shelby Rd on the edge of Miami-Shelby E Rd. I do not know if Haney land crossed County or twp lines because my plat map only shows Brown Twp. Do you know someone who can look up on plat maps in that area and see if old George owned more land near the saw mill in the Spring Creek twp or in Shelby Co. Does anyone know if the House and saw mill are still standing.( Or what is on that Land Today) What ! is the address/owners of today, could someone look this up? would like to visit that land on my next trip from South Carolina. I have copies of HANEY land exchanges but now I want to see them on a map.

Also there is a Book (I think) called: Brown Twp Churches From W. R Kinder Notes - at least this is what was at the top of the page, I have. Does anyone have a copy of W. R. KINDER NOTEST? On this page: United Brethren Church Book 38 page 247 May 19, 1863 $ 1 John Smith & Mary to Jacob Boyer, Jacob Haney, John Smith, Joseph Haney, and William McKinley, Trustees of the United Brethren Church. I would like to know more about this Book.

( Joe tells me that the United Brethern Church is called (United) Methodist today) IWhere did the people migrate from in PA if they were United ( METHODIST) Brethren? Where in Germany did the (Methodist) United Breathren migrate from? Does the above United Breathern Church Book have more information in it that could help me with my George Haney Family? What METHODIST United Brethern Records are available, for Miami Co, or Shelby Co. or Hamiliton Co. OH? Does anyone in our group have access to them. I am trying to find out more about George Haney and his 20 Children.
Thanks a bunch for your help.
Thank you so much for your time.
Alice

Hello all. I have an interesting list of people I thought I'd share - maybe it will help others, and it may help me to find an elusive SMITH ancestor.

One of my ancestors, or a sibling, sold family Bibles in Troy and Piqua, as well as in Richmond and Winchester, Indiana. We have the "sample" Bible used to show prospective buyers what the Bibles looked like. It was published in 1872 by George McClean, Philadelphia, and came in German and English. Here is the list of subscribers as best as I could read them:

Mrs. William Shewey, Crown St.
Mrs. Alma Y. DeKesh, Plum St.
Mrs. Milly Martindell, Yellow Spring St.
Mrs. William Chaffee, Tippecanoe City
Mrs. Bessie Ratcliff, Tippecanoe City, Sec. St.
Mrs. J. S. Norris, Tippecanoe City, Main St.
D. F. Anglebarger
Mrs. L. Chaffee, Main St.
Pamela Clark, Main St., Troy
Linnie Hatten, Franklin St.
Helen E. Grosvenor, Mail St.
Miss J. Deweese, Canal St., Troy
D. C. Bowen, Mulbury, Troy
O. Kelly, Mulbury
Mrs. H. Rosson
William H. Thatcher, Piqua
Dr. K. C. Hall, Piqua
?. ?. Coffin, Richmond, Ind.
E.L. Watson, Winchester, Ind.

It would help me to know, if there are any descendants of these people out there, when these Bibles were purchased. Also, what religion were the people who bought them? On our sample Bible, the name "M.A.R. Smith" is engraved. I haven't been able to find this person on any records in Miami county yet. Does anyone have any information that might help me?

Thanks,

Carol Colvin

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has access to these census records and could get me any information shown on Solomon. Actually any LITTLETON information in Miami Co would be wonderful. I'm trying to find missing family lines that disappeared from Loudoun Co, VA in the early 1800's with notations of 'went west'. I have found some in Clermont Co and Hardin Co and I'm hoping this Solomon is the missing Solomon I've been looking for.

I have a lost ancestor and I am hoping you or someone out there can help me find her. I am searching for Elizabeth MAST, wife of Leonard ELLER. She was daughter of John Mast Sr. and Barbara Harman Mast, born NC? ca 1760. Leonard and Elizabeth had 8 children:
Adam, b ca 1780 (my direct line, and I would love more info on him!)
John
Joseph b 28 Oct 1788
Sarah
Henry
Mary Lucinda
Jacob
The Eller family along with relatives, including Mast, Fouts, Hoover, and others moved from NC about 1801 to Union twp, Miami Co OH where Leonard settled section 35. Many of their children were married in Miami Co, and in 1828, Leonard established the village of Frederick Twon. Land deeds show that Elizabeth probably died between 13 Jan 1831 and 27 Jun 1831, because the deed dated 13 Jan 1831 was co-signed by Elizabeth and Leonard Eller, but the next land deed, dated 27 Jun 1831 was signed by Leonard only. ( I got much of this info from the George Michael Eller book). Leonard Eller bought land in Hamilton Co IN as early as 31 Jan 1826, and he died there 20 Sep 1839. He is buried in a private Eller cemetery in Hamilton, co IN. Thier son Joseph settled in Hamilton Co IN, and did Leonard and Elizabeth move there also?, with Leonard continuing land business in Miami Co OH? Are there any records of when or where Elizabeth died, or where she is buried, in Miami Co, OH?, or did she die in Hamilton Co IN? Any information on this would be very much appriciated. I read some where that this Eller family was German Baptist, tho John Mast (Elizabeth's father) was Amish.
Thank you.

Wish to discover the ancestry, parents, siblings, etc. of Joseph DUNHAM who married Mary "Polly" MILLER. Mary was dau/o Enoch & Eliza (ROSS) MILLER of Westfield, Essex/Union Co., NJ. It appears Joseph & his wife & children & their families emigrated to Hamilton & Miami Co., OH. It appears Joseph may have died in Hamilton Co., OH, but a record of his estate (1837) appears in Miami Co., OH where many of his children lived. It appears Mary possibly remarried in Hamilton Co., OH to a MILLS. It is believed that the DUNHAM family may have been from or near the area of Westfield, Essex/Union Co., NJ. Is anyone out there researching the DUNHAM families of this area. A son, Ross DUNHAM, was b ca 1788. Ross DUNHAM lived in Miami Co., OH.

I wonder there could be a connection between this Abraham Castle and my ggg- grandmother, Elizabeth Castle SILER. Elizabeth was the wife of John SILER. They moved from Berkeley County, (West) Virginia to the Urbana, Champaign County area in 1841. Jacob died in 1854, and the family then moved to Miami County.

Elizabeth was the daughter of John CASTLE, of Berkeley County (West) Virginia, and was born ca. 1806. She was still alive for the 1880 Miami County census, but I do not know when she died or where she is buried.

Hello everyone,

Just joined your list and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Joe UMHOLTZ from Ebensburg PA and am involved in researching the Umholtz surname. The Genealogical index for Miami County OH has a number of Umholtz hits(see below) so I thought maybe someone on this list may be working on putting this all together. I currently have a database with 7000 + names and have not yetbeen able to connect these folks to the PA group. Any advice on how to obtain the documentation below is most welcome. Also, in addition to the names below I'm looking for information on one Mathias Umholtz who went to Starke County OH. Haven't been able to locate Starke County on OH web. Do they have a site? a list? Mathias appears to be listed in the FTM census index CD for 1840 with the surname spelled UNHOLTHY. Would like to track this information down.
Thanks in advance.
