Surnames: DAILEY, DELONG, YORK
Researcher: Kristina Krause
Email: [email protected]
Date posted: Monday, March 2, 1998

Following are my Miami County family groups of interest:

GROUP No. 1

Father: George Washington DELONG
b. 1799 in Marion Co, VA
m. 4 Mar 1827 in Miami County, OH to Rebecca YORK
d. 5 Jan 1855 in Allen Co, IN

Mother: Rebecca YORK
b. 1809 in OH
d. 2 Jan 1851 in Allen County, IN

Children:
1. Joel DELONG (see Group No. 2)
b. 1828 in OH
2. Alexander DELONG
b. 1831 IN OH
3. James DELONG
b. 1833 in OH
m. 3 Nov 1853 in Allen Co, IN to Polly DAILEY
d. 24 Dec 1877
4. Mary Ann DELONG
b. 1835 in OH
m. 10 Mar 1859 to Gilbert I Patterson
5. Samuel DELONG
b. 1835 in OH
6. Joseph G DELONG
b. 1840 in Perry Twp, Allen, IN
d. 2 May 1931
7. Solomon DELONG
b. 1841 in Perry Twp, Allen, IN

The first child listed above is a "SUSPECTED" child of this union. So far, I have found no proof - another DELONG researcher's information included Joel as a child of this union. I am attempting to verify that the Joel DELONG listed below as the father of Family Group No. 2 is the same as the Joel appearing as a child in Group No. 1. Several points of circumstantial evidence would support this: The year and location of birth matches and Joel DELONG was later found to be living in Allen Co, IN during the same time period as the other children of George and Rebecca DELONG.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone else that is interested in the DELONG's from Miami Co, OH as well as from others that might be able to point me to local resources. Sometimes it is hard to know where to look when living so far away from the locality in question.

I hope someone will be able to clear up a mystery for me. I have a James William JULIEN, dob abt 1810 married to Martha KNOTT, dob abt 1807. They were both born in Ohio. I am seeking their parents. I believe, but have no absolute proof that James was the son of Eli Julien, grandson of Peter Julien Jr., ggrandson of Peter Julien Sr. and gggrandson of Rene de St Julien. The census records indicate that Eli had a son of the same age, but there were no names. I have nothing about Martha. Any help would be appreciated.

Next mystery is Erastus E. JOHNSON. Erastus was married to Phoebe SILLS dob 1838 in Champaign Co. Ohio on 9-8-1855. I have some Sills information, but would appreciate more. I don't have any information about Erastus. Amanda Jane Johnson dau. of Erastus and Phoebe, married David Wilson Julian, son of James and Martha Julien. They were married in Wells Co. Indiana and raised a family there.

Sarah Sills, sister of Phoebe, married Calvin CARNEY. Their son Alonzo married Ida Mae FOREMAN daughter of Leonard Foreman and Julia Anne Bowen.

Another son William married Loretta Julian (relationship unknown). This was in Wells Co., Indiana. One of my sources indicates that a Sarah Carney married Charles Julien, son of James and Martha, but that isn't the wife I have for Charles. I do have a Sarah listed as the wife of Alexander Julien, brother to Charles and David. I would love to clear up that mystery and find out who the parents of Sarah were.

Julia Anne BOWEN wife of Leonard had a brother named Andrew and a sister, name unknown. There is another possible brother named Henry. Wells Co. Indiana.

Joseph Henry Foreman, son of Leonard and Julia Anne, married Nancy Elizabeth FOUST. Their daughter Elvira Mae married Dorse Julian, son of David and Amanda Julian. Nancy had a brother named Abe. Wells Co. Indiana.

I hope someone can clear up my mysteries.

Greetings all!

I am new to the list and new to genealogy, hoping someone can help me with information about my gggrandmother, known only as Grandma CHAMBERS, who lived in Piqua. She died sometime in the early 1940's and was buried in Piqua. She raised her grandson, Charles Edward COLLINS.

Charles's father, Edward B. Collins is a mystery, so any information about him would be deeply appreciated (i.e. name father and mother.) We think he may have been from Kentucky and may have had a brother in that state. I do know that Edward B. Collins married Rosa B. Chambers in 1894 (lic. # 20364).

Also, I am searching for any information about Grandma Chambers' daughter Rose Chambers, (or Rosa or Rosana?) .

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Two (half) sisters of Charles, married brothers of Mary Mason. Lucy Davis married Andrew and Nancy Davis married Anderson Mason in 1854 or 64 in Miami County. Charles H. obit mentions his nephew James Davis, who was a barber and accomplished musician. James also eventually moved to Iowa and was a barber in Henry County beore moving away.

I believe this Davis family is related to the Davis families in Dayton, Montgomery Co. Ohio in 1840, 50s & 60s. Am also trying to establish a connection to James Davis. The first AA born at Marietta in 1780s. These DAVIS families were almost exclusively barbers. Would love to correspond with anyone working on this family.

His parents were Jesse Frey born in PA and Mary Kauffman b. 29 Nov. 1841 in PA. I know they were around the Bradford/Covington area. In the old Kauffman family Bible I have a receipt for a donation to 'pay off the debt on the CP (Not sure of the 'P') Church made out to Mrs. Mary Kauffman. Since my Mary Kauffman would have been Mrs. Mary Frey, I wonder if it was her mother. The receipt was executed in Covington, OH on June 12 1886 and signed by D. C. Shellaberger, Secty.

I am fairly certain the Frey family was Brethren. I don't know about the Kauffman family.

The only other info I have is from them to present.
DC Frey married Mary Catherine Inman
their dau Esther Frey married Joseph Elva Overholser
their dau Margaret June Overholser married George Reed

I was referred to you by Denise Bond at [email protected] as possibly being able to help me, I have visited your site many times in the past and didn't make the connection to STEWART.

I am looking for information on a STEWART, Ann who married my gg grandfather BURKE, Uriah b. about 1822 in Ohio, and married Ann STEWART on 26 Oct 1843 according to marriage records in Troy Township. BURKE, Uriah is listed in the 1850 Miami County, Ohio Census with no ANN, but three daughters, Elizabeth C. b abt. 1844; Sarah H b. abt 1846 and Marth P. b. abt 1848. I am unable to locate him after that, any information you could offer would be greatly appreciated. I think you web site is excellant, as I visited it 6 months or so ago and it didn't have much, but I have since downloaded all the files and searched those as well as the searchable databases, finding information that I have already confirmed thru reviewing other microfilm records where I have found many Stewarts but am unable to make any connections.

Thanks again for your help an excellant web site

Researching the CROZIER surname in Miami County. In 1840 Brilina CROZIER married Robert WILEY in Miami County. I am looking for her birth information and her parents' names. According to the "History of Miami County, Ohio" (1982) there was a schoolteacher in Piqua in 1818 named John CROZIER. I wonder if he could be Brilina's father. Does anyone know this family?
