Seeking information on John MUNK (b. ca. 1819 in Germany, d. 15 June 1863 at battle of Winchester, VA), his ancestors and descendents. Seek same for his wife: he married Elizabeth SHORTS (b. ca. 1812 in PA, d. 1896 in Shelby Co., OH) on 1 July 1852 in Miami Co., OH. Elizabeth's maiden name was WERTZ. I believe that she 1st married John SHORTS in Montgomery Co., OH, 1839. John and Elizabeth lived in Miami Co. and had one child: Jacob (b. 1854). Elizabeth moved to Shelby Co., OH with Jacob shortly after the death of John.

11 Dec 1997. Will exchange info on the BRIGHT family of Lost Creek Twp., Miami Co., who also lived in Champaign and Clark counties. John, Henry and David, all sons of John Bright Sr., first appear in Lost Creek in 1830. A third brother, Stephen (17! 94-1859), had children who lived there, including Adam BRIGHT, who died in Casstown in 1911. Related local surnames include POTTER, PETERMAN, DAVIS, MERRITT and possibly DEATON and SIMONS.
