GILMORE is a native of Ohio, born in the town of Smithfield, Jefferson county, that state. His parents, John and Elizabeth, were both natives of Maryland. In 1869 he moyed to Bridgeport, Ohio. Some five years after his removal to Bridgeport, he entered the grocery business, and still occupies the stand where he commenced trading. The business, urged on by his thrift and foresight, has steadily increased, year by year, until at the present time he ranks among the leading grocers of Bridgeport. Mr. Gilmore is a member of Belmont lodge, K. of P., of Bridgeport. Politically, he is a "liberal" democrat.
