HEMMELGARN posted by Cathy Stefiuk on Friday, August 9, 1996

I am in need of information on where I may get a birth record of Charles HEMMELGARN, son of Bernard and Gertrude HEMMELGARN. My info states he was born in Mercer County about 1877-78. I was directed to Celina for the county seat, but nothing was found. I need a new direction. (Scharpsburg, Ohio, and Cranberry Twp. were mentioned as other places his siblings were born, but nothing more specific for Charles.) Any ideas? I'm at a dead end! I know it's out there, but where??

BEAUCHAMP, CENCEBAUGH, LYONS, MILLER, ODELL, SCHELL, STAFFORD posted by Jane Boyer on Sunday, August 18, 1996

Looking for info on George Washington MILLER b abt 1840 that married Sarah Colista BEAUCHAMP b 1841 in Mercer Co., OH. I've been led to think that George wasn't born in Mercer Co., but I've not been able to find him anywhere else. George and Colista are both buried in Montezuma, Mercer Co. They had children (that I know of): John Odell b 1863 in Montezuma-he married Angelina Jeaneta STAFFORD; Richard; Minnie-she married John SCHELL; Margaret-she married Preston(?) LYONS; Olive-she married James CENCEBAUGH. There may have been 2 more sons and 1 more daughter. Does anyone know of an ODELL family? I thought maybe John got that name from a grandmother or something like that. Appreciate any help.

COURTNEY, DELLINGER posted by Bob Woltz on Thursday, September 5, 1996

I am trying to find the ancestors of Thomas and Mary Courtney DELLINGER. In 1860, they were living in Mercer County, OH, and were ages 72 and 66 respectively. I don't find them in the 1870 census, and I suspect that Thomas has died. A death record for Thomas should prove very helpful. We are planning a trip to Lincoln County, NC, next month. According to the 1860 census, Thomas and Mary were born in NC. If we could find if we are headed in the right direction before we leave, it would be helpful!

CESSNA, CISNEY, MCVICKER, MERRICKS, SMITH posted by Matt Quinn on Saturday, September 21, 1996

Descended from an Edward MERRICKS (c1797-?) and Martha M SMITH (c1800-1844) who moved to Mercer Co., OH, from Danville, VA, in 1840. Martha M. (SMITH) MERRICKS is burried at the Hussey Cemetery. Am not sure when or where Edward MERRICKS died. Any information on descendants or ancestors appreciated. Their daughter Matilda Ann MERRICKS (1830-1915) married Stephen McVICKER (1827-1900)in 1849 in Mercer Co. Am curious if other McVICKERs settled in Mercer Co. as well. I do not know when or where Stephen's father William McVICKER (178x-?) died. For Stephen's mother Sarah A. CESSNA [CISNEY] (1786-1844), I have a death date, but no location.

ALLSPAW, ALSPACH, ALSPAUGH posted by David Allspaw on Sunday, September 29, 1996

I am looking for any/all information on the ALLSPAW family. I am just getting started on trying to gather information, so I really need all possible leads. My family name began as ALSPACH when ancesters immigrated from Amsterdam, changed to ALSPAUGH some time around the Civil War, and later anglicized to ALLSPAW, possibly in southern Indiana, the Bloomington - Bedford area. It is possible that some relatives moved to Virginia or North Carolina at some time, uncertain when. MOST are believed to have been in the Van Wert - Mercer County area and in Adams County, Indiana. All leads will be VERY much appreciated! Thank you.
