Family records show that Lester B. ARCHER married Lucinda EDWARDS in Medina County, OH Apr. 30, 1853. At least two of the couple's children, including son Clarence Marselles ARCHER (a twin), were born in Medina CO. on April 16, 1864. Medina Co. seems the best place to look for more complete information about Lucinda's parents and Clarence's twin. If you have local access to records, your help would be appreciated.

My gggg grandfather moved to Medina Co around 1823. His name was Jeremiah Northrup. I believe his brother lived in Medina Co as well, and his name was Joseph. Jeremiah was born 1779 in CT and died in Medina CO, in 1836. He is buried in a small cemetery known as the Northrup cemetery. Is anyone else researching this family? Does anyone know what happened to Jeremiah's wife Roxana--she is not buried with him. Also, any info on his first wife--Elizabeth Pierce? Thanks.

Surnames: CONANT, GRANT, MAGOON, MCGOON

Date posted: Wednesday, March 25, 1998

Hello- I'm doing some genealogy work that pertains to my GGGGranndfather Thomas Magoon. Below is some of the info I have on him and his wife/wives (?)

By the way, I often find Magoon and McGoon used interchangeably for Magoons in the mid-west. I also find Magoun and Magoon mixed up in New England.

There's a book entitled Women of the Western Reserve. I don't have a publisher or a year, but it covers the settlers of the Northeast corner of Ohio. Thomas Magoon is listed there twice.

Under Patty Conant, it has, "Mrs. Patty Conant, came (to the Western Reserve) in 1819 from New York to Summit Co., OH. Married Thomas McGoon. Died in Hinckley, Medina, OH."

Under Patty Grant, it has, "Mrs. Patty Grant, came in 1825 from New York to Hinckley, Medina, OH. Married Thomas McGoon. Died in Putnam Co., OH."

The big question is, did Thomas Magoon have two wives named Patty, or are these two the same woman? Also ,was he the second husband of these women?

Also, there's a Thomas Magoon in Amherst, Lorain, OH in the 1830 Census.

One final note that might help in the research, I have a name and birth date for Thomas Magoon and Pattie Conant's son (I do not know of additional children by this marriage), who was born in Ohio on August 26, 1841. His name was Henry H. Magoon.

Thank-you,
Sincerely,
Chris Andrews

Surnames: CLIFFORD, FENN, HANCHETT, HOPPER, MCINTYRE, WAIT
Researcher: Jadean Hopper
Email: [email protected]
Date posted: Thursday, March 26, 1998

My name is Jadean HOPPER and I am researching my husband Jerry's MCINTYRE lineage. Here is what I have so far.

There were two brothers, Uzel Barker and Marcus MCINTYRE. They were born in New York. Where in New York is not known. The parents of these two men are not known yet either. Evidently Uzel and Marcus moved to Medina County, Ohio but when is not known. It also isn't known if they came to Medina Co. as children with their parents or if they came as adults. It needs to be noted here that it hasn't been proven yet that Marcus was a brother to Uzel. A lady doing some look ups for me gave this data. Further study needs to be done.

Marcus MCINTYRE married Sara FENN on the 2 February 1856 in Medina Co. Ohio. Nothing further is known yet. I just found this information recently so I haven't had a chance to see if I can trace Marcus in census for that area.

Uzel Barker MCINTYRE, (my husband's direct line), was born ca 1812 in New York. He married Martha WAIT on the 3 October 1830 in Medina Co. Hinckley, Ohio. There were eight children born Uzel Barker Jr., Ella, Lewis/Luman(direct line), Estell/Stella, Marsden, Elbridge, Mahlon D. and Emeline. (These names were obtained from obituary for Uzel B. Sr.)

Martha WAIT was born ca August 1815. Nothing is known about her parents/siblings etc. Martha died 31 Dec. 1885. Buried in Maple Hill Cem. Hinckley, Ohio. According to obituary for Uzel B. Jr. some of those in attendance from out of town were a Hubert and Willis WAIT of Oberlin. Wonder how related?

Lewis/Luman MCINTYRE b. January 1853 in Medina Co. Ohio married M. Jennie HANCHETT on the 2 Nov. 1876 in Hinckley. They became the parents of three children Martha Jeanette "Nettie", Arthur H., & Lillian "Lillie". Lewis/Luman removed his young family to Wichita, Kansas where he became a rancher. A man by the name of Hargnet Frank CLIFFORD, from Ligonier, Pa. went out west and applied for a ranch hand job on the MCINTYRE ranch. Frank fell in love with Nettie and married her and took her back to Ligonier, Pa. They then moved to Morrow Co. Ohio where they raised a family. Lewis died 16 Dec. 1916 in Wichita, Kansas and was buried in Highland Cem. there. Jennie died 11 Sept. 1906 and was buried in Highland Cem.

I would like to correspond with anyone who knows anything about the above mentioned people. I am at a stand still with Uzel and Marcus's parents etc. Would love to find out more about the MCINTYREs. Also would like to correspond with anyone with WAIT ancestry. I can be contacted at [email protected]

Thank you and Happy Hunting Everyone
