As a way to rebuild or restore the ticket booth at
the Monroe County Fair ground, we are selling commemorative bricks. Each brick
can have up to 3 lines of script or names and will be place around the ticket
booth as a permanent reminder of those who helped with the important work.
A tax deductible contribution of $100 would be a great
blessing to the work. We will spend it on material and do the labor free. Please
consider this a reasonable service and help finish the work that has been
started. Greater or smaller amounts are also greatly appreciated.
In 2005, the Monroe County Historical Society and the Fair
Board have joined forces to move the ticket booth back away from SR 26 and put
it on a new concrete 20 x 20 foundation. A new floor has been constructed and
some new siding and trim are already in place. Total cost to date has been
$2600 and all materials are paid. The funds came from Citizens National Bank,
Dennis Miller Const. and contributions given at the Know Show for maps sold. In
addition, Clarence Reich has made the 1st individual contribution.
Thank you for your contributions. True Value Hardware will furnish all material
at their cost. This will save a lot of money.
Estimated cost for the total project is $15,000. This will
include a much needed new roof and overhang as well as new wood in many other
places. At the present time we plan to use slate from an old house to keep the
roof as near original as possible.
Can you help us? Will you help us do the work or pay the
material costs? If you will, please see Bob Indermuhle at the Historical
Society building or contact the MCHS or Fair Board as soon as possible. Our
address is MCHS P.O. Box 538 Home Ave. Woodsfield, Oh 43793. Our phone is 740
472 1933.
