Milk Can
The
10-gallon milk can was a standard container for storing, cooling, and
transporting milk. The large mushroom
shaped lid was removed and the milk strainer
inserted into the can for straining and filling. The early milk cans were made of steel and galvanized for
rust-protection. Later cans were made
of stainless steel.
