The Hay Field

Before the day of the hay-bailer this was the only option for making and storing hay.  The hay was cut and air-dried.  It was raked into convenient piles that was then hand-forked onto a hay-wagon for delivery to the barn where it would be stored and used as winter feed for livestock.
