Matthew (may have been called Martin) SHARKEY came to Youngstown via Canada about 1880, and became a citizen (we think) in October 1886. Born in Dublin, Ireland, uncertain as to date of death or birth.

Lawrence SHARKEY, b 1859, d 1911, m in 1882 to Elizabeth Sara MAHER SHARKEY. He was b in Canada, came to USA about 1880. No info on where in Canada he was born and lived. Family legend is that he was named after the St. Lawrence River. Owned a saloon on South Ave. (Irish of course)

Interested in exchanging info on the BUSCH (BUSH) family who immigrated to Mahoning Co from Wuerttenberg, (Hemmingen/ Leonsburg) Germany around 1818. Two cousins named Johnannes (John) BUSCH and a younger brother (of one of them) named Gotlieb came at the same time. John BUSCH, Sr. married first, Mary Baker and had six children: Lewis, Jacob, Doratha, Sarah, Samuel, an an unamed infant. Married Mary A. HOFFMAN after first wife's death. They had one daughter, ELiza Jane. The other John BUSCH, married Mary A. HOELICK. Their children: Elizabeth, Burkhardt P., Fred K., Ellen, Mary and Doratha. Gotlieb BUSCH, younger brother to one of the John's, married Christina MUENKLE and they had seven children: Leonard, Caroline, Mary, Daniel, David W., Robert and Jane. This family settled in Green Twp, Canfield, OH and are mentioned in the book "Genealogical and Family History of Eastern Ohio by Summers 1903" and "The Wuerttemberg Emigration Index" film #37956, page 29.

Edward SCHMECK and his wife Hannah (MOSER) SCHMECK lived in Ohio from 1836 to 1846. They lived in Columbiana Co in 1840. Edward's brother, William H. SCHMECK/SCHMICK m Rhoda BROOKHART ca 1837. They lived in Canfield, Mahoning Co in 1850, 1860 and 1870. Angeline SCHMICK m Gideon RUPERT in Columbiana Co on 5 Mar 1846. How was she connected with these two families? Who married them and where? Where and when were William and Rhoda married? What German Lutheran or Reformed churches might these brothers have attended? What are the possible cemeteries they might have used?

Looking for info on Mirancy (Nancy) NESBITT and Adam FRANKFORT or Frankforth/Frankforther. They were married in Mahoning Co, possibly in Poland or Brooklyn. They are shown in 1880 census of Boardman Twp. He served in the Civil War in Company E, Poland, OH. They moved to Iowa in 1881. I don't have either Mirancy or Adam's parents or siblings. Their children are: John Nathaniel FRANKFORTH, Mary Katurah "Kitty" FRANKFORTH, Edward B. FRANKFORTH and Nora FRANKFORTH (twins), Birchard Hayes FRANKFORTH and Arthur D. FRANKFORTH.

The WIRTs were among the earliest families locate in the Mahoning Valley. Peter WIRT, named after his father, a soldier in the Revolutionary War was born in Carlisle, PA in 1793. He came to Youngstown in the early 1800's. He married Margaret ETTABURN of West Middlesex, PA in 1824. Looking for more info.

James W., Henry (Harry), and Geo Edw MORGAN and mother Phoebe MARSTON came to USA in 1862 and settled in Youngstown area. Father also named Henry and there is no record that he came. They came from Manchester, England. Have birth certificate for Geo Edw. Cannot find them on census records for Manchester in 1851 and will be checking 1861. Any chance that this family originated in Wales as did other MORGANS in Mahoning?

Is anyone working on the MAHAR/MAHER family? John and Mary MAHER went to Youngstown, Mahoning Co in 1892. John and Mary were Irish; but married and lived in Scotland. Their children Patrick, Susan, John, Timothy, Mark, James, Thomas, and Bessie were born in Scotland; and Catherine was born in Youngstown (1894). Bessie MAHAR married Raymond Robert CALER in Youngstown in 1918.
