WILSON

I have an obit and am trying to find information about a soldier, James WILSON. I can find only one record that says he enlisted 10 Aug 1862 and discharged 10 Aug 1863, but this obit says he also had service in the navy. His wife and children are unidentified yet. The Sesquicentennial for the Civil War in 2011 and we are developing histories of all of our soldiers and those who are buried here. He was in the 103 Ohio Infantry. I searched until I found that Lorain County had the records of the 103 Ohio Infantry. ( Obituray image link here. See page 5 of this link.)

Looking to connect with fellow researchers of the surname Crozier, especially Richard Elmo and Mary Crozier. Richard's dad, John W. (Jack) Crozier (wife = Mahala Johnston Crozier) is brother to my ggf William Kelly Crozier. Jack lived 1854-1922 in Bellaire, Ohio.

BRIGGS

Trying to locate any information on the Rowland A. Briggs family. Wife: Ruth Alexander BRIGGS, children: Alfred Orlando (A.O.) Briggs (son), Martha (Mattie) Briggs (daughter), Marion M. Briggs (daughter). According to the 1860 Census they lived in Lorain, and Mr. Briggs was a shoe/boot maker. Alfred Orlando served in 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Martha (Mattie) Briggs married Thomas Officer Chesnut in Wellington, Lorain County Ohio after the Civil War. Our family has copies of their wedding picture and a few letters that Mattie sent to Thomas during the Civil War. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

APAI, MOCSNY

I am interested in information about my grandfather, Gustave Apai. Gustave came to this country through Ellis Island in 1907, but I do not know when he came to Elyria. Gustave married my grandmother, Gezela Mocsny in July of 1914. Gustave was a member of the Magyar Reformed Church on West River St. Together he and Gezela had two children, Gustav Richard Apai and Robert George Apai. I would like to know more about this family and the Hungarian community in which they lived. Census records indicate that Gustave was a steel roller and at one time worked for Columbia Steel. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Pliny Jackson married Sarah Rowland, daughter of Joel Rowland and Lucy Wood. Sarah Rowland was born 1807 in Mass. Sarah and Pliny Jackson resided many years in Penfield, Lorain Co, Ohio. They were married 4 Feb 1829, Ogdensburg, St Lawrence Co, NY. Sarah Rowland Jackson died 1885 and is buried in the Jackson Family Cemetery. I would like to obtain a death record for her as I need to verify that her parents were Joel Rowland and Lucy Wood. I would like to correspond with Sarah Rowland Jackson descendants to get a clearer picture of their life in Penfield, Lorain Co, Ohio.

It is my wish to find my German Ancestors whereabouts in Germany. My GG-Grandfather Francois Joseph HERMANN was born 12 March 1812 in Alsace-Lorraine. He came to America in 1829. All trails in Ohio lead to dead ends. He died 1 Nov 1889.

PIKE, STICKNEY

I am researching the PIKE family--Moses PIKE from NH b. 1756 who married Lucy STICKNEY b. 1765. Moses died in Camden in the early 1800s. They had children: Ann; James; Harod; Stephen; John perhaps Phebe. James served in War of 1812 and died in Henrietta in 1821. Ann married Lenard CLARK. Harod married Eliza TURNER. Phebe married Truman HOLCOMB. Any info on this family will be greatly appreciated.

I am searching for information on my ancestors Leonard Johnson and his wife Chloe Cutler Johnson, specifically I would love to know who Chloe Cutler's parents were. Leonard and Chloe were married in Lorain County on 3 Feb 1825. Chloe was born 13 June 1809 in New York (not confirmed). Chloe died 1 Sept 1853 in Lorain County. Leonard was born in 1798 in CT (not confirmed). Leonard died in 1873 in Lorain County. Leonard and Chloe Johnson are buried at Middle Ridge Cemetery.
