Lorain County was created in 1824 from parts of HuronCuyahoga  and   Medina  Counties.

Elyria is our county seat and Wellington Village is the home of our county fair. The photo above is Lorain Harbor Lighthouse located at the mouth of the Black River.

Wellington Town Hall  c. 1885 still stands today and houses the Wellington Police and the Village's government offices. The steeple to the right is part of Wellington United Methodist Church and has been repaired. The new steeple is up on the church as seen on the photo below.
