Dave has been working on sorting out the early SMITHs in Knox county. In doing so, they have been in contact with many BROWN researchers.

Extraction of all names from THE OHIO REGISTER 1812-1813 - They purchased the films from the Ohio Historical Society, as Dave's family is descended from Samuel Hoy Smith, owner of that paper. By clicking on the name above you can go to a page that lists all of the names that they extracted.

Researching the SCHISKA & SHOULTS surnames in Knox County. I am a Kenyon grad, and my maternal line all came from the Knox County area. My mother had been our family genealogist, and had taken my paternal ancestry back to the late 1700s when the Schiskas emigrated to America (she even has the original letters of passage). Unfortunately, my mother passed away on June 27 leaving a huge amount of information on the Schiskas Shoults side but very little completed work. I was wondering if it would be possible to have the Shoults name added to your Knox County site so those with information may be able to offer it more readily. I know there is some exciting history to be learned. My grandfather, for instance, was Joseph F. Shoults, a deputy sheriff in Mt. Vernon under Paul Lynde's father Hoy Linde. My great-great grandfather was Samson Shoults, an "Indian trader" who owned the land upon which they built the covered bridge near the girl scout camp in Martinsburg. I am sure people would have information to offer to assist me in my new endeavor of genealogical mapping.
