ANTHONY, SPARKS
I am looking for the whereabouts of David ANTHONY b. about 1820, married to Eliza SPARKS 5 Jul 1840 in Licking County, OH. The family appears on the 1850 census for Clay Twp, Knox County and the 1860 census for Butler Twp. I am unable to locate them for the 1870 census and thereafter. The family includes John (c.1842), William H. (10 Dec 1843), James (c.1848), Isabelle (c.1849), Eliza (c.1850), Stephen (c.1853), Virginia (c.1856), Mary? (c.1859).

William H. ANTHONY was in Company K of the 65th Regiment of Ohio foot volunteers and stated that he was born in Martinsburg, OH. He received a medical discharge in Nov 1862 and returned to Martinsburg. By February 1864 he was in Shelbyville, IL where he re-enlisted for service with the Illinois Volunteers. He later went to Wisconsin and Nebraska but I have not been able to locate the rest of his family. Does anyone have information regarding David ANTHONY and Eliza (SPARKS) ANTHONY and family after 1860.

I'm seeking information on my SMITH line that settled in Wayne TWP Knox Co.,prior to 1830. They came from Sunbury,Northumberland Co.,Pennsylvania. My 4th greatgrandfather George W. SMITH born November 23,1822 was one of the children residing in this family. I have been informed by a Morrow Co. genealogist, who having seen the 1830 Wayne, Knox Co., census index, that the only head of household on the index was a Solomon SMITH. Does anyone have this genealogy? It is my guess, since their are no other SMITH's listed, that Solomon SMITH must be the father of George. I have had trouble trying to find someone that does research in Knox Co.

Maggie,

Could you check census records for Knox Co. 1820-1860 for LAKE family-Nicholas and Sarah. They were married in 1816 in OH and proceeded to have, we think!, nine children: Eliza, William, Charles, Perry, Lucinda, Martha, Sarah, Abigail, and Rebecca. I believe that Eliza was born in 1826 and William in 1840, the others I don't know. Eliza was married circa 1848 to Robert Zarley, and I would think they would be listed in the 1850 census also. It is my understanding the only heads of household were listed in 1830 (and perhaps other year also) but it would still be of help to know that Nicholas was listed as that would be proof he and his family were in residence there.

I think I've gone over the 50 word limit but one more thing: I am trying to find out who Eliza's parents were as there is some thought that they were Ira and Adaline Lake, of Wayne Co. NY. We have found no confirming evidence one way or the other. Thank you.

Jane Huston and John Stevenson's son, John Wesley Stevenson, b. 1816, mar. Mary Ann Wilson. A cousin to her grandfather moved to Licking Co. Moved from Belford Co., PA to Levering, Knox Co., OH. I have a book tittled "Levering Family History and Genealogy" by Col. John Levering and published in 1898 by Levering Historical Assoc. Does anyone have the information contained in it (974 pgs.) on computer yet? Has there been an update? Is anyone interested in the family history?! I have it on loan from my great-aunt and will be typing it into Family Tree Format using 3.02. The book is falling apart and I am going to see if it can be rebound but I cannot loan it out. However, I would be happy to share the information with other family members.

I am searching for a Druper family in early Knox County. I have a record that an Adeline Druper married Eberhart Buck circa 1830. However, Druper is a relatively uncommon name and I have not seen any other Drupers mentioned in early Knox Co. It is possible that her last name was Draper, and THEY were in northeastern Knox Co.
