Date posted: Wednesday, January 6, 1999

I am looking for information about my CARSON line. Related lines are EWERS, PATTERSON, JOHNSON, JAMES, DISNEY, and maybe YOUNG.

Alexander CARSON m. Elizabeth DISNEY June 6, 1833 in Knox Co. Their son, William Theodore CARSON, was b. January 21, 1835. Where was he born--Knox Co.? Other children from an 1850 Morrow Co. census were: Amelia, James, Martha, George, and Lovina. There is an Alexander CARSON on the census index in 1840 in Milford Twp., Knox Co. and in 1860 in S. Bloomfield Twp., Morrow Co. I think this family ended up in Morrow County when it was created. I think Alexander CARSON d. Nov. 13, 1872 and is buried at Hedding M.E. Cemetery, S. Bloomfield Twp. in Morrow Co. George A. is also buried there. When did Elizabeth die? Where is she buried? Who are Alexander's parents/ancestors? Where were they born? Elizabeth's father was William I., whose father was James, whose father was Richard, whose father was William. But where were they b. and where did they live and die?

William CARSON m. Rebecca Jane (Jennie?) PATTERSON April 26, 1865 in Morrow Co. They had two children--Charles Herbert (Hobart?) b. Sept. 19, 1866 and Aura Evalena b. Nov. 5, 1872. Were there any other children? When did William and Jane (Jennie?) die? Where are they buried? An IGI lists Charles and Aura as b. in Knox County but I haven't confirmed that. I have not been able to find where William and Jane are buried in Knox Co. either--Mt. Vernon cemeteries?? Also William was listed as Theodore in the 1850 census.

Jane's parents are Ebenezer PATTERSON and Mary B. HYATT. Their family, I think, is also listed in the 1850 Morrow Co., (Chester Twp.) census. Other children are: Sarah N. and Theodore. Looking for information on Ebenezer and Mary's parents/ancestors. Was Jane b. in Knox Co., maybe before Morrow Co. was created? Jane was listed as Rebecca J. in the 1850 census.

Charles CARSON m. Lily Blanche EWERS Dec. 28, 1895. I have fairly complete information on their children which I think were all b. in Richland Co. Several of their children moved to Morrow Co., but then are buried in Knox Co. Also have information on lines which went to Oregon, Nebraska, and Wyoming. I have fairly complete descendant information for this family.

Aura CARSON may have married a YOUNG. She may have had two children: Margaret and Carson. I have no records on this line.

Jonathan James EWERS m. Ellen B. JOHNSON Jan. 24, 1871 in Knox Co. Their daughter, Lily Blanch m. Charles CARSON above. I have quite a bit of ancestor information on these two lines. Looking for descendant information, especially for the JOHNSON lines. Lydia JAMES was Jonathan's mother. Looking for her ancestors.

I am willing to share any of the information I have.

9 Apr 1846 to Isaac D. HYATT in Knox Co.

Lydia STROUSE (b. OH 30 May 1827, d. Tiverton, Coshocton
Co, OH 28 Apr 1917) md. James HUNTER 1 Jul 1849 in
Knox Co.

Is Rosanna, wife of Peter, really Rosina LAMBERT, daughter of John Michael and Rosina (STRAUSS) LAMBERT of Bucks Co, PA? Rosanna/Rosina was born in 1787, married Peter STRAUSS and then they disappeared.

Can anybody shed any light on this family?

George Henry FOOTE b. 1846 and Lydia PURDY d. 1890, his wife m. 1875. Think I am a direct decendent of Lydia. Remember from the Purdy reunions in the 1950's Footes were always there. They had a mill in Fredricktown, if anyone has any info to this family, would love to correspond and share info.

John HANES or HAINES lived in Knox county in 1837. We don't know his parents names but we believe John was born in PA. John owned 161 acres in Knox county. Certificate 6248 entitling John to the land was signed by President Martin Van Buren.

I'm searching for any descendants of John. He moved his family to Allen County, Ohio about 1841. I believe John was a brother of my Gr,gr. grandfather Isaac HAINES.

Looking for information concerning the Rittenhouse's. They lived in Knox County around 1820 - 1850. Because of County border changes between 1840 and 1850, some Rittenhouse's may have lived in Franklin Twp., Morrow County. My GGG Grandfather Henry Rittenhouse was born in Knox County around 1830. They moved to Licking County between 1840 and 1850. I think Henry's father was a John Rittenhouse, this is only speculation. I do know George E. Rittenhouse lived in Franklin Twp., Knox County (currently Morrow County). George acording to his will owned real estate. George died around 1848. I suspect George and Henry are brothers. I also copied a document signed by George E. and William Rittenhouse concerning a court matter in Knox County. If anyone can help, I sure appreciate it.

Thanks. Mike Rittenhouse, Thornville, Ohio (Licking County)

I just learned about this list today so subscribed. My cousins and I have searched for the parents of our Gr. Grandfather Merriman Hall or otherwise known as Merriman Boramon Stevenson (M.B.S.) Hall, born 27 Dec. 1819 in Knox County, Ohio. Married Mary Ann Ross abt. 1843 in Knox County, Ohio. I have this info from sheets copied from the pages of ledgers in Knox County where they applied for a marriage license and were married. I have info. on Mary Ann Ross's parents but nothing on Merriman's parents. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it very much. I was told by one cousin that we came from the Maryland Hall family. She seemed so sure. Is it possible that the county lines changed enough to get info in wrong place. You see I know nothing about Geography either. I know where I live the counties have changed a lot in the past 100 years or so. Merriman and Mary Ann had two living children. When Mary Ann died, he moved with his children to Iowa in 1860 and married Alcinda Hedges. They had two living children born in Iowa; one was my Grandfather Thomas Robert Hall and the other William Hall. They eventually with their dad Merriman and children went to Kansas where my Grandfather married Hannah Ellen Yeager at the Yeager Homestead in Rose Hill, Kansas, Butler County. In 1891 my Grandparents, along with his parents went to Okla. I.T. Stroud, Lincoln County where Grandpa had one of the first general stores. Merriman's obit told me a lot but no mention of his parents. We have searched the LDS center in Salt Lake City with nothing yet. Any help would be appreciated or just ideas. If you connect with any of this, please write to me at [email protected]
