I'm searching for anyone researching the ARBUCKLE family who were living in Knox Co. Clay twp. Ohio, 1830. William Arbuckle b. 1811 in Penn. married my widowed gr.gr.gr. grandmother Nancy (Hill) Smith, 31 Mar. 1831 in Knox Co. Nancy Hill Smith was also b. in Penn. Nancy's son, Israel Smith, then married May 1831, Rebecca Arbuckle, b. 1808 in Penn. (sister to William.) Israel & Rebecca (Arbuckle) Smith, my gr.gr.grandparents.

At the time that Nathaniel & Nancy (Hill) Smith bought land in the U.S. Military District, 1815, there was also a Samuel and a John Arbuckle in Knox Co. 1813-1814. I feel one of these two were the father of William & Rebecca Arbuckle.

Hope someone can help me in my search of the Arbucke's. I also have a search for some of the Nathaniel Smith children, but will do that at a later date.

I am searching for ancestor information for William CARSON. An IGI entry lists him as William Theodore and family info lists him as W. T. and William T. The same IGI entry lists his wife as Rebecca Jane Patterson. Family records list her as Jane or Jenny R. Patterson. This IGI places William and Jane in Knox Co., OH for Charles and Aura's births in 1866 and 1872 respectively. I do not know where William or Jane were born. Two family sources disagree on William's parents names. They were either Alexander Carson + Elizabeth Disney or Theodore Carson + Rebecca. William also was in the Civil War--Union side, possibly a colonel in the OH 10th regiment. I haven't confirmed that information yet.

My info that I have on this line follows:

Descendants of William T. Carson

1 William T. Carson b. January 21, 1835 - Unknown
+Jane R. Patterson
....... 2 Charles Herbert Carson 1866 - 1949
b. Sept. 19, 1866 Mt. Vernon, Knox Co., OH
....... +Blanche Ewers 1876 - 1945

Priscilla/Permelia ??? married 1790's in Maryland to John PERKINS, who died 1824. Priscilla was in Knox co. at that time. In 1825 she married Samuel ROBERTS and they bought a farm in Holmes Co. (western part) and Sam died. Priscilla married Thomas CARTER, supposed to have been a Rev. War soldier. Thomas is buried in Chalfant Cemetery near Dresden/Adams Mills Area but in Coshocton Co. Would love to find out what happened to Priscilla after Thomas died early 1850's (at over 100 years of age).
Someone suggested she died and was buried with her second husband Sam ROBERTS, but I haven't been able to find a grave....
Priscilla's son Thomas PERKINS was a Methodist Minister and the church located next to the Chalfant Cemetery is Chalfant Methodist Church.
I haven't been able to locate the early Chalfant Church records either...

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Seeking to share information on the family of John MOODY, father of Miller and Israel MOODY, and son of William MOODY and Mary STADDEN. John MOODY was born about 1795 in PA, died in Richland county, OH, on 11 Sept 1838 and is believed to have married twice in Knox county; first to Experience MILLER on 2 Mar 1820 and second to Mira HUSSA (b. abt. 1799; d. 23 July 1837 in Richland county, OH) on 25 Sept 1828. John MOODY's gravestone indicates he fought in the War of 1812 but there are too many who served with that name for me to identify his unit in military records. I have John's probate records confirming the two sons but he apparently outlived both wives.

I have little information on the wives and would also like to determine what unit John served in. Experience MILLER would probably be related to an Eli MILLER who is the Administrator of John's estate. I have yet to find any reference to the HUSSA name. HUSSA appears to me to be an accurate transcription of the marriage record but I have seen it published as HESS as well.

Thanks for any help!

Bob Moody

I am searching for the parents of Andrew James WATSON, born 30 May 1842 in OH, married 3 May 1866, in Hancock Co, OH to Eliza Ellen HALL. The census states that Andrew's father was John WATSON, born roughly 1791 in Ireland. We think Andrew's mother was Sarah WARE (WEIR, WEAR) from PA.

We need to know more about John WATSON and his line and would like to verify that Sarah was a WARE (WEIR, WEAR).

The 1850 census shows John WATSON from Ireland and his wife Sarah from PA had my ggranfather, Andrew James WATSON.

We believe that Sarah WARE was born roughly 1800 in Indiana Co, PA and that she married John WATSON 24 Mar 1831 in OH. We also believe that Sarah's parents were Hugh WEIR, born roughly Jan 1775 in Enniskillen, Fermanagh, Ireland, married roughly 1793 to Rebecca HANSON. Hugh WEIR died 17 Nov 1817 in Hillsboro, Highland Co, OH. Rebecca HANSON died 3 Mar 1843 in Greenfield, Highland Co, OH.

Hi Everyone,

I spent last week researching in Knox and Licking Counties. It was a very successful week, but as usual, I'm now left with even more questions. But that's what makes this so much fun!

I 've been looking for my father's half sisters and had always been told they never married. I don't think that my father ever knew them as they were 18 and 20 years older than him. Anyways, i decided to look in the marriage records at the courthouse, since the last time i found them was in the 1910 census. Turns out they both got married in October of 1917! I haven't checked the census for 1920 yet, but here's the information in case anyone recognizes them.

Lydia May COSNER b Aug. 6, 1898 to James L. Cosner and Mary Butcher of Mt. Vernon Lydia married Homer L. WATKINS on October 24, 1917 in Mt. Vernon. Probably lived in Fredericktown for at least a while.

Emma Helen COSNER b. February 18, 1900 to James L. Cosner and Mary Butcher. Emma married Edward L. WHITE on October 12, 1917. Edward was listed as being a barber in West Carlisle, Ohio.

James and Mary were divorced in 1902 and Mary remarried in 1906 to Robert Miller, a barber in Fredericktown.

Does anyone have any information on this WATKINS or WHITE family? I'd love to find their children. Assuming they had any. I'll be checking the 1920 census this weekend.

Thanks,

Sandy
