Researcher: Marge Counterman

Date posted: Saturday, August 16, 1997

From the early History records of Columbiana County, Ohio, we know that Christian COUNTERMAN and his wife Rachel WILSON lived and farmed there from 1810 to the 1830's. The know children were Jacob, Dossy, Margaret and David. Jacob COUNTERMAN was married probably twice and one of his wives name was Zelinda HARPER. Dossy was married to a man named KIDWELL and went to live in Wayne County, Ohio. Margaret COUNTERMAN maarried Evan GAUSE. David COUNTERMAN was also married twice and one of his wives name was Anna GANT. David, Margaret and Jacob moved with their families to the western part of Ohio and settled in Mercer County in in mid 1830's. Some of the Christian Counterman descendants lived in and married in Knox County, Ohio and Wayne County, Ohio and Ashland County, Ohio. Some names woven into this family from those counties are: LONG, WELLS, FAUST, SMITH & HARPER. I am lacking very many dates of this family such as marriage and birth dates. Could Columbiana County have anything in the way of old school or church records that could be helpful? I have a lot of data to share with anyone who is at all interested.

All 5,800 individuals are on a Internet Tree at Family Tree Maker ONLINE and a 116 page index in alphabetical order list each individual with birth date, birth place, and name of SPOUSE. Also, I have many Genealogical Lineage reports ONLINE. All my sources are linked to my main page: "Marble's Genealogy Link Page" which has recently been featured in Eastman's Genealogy Online Newsletter: the site URL is: http://www.angelfire.com/fl/MarblePlace/index.html.
