Surnames: MCCADDONS, PATTERSON
Researcher: Damen K. McCaddon

Date posted: Sunday, November 3, 1996

I am hoping to find any information whatsoever concerning MCCADDONS in your area from approximately 1827, when I believe the family moved west from western Pennsylvania, until 1850, when my line moved to Iowa City, Iowa. The only informatioin I have on this period in our history is taken from copies of obituaries and some letters between family members which I found in a family bible. I am interested in a John McCaddon who died 8/ June/ 1845, in Newark,Ohio. I believe he had a son also named John who married a Susannah PATTERSON in the old town of Williamsport Penn. which I am told is now Monongahela, in 1818. The family moved to Ohio several years thereafter. I am not certain of how many or the names of the children involved. They may have moved initially to Mt. Vernon and soon thereafter to a farm in Licking county Ohio. I believe the eldest John McCaddon did die in Newark and may be burried in a Presbyterian or Catholic cemetery. Certain members of the family converted at this time. There are a number of us trying to lock this decendency down. I am currently in contact with some other McCaddons who also have their roots back to the Zanesville area at this same time and it would be great if we can find the common link. Sincerly, Damen K. McCaddon
