I am looking for any information on David J. LEWIS and his wife Mary MORGAN. David was born in 1811 in S. Wales and died 6/18/1898 in Oak Hill, OH. Mary was born in S. Wales in 1823 and died 5/1/1893 in Oak Hill, OH. They were married on 3/11/1846 in Oak Hill, OH. by the Rev. Robert Williams. He may be buried at a place called Horeb Cemetary. He may have been a member of the Horeb Church and was a farmer. His farm may be still standing it may be at 4 mile road in Jefferson Township in Jackson County. They had eight children. These would be my great great grandparents. Thank you for your time and effort.

William RUSSELL married Lydia Jane OILER Sept 10, 1858 in Jackson County, OH. Soon after, they left for Gallia County and eventually ended up in Mason County, WV. Does anyone have any info at all on these two folks? Anyone have an 1850 Jackson County census? Would LOVE to find Lydia Jane in her parents' household in 1850! William RUSSELL would be a little harder because he came from Ireland in 1849 at age 14 and had no parents here in America, so I have no idea where he was before this marriage. I have reason to believe that a generation of my ancestors may have migrated to Jackson Co., OH. from Greenbrier Co. WV. It is believed that three brothers, John, James, and William WALTON, sons of John and Ann WALTON of Greenbrier Co., WV, came out to Ohio from WV, probably in the early 1820's. One of them may be the father of my Elisha WALTON of Jackson Co., WV, b. 1825. I have found reference in the 1820 Jackson Co., OH census to James and William WALTON. There is also reference to an 1834 Land Patent made to a James and Lewis WALTON in Jackson Co., OH. I am looking for any information that may link these Waltons to my known ancestors in Jackson Co., WV.

He is supposed to be buried in a WHALEY Cemetary in Jackson County. Does anyone know where or if the WHALEY Cemetary still exists? Abner had at least one child -- Luke WHALEY. He was born in 1815 in Jackson County, married a Salinda WEESE on August 29, 1841 in Liberty Township, Jackson County, and died in 1850.

This is what I found during research on a "NEFF" tree. I don't know how accurate it is but I would like to find some information to verify it. Eli & Obedience (CARTER) NEFF m. 12/3/1835, George W. & Mary (CRABTREE) NEFF m. unk, Thomas & Myrtel (VITITOE) NEFF m. unk, Edgar & Clarabell (BELCHER) NEFF m. unk. What I have researched indicates Eli had 9 children. George had 11 children & Thomas had 8 children, and Edgar and Clarabell NEFF are my mother and father. Does anyone have anything to confirm or dispute this?

Owned a dry-goods store at 171 Broadway (not sure of address but believe that is correct) and also owned a saloon. I am after information on how he came to Jackson. Am searching for any info regarding William DAVIS and his wife, Maria PUTT. They came to Zanesville from Bedford Co., PA. with their family around 1830. Their son, Henry born 1816 in Pa., was a pilot on a steamer for 3 years and then he moved to Jackson County where in 8/1839 he married Mary Ann TILER. It is believed his neighbors on the 1840 Jackson Co. census were in fact brothers of his: David DAVIS, James DAVIS, and Walter (poss. Wallace) DAVIS. I have not been able to locate William and Maria on any Jackson co. census so they may not have moved w/Henry to Jackson. In 1844 Henry moved his family (wife 4 children) to Hancock Co., Ill. It is believed James moved to the same county. What happended David and Walter is unknown. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

They had 14 or 15 children, one of whom is Lawrence. Several people in the family have said that this George Lenox CROOKHAM was a figure of some note in Jackson Co and might have been involved with the underground railroad. I am looking for any historic references that might corroborate any of this. I will be glad to go to Jackson, but I am looking for some direction before doing so.
