Catherine Josephine (Shrenk)Hillis was born 15 JAN 1841 in Bucyrus, Crawford Co., Ohio to John and Jane (Faloon) Shrenk. After her father John died 16 FEB 1857 in Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH of typhoid fever at age 45 and her mother, Jane died about a year later on 9 JAN 1858 of consumption in Bucyrus, OH, Josephine and her sister, Elizabeth became teachers and lived with their Aunt Sarah (FALOON) MCKIBBON in Reed twp., Seneca Co., Ohio.
On 14 NOV 1861 in Seneca Co., Ohio, C. Josephine SHRENK married Joseph Finley HILLIS and they moved to their farm in Norwich twp., Huron Co., Ohio. Josephine continued substitute teaching after marriage at area schools in Huron County including Four Points School. Josephine died 11 MAR 1927 in Norwich twp., Huron Co., OH. Josephine and Finley Hillis are buried in the Bethel Church of God Cemetary in Huron Co., OH.
