Mr. and Mrs. FRANK CLINE who have been spending some time with their father, F.H. LONG and family, returned last Thursday to their home in Newark.
Mrs. MARTHA SNYDER spent Wednesday in Mansfield.
Mrs. ALTON SNYDER has been on the sick list for a few days at the home of her sister, JESSIE VAN WAGNER.
O.E. BEVIER was laid up for a few days with sciatic rheumatism.

HARRY DEWITT who has been sick with heart trouble, the past few weeks, has improved so he was able to resume his work in the J.D. FATE factory.
BURT KISER is laid up with a broken bone just above the ankle, Saturday, while hauling corn fodder, while standing to drive was thrown from the wagon owing to some inequality of road, was thrown on a stony place, with foot twisted under him.

Rev. ARCH BROWN, pastor of the M.E. church in Delphi, will spend his Thanksgiving with his parents in Wayne County.
The husking bee at Mrs. ANDRUS DEWITT's, when all her corn and fodder was put in the crib and barn last Wednesday, elicited her heartfelt thanks.
Miss HELEN SIMMONS, a trained nurse of Bowling Green, O., and lady friend, were Thanksgiving guests of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. WM. SIMMONS.
G.M. KING and wife will leave for the southland Nov. 30th. We will give this esteemed couple's address later, so that when any of you shall want them you will know just where to lay hands on them.
CHARLES DAVIS of Plymouth is installing a new furnace in the church at Delphi this week. The large audience at the church last Sunday afternon found what comfort they could around one stove.
The social and bazaar held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.P. BOARDMAN last Firday evening, was one of our best, and considering the very severe storm, the over 40 present shows the great interest that is taken in the social uplift in this vicinity. The treasury of the society was increased by $15.00.
We are expecting a rare treat this (Friday) evening at the library. Miss LUCILE BLACKMORE, a student at Otterbein University, will spend her Thanksgiving with her parents, and the young people of this musical family will give a good account to their many frineds at the literary in quartette, etc. All invited. We want the hall packed to greet these young people.

Friends and neighbors to the number of eighty six gathered at the home of Mr. & Mrs. W.G. HEAD, Friday evening, to honor their daughter and husband, Mr. & Mrs. BRANCH PERRY, with a miscellaneous shower. They were the recipients of many beautiful and useful articles, consisting of cut glass, china, linen and silverware, with which to furnish their new home near North Fairfield. The crowd was treated to candyand at a late hour all departed for their homes feeling the evening as well spent.

J.W. PALMER is building an addition to his place of business by adding a convenient room for dressing poultry for the Cleveland market.
Miss EMMA FOX and Mr. & Mrs. HYLES and little son, of Shelby, were callers Sunday at the home of their aunt, Miss JENNIE DUBOIS, who has been quite sick for the past week.
Last week, Thursday, Mrs. ADAM WEAVER, living on the Greenwich Road, entertained the W.M. Society of New Haven. 25 ladies were present and a fine program of exercises was enjoyed by all.

WM. LONG returned home Friday evening after a three weeks' visit with his daughters in Detroit and Toledo.
Mr. and Mrs. ROY MCCONNELL and little daughter, were over Sunday guests at the home of their uncle, G.W. SMITH.
Miss EMMA FOX of Plymouth, with her sister, Mrs. McKEAN, of Auburn, spent Tuesday with their aunt, Mrs. JENNIE DUBOIS.
S.F. REED and family were called to Clyde last Thursday to attend the funeral of their nephew, WILL HESS. Mrs. J. MILLS and Mrs. F.H. LONG also attended the funeral.
C.H. KNIGHT, who was quite badly hurt by a fall Friday last, from the steps of the Palmer store, is getting along nicely. He suffered much, as the broken hip of nearly a year ago is quite badly injured.

Mrs. RHEBA SILLIMAN and daughter, who have been visiting relatives in Spencer, Mich., arrived home during the latter part of last week.
KATHERINE HEAD and NELLIE LOVELAND, two of New Haven's most popular young ladies attended church in Delphi last Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
About 150 guests were at the social held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. G.A. HASSINGER last Friday evening. The committee report a net receipt of
$19.50. The inclement weather was no drawback.
MELVIN HOWARD, Delphi's Master Mason and popular candidate for Township Trustee, is building the steps to the entrance of the M.E. church in
Delphi. The large vote rolled up for him will show his popularity.
MAUDE CATLIN of North Tonawanda, N.Y., is now an important part of the home of her brother, the writer. She graduated from the New Washington school back in the 80's, taught the Good Will school, went east, worked as demonstrator for different manufacturing plants of Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Now will give farming her attention. The writer is happy, we will do our best in helping the church bear the different burdens of this community.

Mrs. AMELIA HOUGH has gone to Chicago Jct. to spend some weeks at the homes of her daughters, Mrs. A.H. HOOSE and Mrs. G.W. BURWELL.
Miss R.J. DAWSON and Mrs. J.W. PALMER spent Monday in North Fairfield with their mother, Mrs. FRANK BECK, who is in poor health and was taken
Tuesday to a hospital in Lorain for treatment.
Last week Thursday Miss ELLA SNYDER entertained 16 of her old schoolmates in honor of her birthday, also that of Mrs. BERTHA HARTMAN. A fine chicken dinner was served. This is an annual affair with Mrs. HARTMAN and Miss SNYDER.

Little Miss DOROTHY DOUD, who was spending her vacation in New London with relatives, was called home Monday by the death of her grandfather LAYER.
Mrs. SUSAN MILLS accompanied by her brother, JAMES HUSTON, to his home in Sandusky Thursday, where she will spend an indefinite length of time in that city.
Mrs. G.L. RANG and daughter, Miss GERALDINE, are spending this week with Huron County relatives, being the guests Wednesday night at the home of her cousin, Mrs. W.J. SKINNER.
The Boy Scouts of Chicago Jct. broke camp Wednesday of this week, having for the past two weeks been encamped on the banks of the Huron River on the ED. KISER farm, and hiked back to their headquarters at Chicago Junction.
FREDERICK LAYER, after a long and painful illness, passed away Saturday afternoon. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. E.L. AKERS of Chicago Junction, interment being made in Maplegrove Cemetery.

FORD TRUXELL has purchased the CARSON property in Delphi, and will make his future home in our city.
Mr. and Mrs. E.M. PATTERSON and daughter of Plymouth, were among the guests in the SIBBETT home last week.
MARVELL DAVIS and brothers, CLAUDE and JAMES DELLARVER of Tiro, visited their uncle, L.B. TRUXELL and wife, last Sunday.
Miss MABEL FROST of Plymouth, formerly a popular clerk in the M.I. MAYNARD store, was a recent guest of the MAYNARDS.
J.W. PETTIT is running a new Altman Taylor threshing outfit. J.W. will get all of the grain from the straw if anyone does.
Miss BOUGHTON of Bowling Green, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. WM. SIMMONS, for a few months, left for her home a week ago.
Mrs. T.B. BLACK and son, ROSS, were in Mansfield Tuesday consulting an eye specialist. ROSS will take treatment for the removal of ulcers from his eye.
E.D. HINCKLEY and wife, of Cleveland, and his mother, EMILINE HINCKLEY, of North Fairfield, were Monday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.P. BOARDMAN, a week ago.
MYRA McMULLEN, who has been a student for the past two years in the Plymouth High School, left for Marion last Monday, where she will don the white cap and apron preparatory to the training for a hospital nurse.

Sunday evening the M.E. prayer meeting was held at the home of Miss REBECCA CHEESMAN for the pleasure of her sister, Mrs. BRIDGELAND.
The remains of HENRY TRIMMER, long years a resident of New Haven Township, but for several years residing at Chicago Junction, was
brought here Tuesday afternoon for interment in the family lot in the old cemetery.

HARRY YOUNG of Norwalk, was a visitor of his parents, on the G.M. KING farm last Sunday.
Miss RUTH COGAN of Canton, Ohio, is being entertained by her friend, LUCILLE BLACKMORE, at present.
J.H. GLEASON entertained as visitors, his cousins, ALBERT HACKET of Napoleon, O., and FRED HACKET of New York City, last week.
A.D. MAYNARD, the pioneer blacksmith of Boughtonville, sold his outfit to HIGGINS & ODEL. They took possession last Monday morning a week ago.
The social at J.W. PETTIT's home last Thursday evening was a success in every respect. The sociability was beyond estimate and the profits were $25.00.
B.A. BOARDMAN and son, CECIL, attended a Poland China hog sale in Chatfield, Crawford Co., last week, and bought a brood sow with several young "gilts".
W.G. BLACKMORE and family, S.E. GLEASON and family, and HARRY SIBBETT with his family attended an entertainment in Fitchville, last Friday eve. The BLACKMORE-FESSENDEN quartette furnished the music.
SAM TRAUGER is in Ripley with his threshing machine. It looks as if he was going to stay here. He did all of our threshing last fall. He does not blow his whistle and make much noise, but he is mostly on hand and keeps everything coming along.
W.J. WILKINSON and wife, JANE SCOBY, 83, of Shiloh, and the writer, constituted an auto party to Geneva, Ohio, 146 miles from Delphi, two weeks ago. The farmers all through are having the same experience we are having in getting off their harvest between the pleasant showers.
Last Saturday, H.H. SIBBETT, one of Ripley's most widely and favorably known business men, transferred the ownership of his grain elevator and adjoining buildings and lands to WALTER W. FIRESTONE, of Wayne County, thus closing a continuous service of over 16 years, as a faithful, accommodating and devoted grain merchant in Boughtonville. We hope Mr. SIBBETT may be permitted to live and enjoy to the fullest the accumulations of his painstaking service and thrift. Mr. FIRESTONE is a young man of 34 years, and married, is of splendid physique, his face bears the stamp of a gentleman. We bespeak for him an abundant trace
and a prosperous life.

Again the grim reaper has thrust his arm into Ripley, and removed another of her most splendid men, ANDRESS DEWITT, beloved by all, a friend to everybody, self-sacrificing and helpful in any way he could be to those in need. Pleasant, affable, and genial, a Christian gentleman, was suddenly stricken in the midst of his friends at the home of his brother-in-law, a Mr. Kime, in North Fairfield, July 4, 1915. This transition was so sudden that we hardly think it possible that he is
gone. Funeral services were held at the house Thursday morning, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Hughes.

and Mrs. JOHN RUPLEY.
Mrs. HOWARD WURTZ with JESSE, youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. FRANK RUTH, have been spending a few days with relatives in Mansfield, attending Ringling Bros. show Tuesday.
Mr. & Mrs. W.J. SKINNER, and their cousin, J.C. WOODWORTH, had a delightful automobile trip Sunday via New London, Norwalk, Sandusky, and other points in Huron and Erie counties.
Sunday evening at the request and pleasure of FREDERICK LAYER, the M.E. prayer meeting was held at his home. He has for some months been in ill health, and when well never missed church services.

FREDERICK LAYER has for several days been in a serious condition and does not rally as his friends hoped he would.

WM. LONG, who has been seriously ill with kidney trouble, but seemed to be improving, was suddenly taken worse Monday.
Among the number that took in the Sun Bros. Show at Mansfied Thursday of last week were CLIFF KNIGHT, DONALD and SYDNEY LONG, and W.E. HOUGH.
The girls of the second and third grades are engaged in the commendable contest of making flower gardens. Among the number are IDA RUTH, FERN PALMER, DOROTHY DOUD and HELEN MILLS. The fad is growing.

O.O. GARRETT while running an emery wheel was hit in the eye by a small chip of steel, bruising the inside of the eyelid, causing him much
suffering.
WM. LONG has for the past ten days been seriously ill with kidney trouble. His daughters from Detroit and a son and daughter from Toledo
came to spend a few days. He is slowly improving at this time.

The funeral of EDWIN WOODWORTH was held from the home last Thursday afternoon. Many relatives from Hillsdale, Mich., Cleveland, Plymouth
and Norwalk were in attendance, and interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery.

SIMON MILLER, who for the past year has been on the GUNSAULLUS farm, has moved to the M.C. DICK place, which he recently purchased.

Mr. and Mrs. EDWARD LUTEMAN, of Clyde, who were called to Fairfield by the death of their mother, Mrs. HARRINGTON, spent Thursday night and
Friday with their cousin, Mrs. W.A. GARRETT.
Mr. and Mrs. W.A. GARRETT were called to North Fairfield last Thursday to attend the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. WATERSON HARRINGTON. Mrs.
HARRY DEWITT, formerly a neighbor of Mrs. H., accompanied them.

FLORENCE DEWITT, who has been spending a few weeks with her sister, in Crestline, arrived home last week.
Miss HELEN SIMMONS in writing to her friends here from Florida reports her trip through the south as very enjoyable and pleasant.
CHAS. ALBERTS, who has been living back in the woods on his farm making plenty of money, has extended his domain by purchasing the W.H.
McLAUGHLIN farm, where he will reside in the future.
Mrs. MINNIE McMULLEN, who underwent an operation at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland recently, found the operation was not successful and went
back to the hospital last Sunday for another trial.
E.E. LEONHARDT sold his farm to D.J. STUCKEY and moved on a farm near New Washington last Tuesday. E.E. and his esteemed wife made many
friends in Ripley, and we all regret his moving from our midst.
ALBERT REIBER, the blind broom manufacturer, would be glad to supply all the wants of broom users at very reasonable prices, and would appreciate
the patronage very much. He is at home on the W.B. ROSS farm.
DAVIS TRUXELL, aged 96, is very sick at the home of his son-in-law in Ripley. The physicians and those at his bedside have no hopes of his
recovery. His daughter, Mrs. DELARVER, is assisting in the care of her father.
E.C. KING and wife, Mr. and Mrs. BARTOW, Mrs. L.B. TRUXELL, Mrs. MELVIN HOWARD, EMMA HA--ING, Mrs. LWEIS LUTEMAN, HENRY LUTEMAN, and the writer, were the Ripleyans in attendance at the Carson funeral in plymouth last Saturday.

Mrs. H.M. PALMER who has been quite sick for the past ten days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.A. LAYER, was brought to her own home
Wednesday afternoon of this week.
ROSS LONG, who was employed with the Mazda Electric Company of Shelby, spent a few hours Sunday with his father, while en route for Cleveland,
to which city the company has been moving their plant. Mrs. LONG will spend a few weeks with her parents in Plymouth.
Saturday a jolly lot of Tiro young folks made a sleighing party that was entertained at the home of Mr. & Mrs. F.H. LONG, with their daughter,
MILDRED, who is a teacher in the Tiro schools. Mrs. LONG served a fine warm supper and the time was most pleasantly spent in music and games.

days visit at the home of MERRIT TUTTLE and family.
Mrs. H.M. PALMER went to Mansfield last week Friday afternoon to visit her daughter, Mrs. W.A. LAVER, and during the night was taken suddenly
ill. Mr. PALMER was called by telephone Saturday morning. He went up to Mansfield but found Mrs. PALMER in such a condition that she could
not be removed home for several days.
Miss CLARA SMITH, daughter of Mrs. MAGGIE SMITH, who for several weeks was sick with typhoid fever, died Tuesday of last week. Funeral was
held Friday morning from the M.E. Church, burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her father, R.J. SMITH, preceded her several years ago, dying
of the same disease. She was a general favorite in this community. The Steuben choir had charge of the music.

J.F. YOUNG of Los Angeles, California, a fast line passenger conductor running between Chicago and Los Angeles, was a recent guest of his
sister, Mrs. FANNIE BARKER.
EARL RIDDLE, wife and daughter, S.N. DUFFY and wife, of Richmond Township, and J.E. DAWSON and wife of Chicago Junction, were in
attendance at the L.D. CRUM funeral, last Wednesday.
C.H. SILLIMAN was caught in a wreck in New Haven about four weeks ago and while having a bad bruise on the fleshy part of the hip, in which an
incision was made for removing clotted blood, he is improving nicely, is in good spirits and in splendid mood for a good visit with all who call.
There was no singing at the funeral of L.D. CRUM. While we have always been moved by the sentiment brought forth in the sacred songs on such
occasions, yet the profuseness of the splendid passages of scripture read and touching prayer and inspiring sermon and talk was probably
satisfying to all.

C.H. SILLIMAN was operated on last Saturday for a pus gathring in his injured hip.
Mrs. MINNIE McMULLEN and daughter, TERESSE, were visitors of her brothers in Cleveland last week.
FRED CASE and wife, who have been visiting relatives in this vicinity have gone to visit a brother in Canton, Ohio.
LEE DUFFY, wife and child, of New Haven, were Sunday afternoon callers at the home of his brother, W.E. and wife.
R.R. JENKINS of Chicago Junction delivered a temperance address in the Delphi church last Sunday eve. The attendance was satisfactory.
Mrs. RIBER of Celeryville was a caller in Delphi last Sunday. Mrs. R. has 7 sons and no doubt W.B. ROSS anticipated our neighborhood's need of
help. Thanks to W.B.
AARON BLACK who is assisting GEO. BRINSON husk corn, used Tuesday as a holiday and visited his friends in Delphi. We are always glad to sit
down and have a chat with him.
LIZZIE CARSON of Mansfield, visited her mother from Wednesday until Sunday. Her mother expects to leave in the near future to spend the
winter with her daughter, AGNES, in Baltimore.
At the temperance meeting last Sunday eve at the M.E. church, W.G. BLACKMORE and J.J. UNDERWOOD were appointed a committee on meetings.
G.A. HASSINGER on fnance and literature.
After a married life of 25 years last Thursday night, Oct. 15, our hustling neighbor, B.A. BOARDMAN and wife, were almost caught napping by
their children, relatives and friends to the number of almost 60, who rushed in on them to tell them that they had dropped in as a surprise to
help them celebrate their silver wedding anniversary. The evening was spent in social chat, games, feasting and giving of remembrances, and at
a late hour bid the genial bride and groom good luck and many more anniversaries.
L.D. CRUM was operated on recently for the removal of pus from his lungs and at present is a great sufferer and the probabilities are that he may
not be long with us. There is one thing of which we are fully cognizant whether his time here be long or short, his life has been a splendid
contribution to our community. He has been closely connected with all the departments of the church. He stood for many years at the head of
the Sunday Schools of the township, as S.S. superintendent, most always a teacher served several years as teacher in the public schools. He was
not selfish to his own church and community but he and his devoted wife were always inspiring in the missionary society. We have found him
conservative, generous and kind. He believes in Paul to the Galatians, "If a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual restore such
as one in the spirit of meekness, consider thyself, lest thou also be tempted." The writer has always found him a trusted advisor and
counselor. The young people always loved him and trusted him. The fact is L.D. CRUM's path through life is marked with deeds of kindness.
Truth is the inspiration of his life, and by kindness he is showing forth its matchless worth. Our hope and prayer is that God may spare
him to earth, not as a sufferer, but as a healed worker. We need such men.

Friday of last week, JOHN, son of FRANK RUTH, fell from a bicycle, and broke his arm in two places. Dr. HOLTZ reduced the fractures. JOHN
will carry the arm in a sling for some time.

DAVID TRUXELL, aged 95, visited Dr. KESTER in Shiloh to have an eruption examined that is appearing near the same where he had a cancer removed

stand the test.
RICHARD DAWSON of New Haven was at the home of the writer viewing his young Jersey cows one day this week. Dick knows good cattle and often

after bargains in the various stocks.
The Young Peoples' Class of the Delphi Sunday School, taught by Miss G.M. KING, was entertained this week Wednesday by Miss DEWITT. Games,

E.A. STOTTS of Plymouth, keeps up his daily auto service from Plymouth to Ripley siding, where he delivers men to work on the pike, as well as

FLOYD ANDERSON and family of Plymouth, and NOEL RUCKMAN, agent of the Big Four Railroad at Shiloh, and family, were last Sunday guests at the
pleasant home of DAN and TOM RUCKMAN and wife on the county line.
Mesdames A.E. DEWITT and G.A. HASSINGER were touring the great state of Ohio from north to south last week. They are not running for office or
campaigning for anyone else but visited a sister in Gallipolis, visited the State Fair, called on others at Bucyrus and greeted friends in
Plymouth Saturday evening.
MELVIN HOWARD, one of Ripley's most useful and much wanted men, a mechanic in many lines of work, met with a painful and serious accident
while painting on the house of M.E. REEVES last week Thursday. The ladder on which he was standing collapsed, throwing him to the ground,
breaking his collar bone and injuring his leg, which will lay him up for several weeks. Dr. SAUNDERS set the bone.

Supervisors Are Working For School Opening
Huron County school matters have been taken care of by Supt. O.C. MINNICH and the county board of educaation so that the schools may be
opened on schedule time this fall. The district supervisors have been named and they will be ready to begin work. There are seven districts

The Ripley court was in session last Friday in a case of attachment for $21, entitled C.D. NELSON vs. ED. MOSHIER. Judgment for the plaintiff.
The MILLER family reunion will be held in Maring's Grove Aug. 29. This family has a large list of relatives and friends that enjoy their
hospitality.
The HOUSE-YOUNG family reunion was held last Wednesday in Sandusky. H.W. BARKER and wife, LEE BARKER, wife and children, were in attendance.
The MARLOW - DONALDSON - MATTHEWS family reunion will be held in South Park, Mansfield, Saturday, Aug. 29. Several members of the family
reside in Ripley.
Material is now being put upon the grounds for the new sheds to be built at the Central school. The sheds will be 26x80 feet, to house wagons
and teams when necessary.
Quarterly meeting services were held at the Delphi church last Saturday, Rev. GALLIMORE presiding. Luncheon was served by the ladies of the
church. Much business was transacted. R.L. BARKER will attend the district steward's meeting.
Ripley township school is now in readiness for a splendid year's work. A new school hosue with a complete and modern equipment. FRANK BLACK,

recipients of many nice and useful presents for the household and home comforts.
Mrs. E.C. HELLER, after a long illness, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.C. SKINNER, Monday morning. Funeral was held from the
M.E. Church, Wednesday, interment being made in Maple Grove Cemetery, by the side of her husband. The site of this burial ground was formerly
her childhood play ground.

Nicholas Welch, for many years a resident of Ripley Twp., died Tuesday morning at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Bret Truxell, in Grafton,
where he had been making his home for several months past. His funeral was held last week Thursday morning. He was 95 years of age.
