Buried in Beery Cemetery is Vicenio Ariette, an Italian immigrant who came with 185
other immigrants to work on the Ohio Fuel pipeline now owned by Columbia Gas along
with Substation in South Bloomingville.
This man was murdered and the assailant was never found or brought to light either from
the prejudice of those times or from lack of evidence. Only God knows the answer now
after so many years have passed.
These Italian immigrants were not even called by name but assigned numbers.
Vincenio Ariette was just a number then, number # 98.
After Teresa Wine Stevens found this newspaper article about his not only unfortunate
death and assigned number we could not let his life nor name remain silent any longer.
This is the article of his death.
