"Venerable Attorney Ends Brilliant Career at Bar"
Samuel T. Crawford, Cincinnati's Oldest Practicing Lawyer, Dies at His Home in East Walnut Hills.

Members of the bar and many thousand others will be grieved to learn of the death of Samuel T. Crawford, who passed away in his eighty-seventh year yesterday afternoon at his home, 2419 Salutaris avenue, East Walnut Hills.

Mr. Crawford was the oldest member of the bar in this city having parcticed in the Federal Courts for fifty-four years.  He was one of the most familiar figure around the Courthouse and everybody who came in contact with him remained an admirer. He was connected with many large litagations, the Ban will case being one of the notable he was called upon to handle.

He was a man of strong character. His name was always mentioned with respect and his genial character drew friends to him. As a citizen he was one whose place will be hard to fill.

He was a faithful Republican, being identified with that party since he cast his first vote, although he asked no favors of the party which he so ardently supported.

Being one of the oldest members of the Merchantile Library, he always took a deep interest in the institution.

He was born in the country near Mason, O., and after getting a commercial school education studied law in the office of an attorney who was practicing at that time in Batavia, O. Later he came to this city, where he passed the bar examination.

A widow and four children survive him, two sons, John J. and William L., and two daughters, Lillian and Mary. One brother, John, is still living in Springfield, O. Arrangements for the funeral will be complete with thearrival of the sons from the East.  Interment will be in Spring Grove."
