Obituary of Minnie I. Baker

 "I believe this obituary was from a newspaper in either Bedford, Lawrence Co., In or Seymour, Jackson Co., IN.  It was actually copied into a notebook by my grandmother, which my mother now possess."



Minnie I. Baker, 99,1322 15th St., born April 11, 1865- April 2, 1965 in Hailsham (Sussex) England to John and Sarah Ann Sinnock Hoadley.  1 of 12 children.  Named Minnesota Indiana Hoadley by her parents who left the U.S. for England with no hopes of returning.  Her parents had resided in Cincinnati, Ohio where her father was Captain of a steamer on the Ohio River.  After her parents death she came to Seymour to work in her brother's general store, there she met Charles Louis Baker and married him Oct. 12, 1892.  2 sons Eral(?) L.  and Gilbert survive her, a daughter Rachel died in infancy.  Mr. Baker died suddenly Dec. 21, 1924.  Also 3 grand children survive.  Dr. Robert Baker of Savannah, Ga.,  Gillie Ann Huston of Anderson, Ind. and Don Alan Baker a student at I.U. (That's Indiana University in Bloomington, IN).  2 great-grandchildren.  Member of Presbyterian Church.  Funeral at Elmwood Chapel by Rev. Lawrence Cater.  Burial in Green Hill Cemetery.
