SURNAMES: MCMILLEN, MCMILLIN, HIGLEY, JONES
Ruth Higley was born 1808 in Gallia county, daugher of Elam HIGLEY and Jane MCMILLION (MCMILLIN). I believe this Jane McMillin was the daughter of Edward Tate McMillin and Sarah Reed, born 1787. However, other researchers show this Jane married to Thomas Jones on 24 Nov 1812. I believe this is Jane's SECOND marriage as Gallia County records show "Elim Higley married to Jane McMillion" on 18 June 1806. IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE Jane McMillin of the proper age to be Ruth's mother WAS living in Gallia County in 1808! Is is just COINCIDENCE that Ruth Higley and William Adney were married on 24 May 1822 by J.P. Edward McMillin? This Edward would then be Ruth's Grandfather, if his Daughter Jane is her mother. Well, she must be. Only makes sense. And that's all there is to it!
