I am looking for information on William HOLCOMB B. Nov. 27, 1856 d.1930. Gallia Co. Married Miranda SCURLOCK June 13, 1880. She was b. Aug. 23, 1856, d.Aug. 2, 1922 Gallia Co. Their chilren are noted born in Vinton, Gallia Co., Ohio. They are: Oscar, Roy S., Addie, Charlie D., Grace L., William Harrison Holcomb. The spelling of Miranda's first and last name may not be correct! Some say he came from Pennsylvania and some say Virginia, before it became West Virginia. Help!

I am looking for any information on the Gallia County Coughenours. My relative is a Christian COUGHENOUR (b. 1785 Virginia; d. 1873 Gallia County, Oh). He married a Margaret DICE. Christian's father was Jacob DICE (b. in Pennsylvania). These Coughenour's seem to have come from Pennsylvania and Rockbridge Co., Virginia. Then out of Gallia County, they migrated to Audrain County, Missouri. Does anyone know much about any of these elusive family members of mine? I would like to know where in Europe they immigrated from.

I'm trying to find Elisha's parents. Perhaps John RICHARDSON who married Elizabeth MANRING 1807 in Gallia County? Lewis K. RICHARDSON was born 1828 in Gallia County, and married Sarah LOVE (daughter of Robert LOVE & Rosaline WILLMORE) 1848 in Gallia County. The couple migrated westward about 1850 -- settling permanently in SE Iowa. Any help or information greatly appreciated!

I am looking for the birth of my grandmother, Sadie EVARTS. Records say that she was born 2 Aug 1881 to Henry Alfred EVARTS and Louisa DAVIDSON in Gallia Co. I found a sister Sarah who died, abro. Elmer And another sister mistakenly listed as a boy under her father's name. But cannot find Sadie. I have records of her siblings, all bn in Gallia Co. Louisa was the dau. of Adam DAVIDSON and Amanda BEARD. Also want any available info on Adam DAVIDSON. He md. Amanda BEARD in 1851 and after her death md. Rachel DODRILL. Adam died 6 Sep 1907. Having had a stroke last May, I must now depend on others. But I can use my computer and have had some success with the IGI. I just received a copy of the Jacob WARD Probate filing from August 1862, Gallia Co., OH. Not sure yet exactly when he died. Jacob WARD, (my ggg-grandfather) died in Gallia Co, OH. He was married to Ann (either SMITH... or SISLER?) who later married Jeremiah DENNEY. (She is listed as the wife of Jeremiah DENNEY in the probate forms.) Ann died in Springfield, MO abt 1879 or 1880. The probate filing lists 6 children of Jacob and Ann: -David, b. before 1837 (before Nelson!), -Nelson W., born 20 Nov 1837 in Columbiana Co, OH, died Feb 1929 in Long Beach, CA (was married twice in Meigs County, 1st wife was a woman named Cline married in abt. 1858, 2nd wife was a woman named Emily Jane Hall married in 1865, 3rd wife was Minnie Zoruda Souder married in Gasconade Co, MO), -Joseph, born 8 July 1839 in Columbiana Co, OH (married Martha Beal), -Caleb, born 5 March 1843, died 1897 (my gg-grandfather) (married Nancy Jane SHIVELY on 2 Dec 1863 in Gallia Co, OH) Lived in Springfield and then both died and are buried in Boone Co, AR., -Rebecca, born abt. 1847, -Robert, Born abt, 1849. Nelson, Joseph and Caleb all served together in Company M, 11th PA Cavalry, 108th PA Volunteers, during the Civil War. Then later all 3 lived within 6 blocks of each other in Springfield, MO. They were there for both the 1870 and 1880 censuses. Nelson was a washing machine salesman, Caleb was a hack and then a foreman on the railroad and Joseph was a wagon driver and then policeman in Springfield, MO.

Caleb served with the M Company, 11th Cavalry PA Volunteers in the Civil War. (Company M of 11th Pennsylvania Cavalry actually were mustered in from Columbiana Co, OH) Caleb WARD, Nelson W. WARD and Joseph WARD are all in the 1880 Greene Co, MO Census and also all served in the M Company, 11th Cavalry PA Volunteers in the Civil War. Caleb WARD, Nelson W. WARD and Joseph WARD all 3 mustered into Co. M on 26 August 1861. I believe these 3 men may have been brothers or perhaps cousins. All 3 lived within about 6 blocks of each other in Springfield, MO for the 1880 Census. Nelson W. WARD was born about 1837 in Columbiana Co., OH and was married on 13 September 1865, in Meigs Co, OH to Emily Jane HALL. Nelson W. WARD was a recipient of the Medal of Honor in the Civil War. Joseph was born July 1839 somewhere in PA, raised in Gallia Co, OH, married in Greene Co. MO in 1867 to Martha MEALIS. I believe their parents might have been named Jacob WARD and Annie SMITH. Nancy Jane SHIVELY WARD, b. 4 March 1843. Nancy was the daughter of Balzer SHIVELY. I believe Nancy is from either Gallia Co, Washington Co, or Columbiana Co., there seem to have been a lot of SHIVELYs in those counties, but I am not sure yet in which county she was born.

Margaret COLE is buried alongside of Lewis in the same cemetery 1921 - 1960. Who are the other daughters identified above? Believe them to be either Katie, Lucile, or Bessie. When and where did Carrie die. I also believe Carrie (SWARTZ) to be his second wife. First wife identiifed as ALLIE in 1910 Census. Her maiden name was EBLIN as identified in Bessie's marriage in 1926 in Scioto Co. OH to George E. FEENEY. I am desperately trying to locate the movements of Bessie.
