I'm looking for anyone who may know about Otis WORKMAN. He was born in Crown City around 1890. From the 1910 WV Census his parents were Jiles and Mary Ellen. They had quite a number of other children. Names were Edward, Ida, William, Standard, Lillie, Clarence, Ira and a few more I can't read. At some point he moved to Huntington, WV where he married my grandmother. Is there a birth index for Gallia County for this time period? Any help would be appreciated.

I am searching for someone who is related to the family of Henry H. BOLLES of Gallipolis, Ohio. I believe Henry BOLLES operated an auto painting business during the early 1900's but I also have information that he was in this area as early as 1868. I have found several old letters, Christmas cards, and photos of this family (some over one hundred years old) in the belongings of my deceased grandmother; however, we are no relation. The letters give names of additional family members and I would like to share this with anyone who is a direct descendant of this BOLLES family. The photos are of Henry H. Bolles and others of his auto business.

Also have two questions- Luke MILLER married Eleanor McCoy in Gallia County on June 30,1812. His marriage record states "...was married by advertisement before me." What does that mean? John Miller married Mary Polly McCoy in Gallia County on January 16, 1814. His marriage record states..."solemnized on the 18th of May, Eighteen Hundred and Seven or Six. Why Seven or Six?

I am looking for information on David Lambert born 7 March 1802 Virginia and died 25 Mar 1884 Lawrence County, Ohio. He was in Gallia County before 1820 and appears in the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1870 and 1880 census of Gallia. He was in Kentucky in 1860. He married three times. 1st Mary Magdelena Harper 1829, 2nd Sarah 1840's and third Beth Williams ca 1867. I am searching for his parents. He lived most of his life in Greenfield Twp. He may be the David listed in Springfield in 1820, but I have not seen the original census material. 1820 Greenfield had Philip, Percival, John and William. One of these should be his father.

Charles Henry DANNER was born 25 July 1862 in Gallia County to James Henry DANNER & Nancy (Jenks) DANNER. Charles married Rosa Belle CHILDERS (daughter of Frank CHILDERS) & had several children including a son named Beman DANNER. Since there are numerous BEMANs linked to Gallia County, I am trying to ascertain why Charles chose the BEMAN name for the first name of a child. Charle's father, James H. DANNER, died during the Civil War so it's possible a BEMAN raised him . . . I saw no reference to a BEMAN marrying a DANNER or a JENKS in the years following the war's end in 1865. Can anyone provide information?

He died of illness in U.S. Army Hospital #2 in Nashville, TN in early 1865 & was buried in the Nashville National Military Cemetery, TN.
