Searching for the ancestors/origans of Andrew Jackson THOMAS, aka as A J or Jackson or Jack. According to the census, he was born c1832 somewhere in Ohio. Jan 12 of 1854 he married Elisabeth ANGEL in Gallipolis. Elisabeth was born in Gallia Co c1838. The Angel family seems to have quite a few families in Gallia Co, but I haven't found her exact connection. They had two or three children in Ohio before moving to Illinois, where they had at least five more children. One of the children born in Gallia Co was my great-gm, Martha A. Thomas. I once saw a newspaper excerpt stating that a Jack Thomas was arrested for killing a fellow government boat-man on the docks. Was this MY Jack Thomas? I vaguely remember visiting Gallia County as a child sometime in the 1960's. I believe the Wagner family farm was next to or near the Bob Evans farm. How can I contact the current owners? My interest having no legal implications of course. Also, my Uncle Phil said there is a Wagner Point or Point Wagner in Gallia County, and he claimed it was the highest point in the county. How true are his recollections? Finally, I recall seeing a Wagner Church during our visit to Gallia County, and I was hoping to get an address or more information about the church. I have little information about the family Wood, and a little more information about the family Wagner. My connection to the family Wood is through my paternal grandmother Marie (Wood) Wagner. She was the first female graduate of University of Rio Grande. After graduation she became a school teacher in (I believe) Gallia County. Later she married my grandfather Philip Othel Wagner, and had two sons: (my father) John Joseph Wagner in 1931 and Philip Michael Wagner about 1935. She died about 1985, survived by her sister Hazel. I believe the family Wagner settled in Gallia County in the 1860's or 1870's when my great-great-grandfather John Philip Wagner left the Black Forest area to avoid conscription. John Philip Wagner married Ann Reynolds and had several children, one of which was my great-grandfather. My great-grandfather had several children including my grandfather Philip Othel Wagner (aka P.O.). P.O. married Marie Wood as described above. One of their sons, John Joseph Wagner married Shirley Jean Smith (born 1932 in Columbus) in 1954. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

Am trying to find parents of Joshua Johnson, born 1794 in Kentucky. He was in the War of 1812, survived the Battle of the River Raisin (many were massacred), but was captured and released. He married Ann (Amy?) Hawkins who was born 1796 in Massachusetts. Don't know when or where the marriage took place. He moved to Gallia County, Ohio in 1827-29. Had at least six children that I know of: Smith (born in Virginia--the remaining children were all born in Ohio), Malinda, Malvina, Andrew, William (my great-great grandfather) and Harvey. He died in 1858-59, in Gallia County. Is anyone else out there working on this line? Would love to share information.
