SURNAMES: BOWMAN, BUFFINGTON, HARVEY
Jacob BOWMAN married Mary Ann BUFFINGTON in Gallia County in 1813. I have learned that she was the daughter of Joseph BUFFINGTON and Cloa HARVEY, but nothing much on the origins of Jacob BOWMAN who, according to the census and other sources, was born 19 Aug. 1793 in Maryland. Much research in Maryland (in person) was unsuccessful because Jacob BOWMAN is not an uncommon name there. Have also searched early OH land records and found a Jacob BOWMAN who would have been older and perhaps the father of the one I seek.

SURNAMES: BRAY, CRAWFORD, SHULER
I am hoping to get some clues from Gallia Co researchers about my lost gg-gf William CRAWFORD, who evidently came to Gallia (from VA) in 1823. His daughter Nancy H. CRAWFORD married Harrel BRAY there in that year. The following year William CRAWFORD married Elizabeth SHULER, who I believe was the widow SHULER, nee BRAY. I think all of the above went to (then) Starr Twp, (then) Hocking Co OH (now Brown Twp, Vinton Co), where William CRAWFORD died in or by 1838.
