On Apri1 10, 1883, she was united in marriage to Theophilus Aeschliman. This union was 
blessed with 5 children, 2 sons and 3 daughters: Jemima (Mrs. Aaron Klopfenstein), Mary (Mrs. Henry Richer), Lucinda (Mrs. Samuel Richer), and Enos Aeschliman, all of Wauseon, Ohio, 
and Ben Aeschliman of Archbold, Ohio. Her companion preceded her in death 23 years ago; 
also 1 daughter, Jemima, who passed away about a year ago. She leaves to mourn her 
departure: 4 children, 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children, arid l-great-great-grand-child; 
also 3 sisters: Mrs. Ida Fether, Mrs. Cora Leininger, Mrs. Hulda Lauber, and 1 brother, Mr. Otto Vonier, and many other relatives and friends.

In her younger years she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and united with the
Defenseless Mennonite Church, and later transferred her membership to the, Old Mennonite church of which she was a faithful member until death. She was a patient, kind and loving 
Mother and was interested in the spiritual welfare of her family. 

He leaves a faithful wife and nine children: Mrs. A. M. Burkholder, Wauseon, O.; Lewis Bernath, Elmira, O.; Charles Bernath, Stryker, O.; John Bernath, Tedrow, O.; Mrs. Harvey Nofziger, Elmira, O.; Harry Bernath, Tedrow; Jesse Bernath, Delta, O.; Mrs. Lloyd Leu, Tedrow; -Mrs. Ralph Miller, Elmira; sixty grandchildren; eighty-five great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends 
to mourn his departure.

Jacob Bernath, 89, passed away in his home in Burlington, Saturday, Sept. 16, after a long 
illness. Services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Reformed Mennonite church, Lauber Hill, conducted by Wm. J. Rupp. Interment in church cemetery. Surviving are his wife; five sons: L.E., 
of Elmira, Charles of Stryker; Jesse of Delta; John and Harry of Tedrow; four daughters: Mrs. Andrew Burkholder of Wauseon; Mrs. Ella Nofziger of Elmira; Mrs. L. L. Leu and Mrs. Ralph 
Miller of Archbold; 60 grandchildren; and 85 great-grandchildren-all of whom are living.

Three Victims of Accident  are Perry Nofziger, Alma Grieser and  Eve Burkholder
Funeral of Three Victims of Accident  Held At Same Time and Burial In the Same Cemetery
Probably the1argest number of persons that ever attended a burial in this county assembled at 
the Eckley cemetery Wednesday, April 10th, to inter the bodies of the three young people who were so suddenly snatched from life to death in the crossing accident in Archbold, Sunday evening, April 7th.  The funerals of the three victims of cruel fate were held at the three separate homes of their parents at 10:00 a.m. after which the three corteges met-at the cemetery at one time where the three bodies were viewed by all who wished; before they were laid side by side 
in their final resting places.  The funeral of Perry Nofziger, 28, was held at the home of his mother Mrs. Eli Nofziger, north of Pettisville.  The funeral of Alma Grieser, 22, was held *ot the home of her parents Mr. And Mrs. Simon Grieser north of Archbold.  The funeral of Eve Burkholder, 22, was held at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Burkholder south of Pettisville.
The body of Alma Grieser presented a most pitiful appearance; more especially as the body of promised husband Perry Nofziger lay in a coffin beside her. Instead of a happy wedding the couple were dead and mourned instead of *congratnlated by their friends. Their bodies were placed in adjoining graves to be near each other in eternal repose.

By ministers of the Amish-Mennonite congregations. There are no words to convey the great sympathy which the people of this vicinity feel for the relatives and friends of the departed. The sorrows of the community are small indeed in comparison with the grief of those nearer and dearer to the loved ones that have gone before.

Five in Auto Struck By Fast Passenger Train At Archbold Main Street Crossing, 
Sunday Evening -Two Killed Instantly; One Died Shortly
The dead: 
PERRY NOFZIGER, 28, son of Mrs. Eli Nofziger of Archbold, Instantly killed. Body badly mangled. ALMA GRIESER, 22, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Grieser. Killed instantly. Body torn and broken.   EVE BURKHOLDER, 22, daughter Mr. and Mrs. David Burkholder of Pettisville. Injured  so badly that she was unconscious and died in the office of Dr. I. L. Coy, at 9:40. About an hour after the accident.

The injured:
HARVEY GRIESER, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Grieser, bruises on head and body. Able to 
walk about.   BERTHA BURKHOLDER, 20, DAUGHTER OF Mr. and Mrs. David Burkholder and sister of the dead girl, badly shocked, but with no visible injuries.

At 8:30 Sunday evening five young people were in Perry Nofziger’s Ford. They were going north and had stopped at the N. Y. C. crossing in Archbold to allow an east-bound freight to pass. 
When the freight, had passed they drove across the track, in spite of the warnings of bystanders, as it was past the watch man's hours. They drove upon the other track at just the right time to be struck by the west-bound second section of fast passenger train No.43. The: locomotive struck 
the rear of the auto carrying it about 100 ft., The three were crushed and. killed while the two in 
the front seat escaped death. The passenger train stopped and the crew did, what they could to help. 
The dead and injured were taken to the nearby office of Dr. I. L. Coy, from which place the bodies of the dead were removed and given over to the undertakers.  The cousins had been spending Sunday at the home of their uncle Mr. Peter Burkholder in Archbold They were on their way to 
their homes when the accident *occured.  Upon examination of the auto in which the three in the rear seat met death on the crossing in Archbold, Sunday evening, it is easy to see that the three 
in the rear seat were scooped out of the machine and carried along and crushed by the cylinder heads and wheels of the locomotive while those in the in the *seas were left in the machine because the front of the auto was stopped by the coming in contact with the shanty of the watchman.

Amos Burkholder Killed At Franklin Street Crossing
Unguarded NYC Franklin Street Crossing Scene Of Evening Tragedy;
East-Bound Fast Mail Strikes 
Car In Side; Papers Found

Amos Burkholder, 67, lost his life Tuesday evening, Nov. 25, at 6:58 when his 1941 Dodge, 
driven south on the unguarded Franklin Street crossing was struck broadside by East-bound mail train No.3148.   The car was knocked against a post, with Mr. Burkholder's body still in it.  Mr. 
Otis Hitt, at his' parents' home over a block away, heard the and with his mother drove over to 
the crossing. Mr. Hitt and neighbors who joined him found papers indicating the victim.   At the New York Central depot, operator Carl Unger, noting that the brakes on the mail train were set 
and throwing sparks, ran out. and signaled with a .light; The first indication the depot had of the accident was when Mr. Hitt telephoned Mr. Robert Kramer, R.R. clerk, telling what had happened. Mr. V. I. Manor, local NYC agent, and the train's conductor, reported the accident. The train engineer .was W. B. Long, Toledo, and brakeman was Mr. Christmas. Toledo Members of the train crew said the fireboy had seen the accident, and declared car was hit broadside. The front 
of the engine was damaged but the train was able to move on after waiting at the local station for about one-half hour.  West-bound train No. 73 halted here for about two minutes and then proceeded on toward Chicago. The body was recovered and removed by Grisier's ambulance called by railroad officials.

The deceased, a widower has three surviving children: Maynard, married and living at home; Lavern, Toledo; Wilma, Columbus.  Mr. Burkholder has spent part of his winters in Florida for several years. A retired farmer, he spent his lifetime in this community and was well-known. 

Simon M. Burkholder 
Simon M. Burkholder, son of Daniel and Catherine Burkholder, was born in Henry County, March 22nd, 1874, and passed on, September 8th, 1944. Age: 70 years, 6; months and 13 days.  On April 11th, 1899, he united in marriage to Cordelia Oberly. They shared their lives together better than 45 years.  In 1909 they took Lillian into their home as their own. He lived his entire life in this community. He leaves to mourn: his deeply bereaved. companion, their daughter Lillian; three grandchildren: Joyce of Toledo, Otto Junior who is serving his country for 1½ years, and Gloria Ann at home, and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers and four sisters. His parents, four brothers and one sister preceded him to the Great Beyond.  He was a kind and, loving husband and father.  He was always interested in the welfare of others, serving in different organizations for many years.

Crossing the Bar Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar When I put out to sea. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark!  And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark! In middle life he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour and united with the Central Mennonite Church where he continued fellowship until the end.  On January 8, 1913 he was married to Mary Lantz whom he leaves mourning his departure; also one sister, four octogenarian Aunts, a host of Cousins, Nephews, and Nieces, are in bereavement. His parents and three Brothers preceded him. Only one member of the immediate family, his only Sister (Alma) Mrs. Howard Taylor of Stryker, O., remains. Melvin enjoyed company and during the years of poor health he spent many hours just looking out of the window for someone to come to visit him.

"Sometimes you went away For just a little while, And I could scarcely wait To see again your smile. I listened for your step, My hand was at the door, And what a joy it was To have you back once more.  "One day you said "Goodby," And went to see the King, His beauty to behold And precious sheaves to bring; In eagerness I wait The while I feel my lack. I'm looking hour by hour 
To see you both come back."

Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Grace W; Weber, 59, from the Edgar Funeral Home 
at 2:30 Friday afternoon. Mrs. Weber, a former Wauseon resident, died Monday at her home in Pettisville.  She is survived by her husband Frank Weber, a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Smith, of *Picqua and two sons, Lawrence, a student at Ada and John, at home.

MRS. ZIMMERMAN
Mrs. Mary Zimmerman passed away early Monday morning at her home on Madison street. She suffered a stroke last Wednesday from which she never rallied. She was 79 years old.  Her husband Benjamin Zimmerman preceded her in death in 1919. Mrs. Zimmerman was a faithful member of the Congregational, Church, where she had held membership since coming to Wauseon from Ridgeville Corners, twenty-five years; ago

Five children mourn her departure. They are, Mrs. Minnie Rowe, Ridgeville Corners; Mrs. Bertha Smith, Detroit; Mrs. Byronna Wiseman,. Wauseon; Miss Vera and Miss Merlin Zimmerman at home. There are also five step-children, George Zimmerman, Clarence Zimmerman, Mrs. Oliver Ernst, Mrs. Fred Hoffman, and Mrs. Mary Longaker. 

Friends may call at the Edgar Funeral Home until Thursday noon.
Services will be held at the Congregational Church at 2:30, Thursday afternoon with the Rev. S. L., Beougher officiating. Burial will be in the Lauber Hill Cemetery.

Zimmerman Rites Held
Aged Resident Dies At Home Monday
Mrs. Mary Zimmerman, 79 well known. Wauseon resident, died Monday after a short illness. Funeral servces were conducted on Thursday at the First Congregational church with interment 
at the Lauber Hill cemetery.  Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by five children, Mrs. Floyd Smith of Delta, Mrs. Russel Rowe, of Ridgeville Corners, Mrs. Earl Wiseman. Vera and Merlin Zimmerman, of. Wauseon. Five step- children also survive. Mrs. Mary Longnecker, of South Bend, Ind., Mrs. Fannie Ernst, of Delta, Mrs. Fred Huffman, of Delta and George and Clarence Zimmerman , of Wauseon. Six grandchildren,. 40 step-grandchildren and 69 step great grandchildren survive as well as two brothers, Andrew and John f.

Harold Brehm, 54, Taken By Death 
Funeral rites were held Thursday afternoon from the Lauber Hill church for Harold Brehm, 53, well known Fulton county farmer, ________ died Monday.
Rev. Joseph Byers conducted the services at 2:30 p.m. with interment at the Lauber Hill cemetery. 

She leaves to mourn their loss: her sorrowing companion; four children, 15 grandchildren, one brother, Joseph N. Baer of. Archbold, Ohio, and a host of other near relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law, three infant grandchildren, and .three sisters.  She accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her younger years and united with the Mennonite Church and remained faithful until death.  Mother enjoyed good health until t about a year ago, since then she spent most of the time in bed, bearing her suffering patiently and constantly expressing herself that the "Lord's" Will be done." All members of her immediate 
family live in the local community except one grandson, Victor Coon, who is in the South Pacific.

In her youth she accepted Christ as her SAVOUR and LORD, and became a member of the Mennonite Church, and remained faithful to the end. Her kind and loving disposition was appreciated by all, and especially by children, She bore her affliction with patience, looking to 
the Lord for strength, and greatly enjoyed Scripture reading, Prayer and Singing.

There remain to mourn her departure: two sisters, Mrs. Anna Short and Mrs. Fannie Leichty; 
four stepsons: Daniel A., David W., Noah C., and Amos Burkholder, and one step-daughter, 
Mrs. Noah Kauffman; 39 step-grand-children, 133 step-great-grand-children, 18 step-great-great-grandchildren, many nephews, and nieces and other relatives and friends. 
There preceded her in death, one brother, three sisters, one step-son and three step-daughters. 
The funeral was conducted February 6 from the home of Mrs. Anna Short in charge of Brother 
Roy Sauder. At the Central Mennonite Church in charge of Brothers Walter and Simon Stuckey. Burial in Eckley Cemetery.

God knew that she was suffering, That the hills were hard to climb, So he closed her weary eyelids, And whispered Peace be thine, Away in the beautiful hills of God, By the valley of Peace so fair, Some time, some day, we know not when, We will meet our loved one there.

Bro. Beck accepted Christ as his personal Savior in his younger years and united with the Mennonite Church of Fulton County, Ohio, and was a faithful member of the West Clinton Church unto death. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and a helpful neighbor. He enjoyed good health until about 18 months ago, when it began to fail and he gradually grew weaker, until last Thursday evening at sunset the Lord took him home.

never be forgotten  By the ones who hold you dear."

Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26, 1947, in the Penrod Funeral Home, Wauseon, O., and at 2:30 in the Congregational Church, Rldgevl1le Corners; with burial in the Ridgeville Corners cemetery. Rev. Wilard Thomas, Delta, officiated.

HARRY BURKHOLDER
Harry, 9-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Burkholder, passed away ear1y Thursday morning after four-weeks illness of spinal meningitis. Funeral services were held at Short funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2:00 conducted by Rev. Wm. Rupp, Interment in Archbold cemetery, Surviving are parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts.

Her husband, one son, Lewis E., one daughter, Marjory, and four grandchildren preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss, her five sons, Melvin C., Simon C., Elmer S., Floyd F and Earl V.; five daughters, Mrs. Cora Gearig, Mrs. Emma Beaverson, Mrs. Ida Henry, Mrs. Bertha Quillet and Mrs. Thornetta Leu; thirty-one grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

On February 23rd, 1896, he was united in marriage to Magdalena Rupp and to this union were born , three children: Orrin R., Vincent W., and Valetta M. His devoted wife and children survive him as do six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His passing is the first break in his family circle.  When he was eight years old his father died of injuries in his saw mill. A younger brother, Frederick, died of what the pioneers called cabin fever, when a small boy. His mother died in the W. O. Taylor home in 1904. The last survivor of this family, he was preceded in death 
in 1941 by his older brother, James Morrell, a railroad engineer for 50 years, who passed away in Chicago and was buried in Archbold cemetery. W. O. Taylor, when a lad of eight, moved from Winameg to Archbold with his lately widowed mother and brother James Morrell, to a property at the south edge of Archbold's corporation that was left the little family.  When 17 years of age, he had attended school as long as there were classes for him, and worked in the local stave mill until he had pay of $400 coming him. He then started the first newspaper in Archbold, the Herald, one of the pioneer newspapers of this district. He operated it seven years, then in the years of 1893 
to 1904 was connected with publicity and promotion of the various World's Fairs and Expositions.  Returning to Archbold in 1905 he founded the Buckeye and continued as its active editor and publisher until his death. His family was associated with him in the business constantly, and he lived to see his publication merit many national and state awards for excellence and editorial content, and his editorials were reprinted throughout the nation.

He contributed much to the civic development and improvement of his beloved Archbold and community, believed in encouraging those who went ahead, and had great confidence in the 
future of his community.  If he had an outstanding characteristic it was thankfulness. His loyalty to his principles was echoed in his family's loyalty to him, and in the steadfast confidence of his friends. Funeral services at the Grisier Funeral Home, Thursday morning, November 15th, with interment in Archbold cemetery.

SIMON KRIEGER 
Simon Krieger, 34, passed away Monday evening in the Levi Beck home in Pettisville, O., following an 11-weeks illness. Death was due to *uremic poisoning. The body will be at the Beck home until the funeral, Thursday afternoon, 2:30, at Penrod's funeral home, Wauseon, conducted by Rev. Wm. Rupp. Interment in Pettisville cemetery. Surviving are wife, daughter, son, two brothers, Ivan and Ora Krieger; four sisters, Mrs. Hulda Tuttle, Flint, Mich., Mrs. Elsie Brunthaver, Toledo, Mrs. Harry Miller, Archbold and Mrs. Harvey Beck.

There remain to mourn their loss: six sons and three daughters; Ida Weber, Bryan, Samuel, Wauseon, Louis, Delta, Frank, Detroit, Michigan, Harvey, Wauseon, Clarence, Wauseon, Florence Myers, Delta, George, Delta, and Helen Ruffer, at ho me; twenty five grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many other friends and relatives. She was a dutiful, loving Mother and 
will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their kindness and sympathies shown during the sickness and death of their Mother.

In her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and lived a devoted Christian life to the end. Her constant concern was the welfare of her household and to give comfort and cheer to all with 
whom she came in contact. It was her joy and delight to be present in church services but due to physical infirmities she was deprived of this privilege for much of the last 10 years. She often expressed a deep gratitude to all who comforted her by singing Gospel Hymns and by Scripture reading and prayer. Even though she was in poor health for many years there was no apparent change in her condition until Sunday morning about ten minutes before her death when: part of 
the family were ready to leave for church, then after a few minutes of pain and distress she quietly passed away.

IN MEMORY OF Mrs. Anna Short, who passed away Sept. 2, 1945. There remain to mourn her departure, her son Nelson and his wife Allie, two granddaughters, Dorothy and LeAnna, one 
sister Fannie Liechty and many other relatives and friends.  Funeral services were held September 5, 1945 at the home, by Bro. Olen Nofziger and at the Clinton Mennonite Church

As a young man he accepted Christ as his Savior, united with the Mennonite Church near Archbold, O., and there continued in fellowship and service until the end. In 1910, he was 
ordained to the office of deacon, which place he faithfully filled as long as health permitted. He was always greatly concerned for the present and future welfare of his family, the congregation and the church at large. His counsel and advice was sought by many and was generally profitable to those who accepted it.  Besides his local responsibilities he was active in the interests of the church at large and on a number of *accasions made extensive visits in the congregations of the U.S., and Canada. In the World War No.1 he was actively engaged in the interests of our young men of draft age, especially those who were taken into the camps. He served as treasurer of the General conference for 20 years, 15 years for the Peace Problems Committee, and 13 years for the Ohio district conference.  In all his labors he had a keen sense of responsibility, and pursued them energetically and zealously, and laid them down only when age and health demanded it. His fellowship, council and warnings will be long and favorably remembered by his family and many throughout the Church. I have fought a good fight. I have finished, my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only but unto all of them also that love His appearing.--II Tim. 4:7-.8.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Central Mennonite church, conducted by Bro. D. A. Yoder of Elkhart, Ind., and the home Ministers. Text: Rev. 2:10. Burial in Pettisville cemetery.

He lived for nearly fifty years in the neighborhood in which he died and was one of the last of his generation in the neighborhood to depart this life. As a neighbor he was very helpful and highly esteemed.  He accepted Christ as his Saviour in his youth and united with the Mennonite Church and remained faithful until death.  He was interested in the spiritual welfare of his family and of 
the church and was regular in attendance as long as health permitted. 

He leaves to mourn his departure: nine children, nineteen (19) grandchildren, two (2) great-grandchildren, four brothers, Dan, Noah, Peter and Henry, all of Archbold, Ohio; three sisters: Mary, wife of John Roth, deceased of Wayland, Iowa; Kate, wife of' Frank Short, deceased, and Eliza, Mrs. Henry Short of Archbold, O., and many other relatives and friends. There preceded him in death one brother, Joseph.

IN MEMORY OF Ida Beck 
Our loving Sister and Aunt, sadly missed since her tragic death one year ago, October 14, 1944.

To this union were born nine children, all surviving. While still a young man he became a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church and has been a faithful member to the last.  While in the hospital shortly before he passed away he expressed a desire to go to meeting just once more to bid the *brethern and sisters farewell. He stated that, even though he could not be there in body, his mind and spirit would be with them.  He had a pleasant and cheerful disposition and was always eager to cultivate new acquaintances, and visit with his old friends. This characteristic will make him be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves to mourn his departure his bereaved wife, one daughter, Susie at home and eight 
sons; Andrew E. of Delta; Ralph of Wauseon; Dr. O. W. of Toledo; Nelson of Wauseon; Samuel D. of Wauseon; Maurice of Napoleon; Jacob of Alger, and Corwin of Delta.  Beside the immediate family he has twenty-two grand children and two great grandchildren, two brothers, John of Archbold and Andrew M. of Wauseon, two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Weckesser of Pettisville and Mrs. Mary Zimmerman of Wauseon, and numerous cousins and more distant relatives and a 
large circle of friends.  The funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 16, conducted by his Pastor Rev. Wm Rupp. Burial, was made at Lauber Hill cemetery.

SAMUEL BURKHOLDER
Samuel Burkholder, 75 years of age, passed away in St. Vincent's hospital, Toledo, last Wednesday of a stroke, followed by a recent operation. Funeral was held at e Lauber Hill church, Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Wm. Rupp. Leaves widow, daughter, eight sons, twenty-two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Burkholder celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last January, and were fortunate in that no death has occurred in their family up to this time.

Mrs. Susie Burkholder suffered a stroke of paralysis Sunday evening while at the home of her 
son, Joe Burkholder, one mile and a half north of town. They found her lying in the snow and from the fact that she could not move her right limb they concluded that she had fallen and broken it. Drs. Hartman and Hartman were called and upon examination it was found that she could not use her right arm either and it was found that the whole right side was paralyzed. Last reports do not indicate that she is much better.

(Dec 1914) Mrs. Susan Burkholder died at the home of her son Joseph near Wauseon, Tuesday, she had suffered a stroke of paralysis. 

There remain to mourn his departure, his wife, Elizabeth and their three children, Stanley, Murel and Lois. Five *brother, Simeon, John and Edward of Archbold, Daniel of Wauseon, and Ezra of West Unity. Also four sisters: Mrs. Wm. Sigg, Mrs. Emma Kleck, Mrs. Samuel Wiederkehr, and Mrs. Jacob Rupp, and many other friends and relatives.

HARRY BURKHOLDER
Harry Burkholder, 48, passed away in his home south of Archbold Friday. Death was sudden although he had suffered from diabetes for some time. Funeral service was held at the Reformed Mennonite church east of Burlington, Monday afternoon. With Rev. Wm. Rupp in charge. Burial in church cemetery, He leaves widow, two sons, one daughter, five brothers, four sisters.

Mary Rupp Weber 
"Her ways were ways of gentleness And all her paths were peace." 
Mary, the eleventh child of Christian and Elizabeth Rupp, was born near Pettisville, Ohio, 
June 14, 1874, and died quietly in her home at Pettisville on the morning of March 15, 1940. 
She was married to William J. Weber, November 25, 1897. To them were born four children-Aurelius of Pettisville, Maurice of Toledo, and two who died at birth. Of her fourteen brothers and sisters seven survive her: Mrs. Hannah Yaggy of Van Nuys, Calif.; Mrs. Lydia Yaggy of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Mrs. Leah Waldvogel, Mrs. Elizabeth Amstutz, Mr. John F. Rupp, Mr. Lewis Rupp, Mr. Chris. Rupp of Pettisville.  Her death is a deep personal loss, not only to her immediate family, but to her many friends who loved her for the sweetness and serenity of her spirit, the beauty of her character, her uncomplaining acceptance of suffering and pain, and her genuine religious feeling.

John Godshal
John Godshall was born at Hatzbach, Germany, January 29, 1854. In 1879, he united in marriage with Elizabeth Schmidt. In the year 1880 they migrated to this country, making their home in New York State, for a number of years. They then moved to a farm near Lansdale, Pennsylvania where they remained until the death of his wife in 1929, after which he came to Ohio and made his home with his daughter.  He passed to his reward August I8, 1939 at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 11 days. He leaves to mourn their loss: one son, Henry S. Godshall, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Rupp of Archbold, Ohio; one brother, Henry Godshall, of Palmira, New Jersey; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and many other friends and relatives.

Moses Rupp, past 82 years, died in the home of his son Rev. Wm. J. Rupp, Sunday, Jan. 16th. His health has been poor for some time. Funeral service was held in the Lauber Hill church, Wednesday morning at 10.30, with Rev. Aaron Frey, in charge. Burial made in church cemetery. He leaves two daughters, three sons, thirty-six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren.

Christian D. Roth
Christian D., son of Christian D. Roth and Magdalena Burkholder, was born April 4th, 1857 in Fulton County. At the age of nine he moved to Ridgeville Township, Henry County where he resided the past seventy-two years.  He was united in marriage to Matilda Miller on April 13th, 1876, who preceded him in death in the year 1926. To this union were born four sons, three having died in infancy. He united with the Reformed Mennonite church of which he remained a faithful member for sixty one years. He also served as minister since 1897 from which he never retired.  He departed this life at the home of his granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Eicher and family, on Wednesday morning, January 11th, 1939, at the age of 81 years, 8 months, 7 days. 

He is survived by one son, Henry;  four grandchildren: Mrs. Wm. Eicher, Mrs. J. H. Spengler, Mrs. P. R. Laneknau, and Arthur Roth; five great-grandchildren, many other relatives, and a host of friends. 

Funeral services were held at the Reformed Mennonite church, Friday, at 2:00 p. m., with Rev. Steiner of Lima, 0., officiating. Burial took place in church cemetery.

Chris Beck
Chris. Beck, age 84, passed away Sunday morning at 6:00 o'clock in his home in Pettisville. He had been ailing in health the past year. Funeral service will be held Thursday, at 10:00 a. m., in 
the Central Mennonite church, Rev. E. B. Frey and Rev. Phil. Frey officiating. Interment in Eckley cemetery. Leaves five daughters, two sons, 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, sister Mrs. Jonas S. Short; three brothers, Jacob, Joel and Henry Beck, all of near Archbold.

Samuel R. Lauber
Samuel R. Lauber, son of Melvin C. and Carrie Lauber, was born June 21, 1912, at Elmira, Ohio. Near which place he grew up and was still at home with his parents.  Samuel was of a bright, sunny disposition and of clean moral habits, and during his short stay with us made many true friends, who were deeply shocked to learn of his tragic death and who with his parents and relatives experienced a sorrow which lies beyond expression.  He departed this life October 29, 
at Angola, Indiana, at the age of 24 years, 4 months, and 8 days. 

There remain to mourn his departure: his father and mother, Melvin C. and Carrie Lauber; two brothers, Winifred and Robert, and one sister Orpha. (One sister, Irma, having preceded him in death), also his grandmothers, Mrs. Samuel Lauber and Mrs. John Zimmerman, and many other relatives and friends.

SAMUEL LAUBER
(Oct 1936) 
Samuel Lauber, 24, &on of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Lauber, died in a hospital in Angola, Ind., Thursday evening, from injuries suffered the previous : Sunday, in a motorcycle accident on I Route 20 near that place.   Funeral services were held in the Lauber Hill church, Sunday afternoon, at two o'clock with Rev. W. J. Rupp officiating. Interment in church cemetery. 

Deceased is survived by parents, brother, and two sisters.

Samuel Lauber suffered a broken right leg, his left leg badly injured, and other serious bruises. 
He was taken to the hospital but died of peritonitis. His companion, Rutherford Runkel of Bryan, was also riding a motorcycle, and the two cycles became entangled, throwing Lauber into a car driven by Mrs. Wm. Becker of Toledo. Mrs. Laura Bell, riding with Mrs. Becker was injured. 
Runkel suffered bruises and spent three days in the hospital. 

Arline Frey, 9, is still in the hospital suffering from fracture of the skull. The little boy, Merrill, *2, is 
at home and seems to be recovering. Mr. Harvey B. Frey was injured about the head. 
The Harvey B. Frey ford was going south at the Van Pelt corners, south of Wauseon, Wednesday afternoon. In the ford was Mr. Frey and his three children, aged *3, *7 and 6 years. 
Going east at the corner was the, Lugbill stock truck loaded with steers and driven by Leon Lugbill.   The two cars came together at the corner with a terrific crash. The passenger car was thrown some ten feet and rolled. As it was of wood-frame construction, it was badly demolished, and the occupants greatly endangered. 

Leon Lugbill, 16, son of. Mr. and Mrs. Eli Lugbill, .is at home and seems to be recovering nicely from his injuries.  The stock truck turned a complete sommersault and landed about forty feet from the place of impact. One steer was killed, and several injured.  Leon Lugbill, the driver of the truck, considered himself uninjured at first, but later he was taken to the hospital at Wauseon. 

The Frey family recently lost a son in an accident with a horse. Both the truck and the passenger, car were completely wrecked. It is said that the corner in question was screened by trees and the drivers could not see each other approaching.

by many friends and relatives. 

He leaves to mourn a sadly bereaved wife; two sons, Harold and Wilbur; one daughter, Mrs. Marion Roth; two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Fenstermaker of Archbold, Ohio, and Mrs. Emma King of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, David Kleck of near Ridgeville Corners, Ohio; and grandchildren: Doris Schantz, who has been living in the home since her mother's death, and Richard, Ruth 
Anna, Alice Mary Roth, and Daryl Kleck; and many relatives and friends.  His daughter Inez, two grandsons, father, mother; one sister, Mary Snyder, and two brothers, Jacob and Henry, 
preceded him to the Great Beyond.

HARMON KLECK
Harmon Kleck, age 63 years, passed away in the Wauseon hospital, Saturday, at 2:00 o'clock a. m. He had been in the hospital seven weeks. His health had been failing for the past few months and at the hospital he underwent an operation, and required a number of blood transfusions. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the Lauber Hill church with Rev. Wm. Rupp officiating. Burial in church cemetery. He leaves widow, daughter and two sons -Mrs. M. J. Roth, Harold and Wilbur Kleck; five grandchildren; two sisters and brother- Mrs. Emma King of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. J. S. Fenstermaker, and Mr. David Kleck. He was born and raised in this vicinity.

Anna C. Eicher
Anna c. Eicher nee Frey was born near Pettisville, Ohio, March 19, 1868; died at her home near Archbold, Ohio, March 1, 1936, age 67 years, 11 months and 12 days. She was united in marriage with Christian S. Eicher, March 20, 1890. They shared life's joys and sorrows together for nearly 46 years.

To this union were born 9 children, viz: Eva, wife of Samuel Grieser Jr., of Archbold, Ohio; Samuel E., of Albany, Oregon; Ruth, wife of Alfred Nofzinger of Archbold, Ohio; Reuben of Wauseon, 
Ohio; Andrew of Bryan, Ohio; Verna, wife of Carl Zimmer of Napoleon, Ohio; Ellen, wife of Lawrence Mull of Toledo, Ohio; and Ervin and Olen at home.  Anna was the first to break the 
family circle; she was somewhat feeble for a number of years yet her end came rather unexpectedly to the family, but not to her as she frequently spoke of it as being near at hand.

She leaves to mourn her departure: a sorrowing husband, nine children, three brothers, viz: E. L. Frey of Wauseon, Ohio; Amos Frey of Long; Beach, California, and J. C. Frey of Archbold, Ohio, together with a large circle of other relatives and friends. 
Anna accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her youth and united with the Amish Mennonite Church and remained faithful to the end.

AARON GEARIG 
Aaron *Gearig, age 63 years, passed away in his home north of Pettisville, Friday noon, April 5th, after an illness of several months of hardening of the arteries. The funeral services were held in the Defenseless Mennonite church, Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. M. Slagle. Interment in Pettisville cemetery. He leaves widow; two brothers, Mr. C. L. *Gerig and Mr. Jonathan Gerig, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Clarence Weber, of near Ottokee.

Mrs. Emma (Rupp) Gearig
(1935)
Mrs. Emma Gearig, past 70 years of age, died in her home north of Pettisville, Wednesday, May 29th. She was in poor health the past year and took worse on the Thursday previous to her death. The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon in the Defenseless Mennonite church, conducted by Rev. E. M. Slagle. Interment in Pettisville *cmetery. She leaves foster daughter and 7 foster grandchildren; a sister, Miss Mary Rupp of Detroit, and brother, Mr. Enos Rupp of near Archbold.

LOIS BECK 
Lois, 8-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beck, died Monday in their home southeast of Archbold. She had been ill for more than three months and had undergone three operations. Death was due to an abscess on the brain. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Central A.-M. church, in charge or Rev. Ed. Frey, and also Rev. E. M. Slagle of the D.- Mennonite church. Burial in Pettisville cemetery. -She leaves parents, aged grandfather, three brothers, and three sisters.

WILBUR RUFFER
Wilbur Ruffer, 17 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ruffer, passed away in their home southwest of Archbold, Friday, May 10th after week’s illness of pneumonia. The funeral services were held at the home, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. J. Klaudt. Interment in Archbold cemetery. He leaves parents, three sisters and five brothers.

Henry R. Mull 
Henry R. Mull, son of Andrew Mull and Barbara Detzer, was born in Fulton County, Ohio, on the twenty-second day of November, 1866.  He departed this life, in his home, in Ridgeville 
Township, on July 26, 1935, having attained the age of sixty-eight years, eight months and four days. On August 16, 1892 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Burkholder. His companion preceded him to the Great Beyond twelve years ago. This union was blessed with ten children: Ora of Ridgeville, EIger of Toledo, Edward of Wauseon, Lawrence of Toledo, Herbert of Fayette, Corwin of Toledo, Mrs. Ivah Graber at home, and Orpha at home. 

A son Ferman and daughter Sadie preceded the father In death.  He also leaves twelve grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Mary Hayes of Wauseon and one brother Adam of Ridgeville, besides a host of relatives and friends, who sadly mourn his passing.

MENNO NAFZIGER
Menno Nafziger, age 64 years, passed away in the Municipal hospital at Tampa, Florida, Monday morning, at 1:15 o'clock, where he had been taken on Saturday, suffering from gall trouble, and was bed-fast a week.  The body arrived in Archbold, on Thursday morning, and was taken to home of his daughter, Mrs. Marion J. Winzeler, southwest of Archbold.  The funeral services were held on Saturday morning in the Central A.- Mennonite church, conducted by Rev. S. D. Grieser and Rev. S. S. Wyse. Burial in PettisviI1e cemetery. 

Leaves widow, daughter, Mrs. M. J. Winzeler, three sisters: Mrs. John M. Roth, Mrs. Katie Nofziger and Mrs. J. J. Spiess, and brother, Mr. Joel C. Nafziger, all of Archbold.  When notified 
of his illness, the daughter left for Tampa, Fla., on Saturday evening, and arrived at the hospital, Monday morning at 11:20, only a few minutes after he had passed away.

She is survived by her aged mother, her husband, two daughters: Mrs. Joyce Graf and Mrs. Elsie Mull; one son, John; four grandchildren; John jr., Joy PhiI1ys and Mary Lou Graf, and John Richard Winzeler; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Andrew Myers
Andrew Myers, second son of Martin and Mary Myers, was born in Williams county, Ohio, Feb. 5th, 1847, and departed this life March 22nd, 1936, at the age of 88 years, one month and seventeen days.  On Jan. 27th, 1872, he was united in marriage to Susanna Roth with whom he spent over 58 years of wedded life. To this union seven children were born. His beloved wife Susanna and two daughters: Permilla Ann and Laura preceded him in death.  He united with the Reformed Mennonite Church in 1878, of which he .was a faithful member to the end, all through the many years he gave testimony that his treasure was not in earthly things but that his life was hidden with Christ in God. He was a loving, dutiful father, ever willing to sacrifice self for his loved-ones, ever seeking Divine guidance in instructing his children.  Since the death of his beloved wife in May 1930, he has been making his home with his children. He was living with his daughter Mrs. Mary Brehm, in Pettisville, at the time of death. 

He leaves to mourn, five children Ella Brehm of Fayette, Mary Brehm of Pettisville, Chris Myers 
of Pleasant, Lake, Ind., and George and Floyd of Fayette, Ohio; also 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and a host of other friends and relatives.

John L. Sturgeon, 
Elmira Merchant Passes Away 
John L. Sturgeon, 79, hardware merchant of. Elmira, passed away in his home, early Tuesday morning, Feb. 6th, after a brief illness.  He operated the store in Elmira for over 30 years and 
was well-known throughout this community.  Services will be held in the Rupp funeral home at 12:30, Thursday, and also at the Brethren church at Alvordton at 2:00 p. m. Interment in Walnut Grove cemetery near Alvordton. Rev. E. M. Slagle will have charge of the funeral services.

Deceased is survived by his aged widow, one daughter, Mrs. Chas. Kassmore of Alvordton; stepson, Emmett Miller of Toledo, and two step-grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her passing: an only daughter, Mrs. Jesse Short; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Peter J. Stuckey; one brother, Samuel S. Short; step-mother, and many near relatives and friends.  Her husband, two sons and one daughter preceded her in death. Her husband died Dec. 19th, 1902, leaving her a widow for a little over thirty-two 'years.

Sister Wyse was of a kind and loving disposition and manifested the spirit of friendliness to everybody she met. While the sister had many trials and sorrows in life, yet she was always 
able to look upon the bright side of things and commit it all to Him Who is able to help.  Sister Wyse confessed her Lord as her Savior in her younger years and united with the Amish 
Mennonite Church near Archbold, Ohio, and lived a faithful, consistent Christian life unto the end.

MRS. LOUIS (Eldo Rozella Weber) MERILLAT
Mrs. Louis Merillat, age 51 years, passed away Thursday in the Ford hospital in Detroit, where she had been for two weeks under observation. The body was brought to her home east of Burlington, Thursday evening. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Defenseless Mennonite church, conducted by Rev. E. M. Slagle. Interment in Pettisville cemetery. She leaves husband, four daughters, son, four grandchildren, parents, sister, and three brothers. 

Paul Hermen Frey 
Paul Hermen, son of Harvey B. and Bertha H. (Short) Frey, was born Feb. 28, 1925; died Nov. 8, 1934, at the age of 9 years, 8 months and 10 days. Paul was the oldest of a family of 5 children, and will be missed very much, especially because of his friendly disposition, and tragic death. Being a very willing boy to help his parent, and having an especial inclination to be among horses, he went to the field in the morning to bring the horses to the barn. He took a rope with him and put it around the horse's neck, and evidently tied the other end of the rope to his right arm, leading 
the horse homeward, when suddenly the horse became fractious and dragged him to his death. 

He leaves, besides his parents. two brothers and two sisters; two grandfathers and one grandmother, (J. C. Frey, and Harmon Short and wife).One great-grandfather (Chris. Beck), 
and one step-great-grandmother, (Katie Burkholder). Funeral services were held at the Central church near Archbold, 0., Nov, 10th, conducted by E. L. Frey, assisted by S. D. Grieser. 
Interment in Pettisville cemetery,

Funeral service for Verna Henry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Henry, was held at the Reformed Mennonite church on Lauber hill, at 2:00 o'clock, Friday, conducted by Rev. Wm. Rupp. Verna Henry died on Tuesday evening following a brief illness of pneumonia, at the age of 23 years. Leaves parents, one sister Doris, and numerous other relatives. Interment was made in church cemetery.

He leaves five daughters: Mrs. A. Laycock and Mrs. Minnie Reuthinger of Toledo; Mrs. Elizabeth Schnur of Delta; Mrs. Lillian Bretthauer of Archbold; Mrs. Alice Gunn of West Unity; and one son, Mr. Alwin Rice of Wauseon, and a sister, Mrs. Jacob F. Leininger of near Archbold.
