James Seeds was one of King George 1V Irish Soldiers and belonged to a regiment of Irish Six-Footers. James landed in the new world to fight the colonists. Family legend has James deserting from the British Army around the time of the Battle of Bunker Hill.

James may have left a wife and family in Ireland when he was drafted or enlisted into the British Army. We have confirmed that the 4th Regiment, or King's Own, were presented in North America at th time; arriving in April 1774, they were involved in the first actions of the war, and in Dec. 1777 were involved in skirmishes at Chestnut Hill and Edge Hill. On 28th June, 1778, they wre present at the Battle of Monmouth Court. In Nov. 1778, they moved to West Indes which were at this time under threat form the French. In Dec. 1778, they were at the capture of St. Lucia and on 6th July were at the Battle of Grenada.

James and his wife, Isabella settled or squatted in southern Franklin Co., OH ca 1805 and raised their children most of whom were born in PA; namely, Martha, Robert, James, Aaron, John, William, Moses and Mary.

Many descendants live in area today (2000).
