There was a William Stephenson (Stevenson) who operated an early tavern at Franklinton. This man also was a member of the Stevensons of the Canal Winchester area (John Stevenson, Revolutionary Soldier buried in Madison Twp. In fact, William and John were brothers. The John Stevenson above was said to have helped in the Tavern business. The Stevensons and Hopkims families also had a Tavern at Waterloo, Ohio near Canal Winchester. The above Franklinton Tavern was mentioned in some early writings about Franklinton. A descendant of William Stevenson is a member of First Families of Ohio. He is Charles Beaman Stevenson, formerly of Columbus and now of Indiana, Pa. Telephone 412-349-1766.
