My great grandfather eight times removed was a man named John GALLOWAY. He was the first white settler in Ohio. His daughter, Mary Galloway married a man named Frederick ICE, my great grandfather seven times removed, and they had 14 children.

Frederick came to the United States from Holland in 1700 (born in 1680), went west after a couple years and settled with his brother Andrew on the western end of what is today known as the Nemicolin Trail. There, he met all the people on the frontier since he and Andrew ran a trading post and a ferry on the Cheat River in West Virginia near the Pennsylvania border.

Frederick married Mary Galloway and they had sons and daughters in big numbers... Three daughters, Elizabeth, Magaret, and Mary... along with William were stolen by Cherokee scouts. Then, later they were stolen from the Cherokee village by Shawnee.

Mary (the younger) was taken as wife to Pucksinwah, a young man destined to become chief of the Shawnee. They had nine children, the third born was Tecumseh.

John Galloway, Tecumseh's grandfather was a pure white Irishman, his mother was a white Irish/Dutch mixture. His father was the son of an half-white, half-indian warrior. So, Tecumseh was mostly white. That is why he ordered that his son not be given the sword he was fond of carrying into battle until he proved himself a worthy warrior since he was of "diluted blood."

Over one hundred of my family members served in the Revolutionary War. There were in this family of mine branches from all over New England... not just Ohio.

The Ohio people I've mentioned are joined in this family by John Adams, Samuel Adams, John Quincy Adams, John Hancock, Daniel Boone, Thomas Tinker (Mayflower Compact), Capt. John Smith (1st Gov. of Jamestown, Virginia, James Buchanan, and Steven Foster (the composer). The majority of their relations lived in southern Ohio between Chillicothe and McArthur.

The names include... Galloway, Ice, Cox, Tuttle, McDonald, Swank, Fullen (Alexander Fullen, War 1812), Boone (via Elizabeth and Squire), Buchanan, and a few others of lesser number.

I have extensive documentation including military records, family journels, etc...
