History
ERIE COUNTY was formed in 1838 from Huron and Sandusky counties. The surface to the eve seems nearly level, while in fact it forms a gentle slope from the south line of the county, where it has an elevation of about 150 feet above the lake, to the lake level. Erie County is a county located in the state of Ohio, United States. As of 2000, the population was 79,551. Its county seat is Sandusky[2] and is named for the Erie (tribe), whose name was their word for "wildcat".[3] It is home to the amusement park Cedar Point.
