I have come across a land patent report (OH1840_.137) under the name of John D. KINZER, for April 24, 1820 for 80 acres in Defiance County (Township 4N). My father was born in Ney, Ohio in 1923 and I am wondering if this could possibly be his ancestor. Does anyone have any information on this person? Thank you.

Henry HAAS came to Defiance county from Germany in 1866. He came with his father, Valentin, brother Frank, sisters Barbara, Anna Maria and Clara. Barbara married Philip SPRINGLING. Anna Maria married Alexander IMPTON (IMTHURM). Clara married John GREUTMAN. Henry married Hannah WHETSTONE. They had six living children:

- Hannah HAAS
- Valentine HAAS
- August HAAS (my father)
- Elizabeth HAAS who may have married a GLEASON.

Henry VAN WORMER b 1776 was disposing of real estate in 1852 in Brunersburg, Defiance Co. OH. At that time he would have been 76. I suspect he died in Defiance Co and perhaps Brunersburg but have been unable to find him again. Does anyone have information about this man or any of his family? His daughters married men with these surnames, CHURCHMAN, PHILLIPS, LUCE and MANSFIELD. Some of his sons were in trouble with the law and appear in court records in the various counties where they lived such as Williams Co., OH and Crawford Co., PA.

My wife was born and raised in Defiance, Defiance Cty Ohio 9.13.48 her parents were Chris and Alta Mae RUPP, sisters Margie, Eileen, Sharon, Edith. Chris died approx 9.7.60, Alta Mae died 9.20.60. we are just beginning to explore her family (she has lost contact with most family members over the years) and would appreciate any information.
