Neal Thompson, age about 68, Saturday night the 23rd of May by suicide, while in prison awaiting trial on charges of burning a stable at Goshen. Thompson seems to have been a stranger here, and little or nothing is known in this county as to his family connections if he has any.May31. 1841

Died in this town, on Friday night last, Mrs. Melissa Gest, consort of Andrew M. Gest, Editor of the Clermont Courier, about 21 years of age. Mrs. Gest has left a helpless family of three children, the youngest being but a few days old January 25, 1841

Died on the 3rd inst. after an illness of about 20 hours, Mrs. Phebe Dimmitt, consort of Ezekiel Dimmitt of this place, aged 62 years and 22 days.

Died in this town, on the 5th inst. Benjamin Thompson, son of the late Stephen Thompson, of Stonelick Township, aged about 15 years.February 8. 1841

Died in this town, after a short illness, on Monday morning, 17th inst. Mrs. Margaret Clarke, consort of R.W. Clarke, Esq. She has left a husband and two small children, one but about three weeks old.May 24, 1841
Died in this town on Friday night last (26th) after a short but severe illness, Mr. William Rust, aged about 44 years. He has left a bereaved widow with a large family of children.

Died on Sunday last, Mrs. Elizabeth Duckwall, consort of George Duckwall, of Ohio Township.
March 29, 1841

Died on Tuseday last, Mr. Peter Curlis, who lived some two miles east of Batavia, committed suicide, by hanging himself in his barn with a rope.
April 24, 1841

Died in this town, on Sunday morning the 28th inst. Mr. George Lear, aged about 34 years. Mr. Lear has left a small but helpless family consisting of a mother and two small children.
Dece,nber 6, 1841

Died in this place on Monday evening last, Mrs. Rachel Ann Robinson, consort of W.W. Robinson. She left a husband, four small children, and a large circle of friends.
September 3, 1842

Drowned on Monday evening last, Mr. Richard Bragg, near Penn's Mill, in this County on the East Fork where he tied a large rock around his body, and waded in and submitted himself to a watery grave.

Died in this town on Monday night last, Mrs Esther Pickens, consort of James Pickens, aged about 25 years. The companion of the deceased was absent, being on his way home from the south at the time of her death. Distressing indeed must have been her death bed, surrounded as she was with several small children and but one or two relatives, the rest being at a great distance.

Died after a short illness, on Wednesday last, Mrs Sarah Reed of this county, leaving a bereaved husband with a small but helpless family.

Died at the residence of his grandmother, in Stonelick township of a pulmonary disease, Mr. T. S. Patterson, aged about 22 years.

Died on the 13th inst. in this town after an illness of several months, Mr. David G. Flanders, formerly of Warner, New Hampshire.

Died in Vicksburgh, Mississippi, on the 8th December, John M. Shannon, son of Marmaduke and Levina Shannon, both formerly of this town, aged six years & eighteen days.

Died at his residence in Batavia township on Tuesday evening last, Judge Ambrose Ransom, about 77 years of age. Mr. Ransom was an early settler in this county; he filled a seat on the bench of the County Court for a number of years. He was a member of the ME. Church for about fifty years.

Died at Goshen in this county, August 1st, Dr. Isaac Westerfield, aged about 50 years. His remains were followed to their silent repose on Wednesday last by a large concourse of friends and relatives, and a Masonic procession.
August 4. 1843

Died on the 18th inst. of consumption, of Bethel, aged about 26 years. He has left a wife and one child to mourn their bereavement.
March 3. 1843

Died on Tuesday the 10th inst at the residence of his father in Bethel, in this county, Benjamin F. Ellsberry, Esq, late of Xenia, Ohio.

Died near Camden Missouri, on the 22d ult., Capt. William S. Patterson in the 51st year of his age. The subject was for a series of years, a citizen of this town. He has left a wife and three children to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father.

Died in this town on Tuesday morning last, George, infant son of John M. and P.C. Brown, aged two months and eight days.

Died at Rockvile, Ia., a few weeks since, Robert Newron, aged about 3 years, and Clara Foote, about one year, children of Dr. James L. and Caroline Allen, and grandchildren of Andrew Foote, Esq. formerly of this place.

Died in this township, on Monday evening last, Mr. Shadrach Dial, in the 85th year of his age. Mr. Dial emigrated to this county at an early day, and was one of the first settlers in this region. He lived, for about sixty years, as he died, an exemplary member of the Methodist E. Church, and lived to see his children well situated in life, and members of his own church.

Died near Milford, in this county on Monday night last, Mr. Jacob Gest, about 53 years of age. Mr. Gest was an old resident of this county, and an esteemed citizen. He has left a widow and a large family and numerous circle of friends to mourn the loss of a husband and father, and devoted friend. He had been an exemplary member of the M.E. Church for more than 30 years.
February 17, 1843

Died at his residence near Bethel, August 2, 1843, Wesley Swing, in the 51st year of his age. He was born in the state of New Jersey, but at an early age removed with his parents to this county where he resided until his death.

Died in Union township, at the residence of her son, Dr. SJ. Alexander, on the 25th ult., Mrs. Elizabeth Alexander, about 73 years of age.

Died at Connersville, Indiana on the 8th inst., Miss Jane Hankins, late of this county in the 23d year of her age. Until recently the deceased was a resident of this county, where she has left a large circle of relatives and friends.

Died on the 5th inst. Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, consort of Dennis Smith, Esq, of Stonelick township, in this county, in the 30th year of her age.

Died, in Batavia, Saturday March 4, Mr. David Morris in the 55th year of his age. Born in Washington Co. Pa. January 13, 1789, and when but two months old was brought by his parents who emigrated to Ohio, and settled at Columbia, near the confluence of the Little Miami and Ohio Rivers. In 1801 they removed to Clermont Co. About the year 1813 he published a paper in Williamsburg in this Co. called "The Western American" and subsequently conducted a paper in this place for about eight years entitled "The Spirit of the Times", which afterwards was changed to the "Chronicle of the Times." He leaves behind a wife and large family of children.

Died, on Friday last, at the residence of his son, Edmund Spence, in this town, Mr. George Spence in the 85th year of his age. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Masons.

Died in this vicinity, on Saturday last, Mr. Archer M'Nair, about 25 years of age.
September 8, 1843

Died at his residence, near Williamsburg, on the 31st ulL Mr. Adam Bricker. He was born on the ocean, during the passage of his parents from Germany to the United States, in 1759. He served as a soldier during the last four years of the Revolution, and was with St. Clair and Wayne in their expeditions against the Indians. He had resided in this vicinity near fifty years, married in 1802, and raised a family of nine children.

Died, near Bethel, on the 26th ult., Mr. James South, in the 81st year of his age. Mr. South was among the first settlers of this Country, and upwards of 40 years a resident of Tate Township.

Died in Bethel, on the 25th inst., Sarah Melvina, infant daughter of Rev. Jacob G. and Hannah Dimmitt.

Died in Union Twp. on Sunday last, Mr. Campbell Johnson, about 50 years of age, leaving a wife and a family of children to mourn his untimely death.
