Clermont County Genealogical Society
Old Bethel Church
Baptisms
by Jennie Marshall
Explanations and Directions
Each item here enumerated should be carfully entered, as in the case of
orphan
children, the Baptismal Record is often the only means by which they
could
prove
either their age or their parentage. When adults are baptized, the
Names
of Parents and the Dates of Birth may be omitted, except it be in the
case
of very young persons, who can have no delicacy in giving the necessary
information. The Mode of Baptism, though almost uniform in our Church
may
be specified as an item of interest in the future. Under the Head of
Remarks
may be entered anything in connection with said baptisms that the
minister
seem sufficiently important to note. In entering the Date of the
Baptism
in the column on the left, it will add to the appearance of the Record
to
put the year on the margin, and the month and day in the next column,
as
1873 April 15, instead of April 15, 1873. As the year will not be
repeated
as frequently, it will leave a wider and neater margin.
