I copied a Revolutionary War file for Thomas Tipton at the archives. I thought it was for one of my direct ancestors, but it not. Thomas applied for a pension March 9, 1838 at the age of 100 in Champaign County, Ohio. He volunteered about July 1, 1776 while residing in Faifax Co, VA within seven miles of Mt. Vernon. This file is several pages of handwritten documents. I would be glad to send it to a direct ancestor of Thomas Tipton.

We have a letter from a Rouse descendant dated 1960. In this letter she states that William Henry and Maleatha Ann Crouch ROUSEY were settled in Ohio when "Grandpa" took a sudden notion to go WesT with the wagon train. She adds that a man named Dan O'HARA was also on this train. We have learned that Henry and Maleatha Ann were settled in Johnston Twp Champaign County Ohio when "Grandpa" took this sudden notion. They had a son born in Missouri in 1855 so we believe the date of the journey West must have been cir. 1854/55. Does someone have information about this wagon train?

I am trying to locate information on William and Mary Yazel McGaffey. William was born in Sandwich, N.H. Mary was born in Kentucky. Their first child, Hannah, was born in Champaign County, Ohio in 1822. Their 4th child is my gg grandfather, David. They moved on to St Joseph Co., MI by 1837 as this is the year William died. ANY information will be greatly appreciated as I do not know who Mary's parents were. She was 26 when she married William so it is possible that this was not her first marriage. David's certificate of death in Van Buren County, Iowa lists her maiden name as Yazel. My e-mail address is [email protected] Thank you, Valorie (McGaffey) Richards
