Date posted: February 19, 2014: Info needed on marriage date for: John Jacob Gearhart, born 1816 in New Jersey and Mary (or Mary Jane or Margaret) Morlan (or Moreland or Morelan), possible dob 1818 (Columbiana County, OH) Marriage date I have is April 6, 1837 and said to have taken place in Carroll Co, Ohio. Due to research on ancestry.com we have this date but there is no proof/verification. Since there is an issue with the first and last name for the bride, we've had difficulties in researching this portion of our family tree. The census data list her as being "Mary" but we've also seen other family trees with her listed as "Mary Jane" and "Margaret". Additionally, we have found more than one "Jacob and Mary Gearhart" in Ohio but they are not the right ones as far as we can tell. Jacob and Mary had seven children, the oldest--David Theophilus Gearhart, is my great grandfather. Thank you for any advice, assistance.
